Nah, he had the same "media persona" with the press before the crash, if you see press conferences and the like with him from 1995 and before. Not disputing that the crash did affect his speech, but I think he always liked giving the media those laconic answers!

I think that is because it's before the accident in Adelaide '95. He talked slower after it. Maybe...:P
