That blowed up REAL good! I worked for GM, working with companies that made parts for us including PSIRs. (air bags) - Did you know that Sodium Azide is toxic? It was kinda funny watching that guy pick up the hot inflater body, ouch! The passenger side usually has more propellant as the bags are larger and need more gas for inflation. A single spark can ignite the SA that is contained in a pipe with many holes in it - I really do not recommend handling SA or these components
All you need is a 9V battery to set them off. So yes jsweet83, the can easily go off during installation. One should probably wear a ground strap on their wrist during installation.
