That little machine is cool and creepy at the same time...I would have to cover up that face it has got as for some reason it remindes me of Deliverance....Weeeeee! Squeel like a pig boy!
It's very cool seeing the thingamaloop used in an overtly musical way like this. Sure it's a noisemaker, but noisemakers should definitely get harnessed like this : )
So Blake.. where'd the thingamagoop come from? Dang..It feels like the thang is LOOkin' at me in the demo! Unsettling..
a little! But- FUN demo! Shows a nice alternative use for the Slicer! Just got one meself.. makes me think I need to run some other things thru it besides a guitar!
it's the little box with a face on... on the nose there is a light sensitive sensor making noise whenever it senses light, and on the knobs and switches you adjust the rate of light coming from the diode, the pitch of the noise etc.
it's really cool to make a rhythm out of chaotic sounds or pad-sounds. i don't know, if it is so great for guitar.
but that's the old mistake of BOSS i think, they develop stuff, that they build for blues guitarists etc. and in the end it's more the soundscapy/electro people using it.
Blake.. actually .. it IS pretty darn cool for guitar... I like that it can make a guitar sound like something else. I don't think BOSS made this JUSt for guitar players. Like you, I think people are gonna figure out that you can do a LOT of
different things w/ it. I like that it creates strong rhythmic grooves even if you don't have a drummer.

can you run the thingamagoop through a feedback loop pedal?
and then have thingamagoop and guitar at once?
BlackVortex 2 years ago
That's rad. I'm going to get a Slicer to run a keyboard through!

Great! Is the Slicer all you hoped it would be? I'm very interested in this pedal.

@blakefielding I disagree, I think they knew who they were making this for, otherwise they wouldn't even develope stuff like this.
