Claude is a very intelligent and nice man. He clearly isn't annoyed at the laughter and ridicule, he is patient and noble and humble. Quite amazing actually, as if he understands human behaviour and expectations to a tee. His explanations are believable and not really irrational at all. HOWEVER, I do believe that deception can take a lot of elegant forms. It can be like a virus and spread and destroy many many lives over one stupid idea.
