Sounds like klinok19 should should write a book. He has it all figured out! This knife has a great design made with quality materials. And would make an excellent addition to a ready pak. Thanks James
@BrazenMudrain. You are doing a bad service, and potentially a harm, by pushing an unsuitable product, you got that? This is not an academic discussion, for which you are unprepared obviously. You are also a liar, a fraud. The guy who ever was on the ground, actually, would know that this long knife is an obstruction to the movement of every sort.
@BrazenMudrain. I am not discussing this with you, I am saying you and your buddy here is wrong, plain and simple. And your "affiliation" with military means nothing, if you can't understand simple things about gear. Every ounce is counted, and there is no place for a an unnecessary and unproductive things on the solder's body. You just a "used car salesman", that it. You want to sell your product no matter what. But, the facts on the ground are, real solders in combat zone don't buy you
@klinok19 At any distance at all, I agree. I would rather have a gun. But if the soldier is attempting to kill silently, quickly, and up close, the knife is probably a better weapon than the gun. Hell, even if he doesn't need to be silent, but he's just up close the knife is probably better than a gun. You could say that there is no way that any trained soldier would ever let a person get that close to them while they had their gun, but it does happen. It just depends on the environment.
The knife also never runs out of ammunition, is almost completely silent, is much easier to bring to bear in close quarters than any gun, and can cause damage within far greater ranges of motion than a gun. The gun has to have a direct line towards the target, and that's completely fine at a distance. But when your opponent is directly in your face, your arm is blocked up, and you can't bring any of your guns to bear, the knife will more than likely come out on top.
@BrazenMudrain. The main advantage of the modern combat firearms to compare to your favorite old ones, is their light weight, short size, and density of fire. And that makes a hell of a difference on the battlefield. For the same reason a knife, in the good hands, is a much more versatile in fighting, more quickly deployed, compact, and easily carried weapon, to compare to a sword, or 13" half-sword.
@klinok19 Hey, I do have some experience with modern weaponry, I am in the military as well. It's true the chances of a modern encounter of close quarters combat are practically zero but the chance is there. I've had my M16 jam up and have to perform several emergenct actions to clear it during a slow fire, i've never fired a pistol before but the margin of error is much wider with a pistol and it does take training with them consistantly if they are to be effective. I'm not trying to
@klinok19 make a clear cut distinction here, my aim in discussions like these are to ensure an understanding on both sides. If you make a good point then you do, if I do then I do. I do have a better understanding of modern tactics and weaponry than others by way of my military affiliation then your regular shmuckately, and I do not aim to shoot others down.
How about this: a modern solder, armed with an automatic rifle, a pistol, and an backup pistol, will never have to resort to close quarter knife combat. Chances of this happening are practically zero. But, the knife fighting is a great art, that is worth learning, as it will keep a man fit, agile, quick, well coordinated, combat aware, etc.
@BrazenMudrain. You are in such a unenlightened state about modern military machine. -:)) How about going back to such proven, old weapons like stone and stick. You know, in capable hands, they are as deadly as your sword, knife, or any of other "old" and "lethal" stuff you are advocating here.
@BrazenMudrain. Perhaps, with all the study you have done, a little practice in a real, modern military, or at least watching the Discovery channel about it, would help you to understand the challenges and gear, and tactics, and the differences with older times solder's gear and tactics. I can't give you the lesson here, man, you have to educate yourself better, that's all I am going to say. Practicing with older types weapons in your backyard is fine, but please, don't draw any conclusions
Your guy claimed that this knife is designed and good for use in combat, like the ones going on in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now, this knife could be a good collector's or a practicing value, and of the great design, but the field of modern combat is a very particular field, and the gear and weapons designed for it have to respond to specific conditions, needs and possibilities. Military science addresses those. Just an imagination alone will not help to design a suitable tool, you've got to und
@klinok19 I would think, since this knife is older than the amount of time gunpowder has been in use, it has already proven its reliability in combat. The field of ancient combat was no less in particular, knives like these are still being used less lethaly today. In a combat situation, particularly close quarters, I would rather draw upon reliable older arts and tools. I love firing my rifle but its not as powerful of a feeling for myself as if I were utilizing a weapon like this.
@klinok19 I have trained in flak and kevlar, as well as felt what old armor feels like. It's almost the same. Regardless of a knife being shorter or longer, and regardless of the quality protection military science offers us human beings have not changed enough physically to allow incredible differences in designs of body protection. Wearing my Flak I feel little change in the amount of protection when practicing close quarter martial arts, especially someone using a knife against me.
@klinok19 The same gaps that existed even for European plate armor still exist for todays Modern combat soldiers. The neck, armpits, groin, back of the knees, the bottom lip of a flak will not stop a knife in an experienced users hands. A firearm however with sappy plates I feel more protected and secure. Thats what its designed primarily for. For your accusation of a supposed bubble, that supposed dream world has thousands of years of history standing behind its existence and reliabilty.
@klinok19 For myself I learn historical arts dealing from grappling, to longsword, to sword and buckler because my heritage and the whole of the european western world are apart of it. I can look in manuals from the 15th centuary and see techniques that are branded as evolutionary in the present time because no one had put thought into it. All present day military tactics are learned and based from these rustic tools, as you appear to claim they are. There is a hell of a lot more to it then
@klinok19 pulling a trigger. So I feel sorry for you that our community of historians and martial practictioners have not passed on our message. You can continue to love your firearms and modern combat beliefs, hell i'm going to go shoot some of my own firearms. But never assume anything Modern is superior to that of old, nor vice versa.
@crktchannel. This video proves that he learned to cut bamboo, and that knives of this length were used in combat of no later than World War One. In WW2 combat knives were no longer than 6". In modern combat, considering the gear, and modern fighting technique, the optimal length is no more than 5.5". That's all I can tell you. Choose your knife "experts" more carefully.
@klinok19 We encourage you to research facts prior to posting online commentary that is inaccurate. If you researched James Williams background you would find that he has trained Close Quarter Combat to both foreign and domestic police and military. For further accurate information visit Dojo of the Four Winds Instructor information. Thanks, CRKT.
These "samurai(s)" living in the dream world just crack me up...Lol! Guys, why don't you go outside of your bubble world and learn about modern combat knife fighting.
Still in the process. I got cut a couple weeks ago down my right thigh. Funny thing is, it barely touched me at all. I didn't even think it had cut me at first, cuz it went through so easily.
It's actually kinda hard to slip onto the blade if you have a proper grip on this handle. The lack of a tsuba disturbed me at first as well, but the cord wrapping on the knife makes up for it. I haven't seen it while it's wet yet though...
This also cuts through flesh really well. The only reason I know this is cuz my friend dropped the knife on my leg. -_-
James Williams is a fraud. He never trained under anyone. He was never in the military or Police. He attended a few seminars to take photos with famous teachers. He is a big pussy.
Nice knife. Only concern is the lack of a guard, or tsuba. Accidental slippage on the blade would not be pretty. However I love the design. I hate the look of Americanized Tantos, I like this blade because it has the belly typically seen with drop point and clip point knife designs, but the piercing power of a tanto, spear point, or needle point design.
I would prefer a good quality kukri from Himalayan Imports. This would not only split haji's wig but can be used for serious utility work.I own a 15'' kukri form this company and you could cut a fucking tree down with this thing and still stay sharp enough to hack off heads and limbs!!!Just my two cents!!!
@jmor697 haha why? because he can slash a stick apart? lets see him do that to a man. i wonder how it slashes through bone. either way that knife it looks pretty nice. you could cut someones head off with that beauty. look how it gleams in the sun
@BixNoodTube2 That stick is green bamboo, about the same density as a man's wrist. The tameshigiri bundle he slices up effortlessly is approximately the same width and density as the average man's neck.
it's hard to take a man seriously when he's wearing a dress and white socks with sandals. that knife looks good though. i wonder if they make one with a shorter blade and a lanyard hole. i like a thin high curved blade. better for quick slash cuts and stabbing
@BixNoodTube2 With a jackass comment like that I doubt you know you're asshole from you're elbo when it comes to fighting with a knife so what does it matter if there is a short one with a hole?
@MrWer1138 fuck u bitch you dont know me. i would gut you like a fish. send me your address please. i would like to sneak in your window and slice you
@BixNoodTube2 If you met me in the real world you would shit your pants, the last thing on youre mind would be trying to cut me.Big talk on the computer dont mean shit. You crack me up hahahahaha
the only thing i dont like about this knife is that it doesnt have a guard not even a small one, the cheapest blade and most widely used weapon in the world is a Machete, so if you ever needed to pull this out on someone, whom is wielding a machete, the chances of your fingers being lopped off as a machete slides down this blade in a parry is very high
Yeah but there's more to field work than chopping up ragheads. Do you honestly want to use this for chopping up wood, cutting open ration packeges, hammering in tent stakes, popping open jars and cans, probing the ground for IEDs? The hisshou is great for people, but kinda delicate for the other stuff.
Sounds like klinok19 should should write a book. He has it all figured out! This knife has a great design made with quality materials. And would make an excellent addition to a ready pak. Thanks James

Also, I'm reasonably sure that standard issue knives are larger than 5 1/2 inches. I know for a fact that my k-bar is 7 1/2.
