Please listen to this song by it's composer, Daniel Lanois. It's a complicated song.. is it physical or spiritual, secular or sacred? But mostly because no one can sing such a soul-bearing song but the composer. The beauty of this song comes from the soul of Daniel Lanois.
i found a better sound playing this song with both E's dropped to D. whether or not that's correct, i really enjoy that sound... this is a beautiful song...
I'm surprised that everyone is commenting on his beautiful voice for this video. I love Jeff's voice, but I'm pretty sure he said earlier on this same show that he had a bad cold, and it shows. :)
i couldn't find the proper chords either but it appears he's using some type of open tuning..wish i knew which one. please let us know if you figure it out.
Hehe, I've always thought there's something similar about Jeff Martin and Jim Morrison beyond just their looks and initials, but I never got the impression Jeff was trying to follow in Jim's footsteps either.
Their styles are/were very different, yet there's still some kind of indescribable link that nags in the back of the mind!
Watched the Dude in Australia, and have a live CD from one of his gigs. What an amazing man.
Other than having my eyes open, i sing like Jeff in my car. (In my mind!)

Jeff plays this song in DADGAD btw. He's like wine, his voice is getting better with age..

It is amazing that his voice in this crappy clip sounds almost exactly like the studio version. So, so talented.

Just to comment on murkelthemusician's guess in his video description that this is from Canadian TV - yes, it is. It's from Much Music in Toronto.

Absolutely beautiful. Jeff Martin is a "natural" with singing and guitar playing. One of the best concerts I ever saw was the Tea Party in 1995
