UFC/Dana White, has his fighters sign exclusive contracts. This is a very common business practice, not just in fighting but all over the world of business. When Google hires you as a creative consultant, you get an exclusive contract, you can't moonlight working at Yahoo.
Fedor won't fight with the UFC because he doesn't want to give up Sambo competitions.
Dana White is not evil, he is not destroying MMA. He has brought MMA to the place it is today. A sport, a sport recognized by each states sporting commissions.
I understand Fedor's drive in Sambo. I also understand he is the best Sambo fighter. But we will never know if he is truly the greatest MMA fighter until he gives up Sambo for the elite fighters of the UFC.

I'm on no bandwagon, i've held this opinion for a while.
Fedor hasn't had a decisive victory over a elite fighter since, like, '05.
Was he the best HW 00-05? Yes, is he the best now? We don't (and most likely wont) know.
