Always try and keep a good idea of where your opponent is located,

if your trying to lose a tail don't keep moving in the same direction i.e If your doing a backflip loop to the right at the apex start banking left.

Also learn your HUD your gun can be used at long range if you line them up at the right spot, try engaging aircraft from long range to get a feel.
