  • Remember too it was those fieldstones, those picked rocks that built thousands of barns, homes, and fireplaces. Some times the old farmers would find a rock so big that it could not be moved, even with a huge horsedrawn sledge called a stone-boat.So they would dig around it and build a huge fire and when the rock was heated throw cold water on it.That made it crack into pieces that could then be hauled away.

  • Had to laugh at the last segment about the folks from Minnesota buying the rocks ;) Keep 'em coming!
