Ok, when Ford says that motor makes 300 HP, the mean just that. This does not mean all 300 HP will reach the tires. Factor in the transmission, tq converter, drive shaft, axle gears and tires.. the power is now 224 RWHP (rear wheel hp) on a stock F150 5.4. About 25% of power was lost. I am making 301 hp at the wheels now. So power at the motor is about 370 hp and 400 tq. After the new intake manifold I should see about 425 motor HP.
Sucks? Not quite. There is NO way that truck is making 450 HP, sorry. Even with a supercharger he would barely be at 450 hp on the dyno, stock. He's pulling your leg.
What's your tq? I'm now at 301 rwhp and 350 rwtq... But I keep peak tq and hp for 1500 rpm.. Very flat! So at full throttle, and with shifting.. I'm at peak power the whole time... Unlike your set up. I do a 1/4 mile in 14.2 @ 95 mph... My set up makes power high up in the power band... Your set up makes power very early. My 0-60 is 5.3 seconds.. What's yours? 6.8 ish??
If you look at these times...and consider in that my peak HP is only 18 more than yours...there is a reason why mine is quicker. Go to my home page and watch "My 2005 F150" video. I have a pic of the new dyno graph. I hold good power to 6000 RPM, where as with my stock cams, only 5300. So I can pull each gear longer. What cab style is yours? Mine is a supercab 2wd flareside 6.5' bed. Heavier than the crewcab 5.5'
With my 4.56 gears, and a 3000 stall..traction is an issue for me. Even if I am doing 30 mph then floor it, the tires will lose grip. I can get this truck sideways so easy though! Really fun! If I'm doing 50, then turn and floor it, the tires will smoke and it will get sideways! I am running Dunlop Sport Maxx tires and Rouse 20" wheels and Roush racing suspension...so it does it very stable without fear of flipping :-)
The stock motor makes 300 HP at the flywheel, not the wheels. After all the transmission loss, and loss from other accessories, the power is about 224 at the wheels. I am currently making 301 hp at the wheels, until i get a hold of some adapter plates to replace my intake manifold, I then should make about 340 hp at the wheels.
Well i guess im talking about the flywheel HP. Its stock like 305 right? but you said 224 so i was like what?? how much HP do you have to the flywheel now ?
For the 2005 model, 300 HP and 365 TQ at the flywheel. So, stock, 25% of power was lost though the powertrain. Considering that, I should be making about 376 HP and 400 TQ at the flywheel, currently. Until I get my intake manifold. Then I should be at 415 HP and 430 TQ at the flywheel. Plus another 1000 RPM range to run with in each gear. Meaning much better times and higher top speed.
Ur on the right track its hard to get a truck that heavy movin u knw...I have a question..when u installed the converter...how was the power gain on that? did it shave a sec on ur 0-60?
There was no actual power gain from it. It allows the tranny to slip to about 2800-3000 rpm before it locks up, so I get a much better launch. Not only that, I helps normal driving too because the motor wont bog like before when hitting the gas some when overdrive is engaged, it will always let the motor rev to about 3k no matter the gear. I like it. My 0-60 did show improvement, that is if I can keep the tires from spinning now!
280.5 rwhp and 338.59 wrtq is what it is now. The est. power after the new cams and port job should be around 340 rwhp and around 400 rwtq plus a 6700 rpm red line.
I didn't do a dyno before the cams. But, I have seen dyno graphs of a stock 5.4 and it was about 224 rwhp but that was with big tires. Stock tuned is 240 rwhp and 290 rwtq. I am now at 280.5 rwhp and 338.59 rwtq.
Very nice tq increase.

I'd be happy with 275 RWHP, considering my transfer case on the 4x4

im not understanding wat you said. after all the mods you only got 301? its 300 stock.

that really sucks. my dad has an 07 f150 5.4L and all stock. he hammered it once and it flew. so the 2006-2008 says its got 450HP. not really right?

torque is 327 and 0-60 is about 6 flat i also have 3.73 gears so it helps it pick up a lot quicker off the line...my best 1/4 was a 15.2 @ 89mph

@stuntrider15 What type a place did you get your 3.73's put in? Ford? a trans shop?

the tires spun like crazy, track was poorly prepped, i'm going back in a week and i'm hoping for a best of a 14.7

shouldn you have about 300 horses in that truck stock? it seems like you spent a lot of money for almost no horsepower at all.

This video is an older video. I am now at 301 RWHP, and should be up to 350 RWHP after I install the new short runner intake manifold.

im thinkin about gettin a 3400 yank...but my avalanche is too heavy and the good thing bout that is my tires dont spin much from a dead stop ;)
assassinq8i 2 years ago
that would be way too much stall for the street. I wouldnt do anymore than 3000...i would do a little less than that still.

People always tell me that because of my high lift in my camshaft (GT11) i need a converter thats like 3400..
