  • The number of Natives who died is 3 times as much as the number of Jews killed in the Holocaust.

  • @byakuugan86 Ya, but it's funny how everyone knows who Hitler is, but hardly anyone knows names like Custer or Serra.

  • @skcabtewon

Irony, the ignorant accusing someone else of being ignorant! I’m sure your words convinced people that this world is still full of small-minded hateful individuals. Yes, Native American culture is slowly disappearing in time which is a sad thing, but I can't wait until people like you and your false ideas of history disappear, which will be a spectacular moment in time!

  • @skcabtewon

Yet, the foods the Native Americans possessed during this time corn, squash, beans, potatoes, and many more were stolen by the Europeans, sent across continents and remains a staple in what the world eats. None the lease this has allowed the world to live longer. Written language=what, not survival, which is what everyone during those times main concern was.

  • @skcabtewon

This date marked the beginning of the long road of persecution and genocide of Native Americans, our indigenous people. Genocide was an important cause of the decline for many tribes. In the 1910 census, the total population of North American Indians was about 400,000, down from about 18 -19 million in 1492.

  • @skcabtewon

First of all im not really sure where you received your education, but I'll bet you didn't even graduate from High School, let alone a University. The diseases didn't exist in N.America as well as S.America where the climate stayed warm. The following is what truly happened in History:

The mass killings of Native Americans upon the arrival of European settlers starting from day one in 1492, the year Christopher Columbus accidently landed in the Bahamas when in route to India.

  • @skcabtewon

You small minded person, acckoledgement that human beings occupy an existing area during those times should be just enough. Comparison to deer, really, I feel sorry for your family who has to deal with such an ignorant, un-educated individual.

  • hell our land was taken,, and if we were to charge rent we would be rich...

  • That was great! Good points you brought up! I think most people forget about that. It's just karma coming to bite us in the butts! ahahha!

  • I see where you are coming from on the Native American issue.

  • As far as mascots being offensive I think it depends on the mascot and how it's portrayed. I can see the redskins and Cleveland Indian's picture as being offensive. But I don't feel the same about the ATL Braves or Kansas City Chiefs. Those two aren't that different than the USC Trojans and Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Again,I think it's more about how the teams or schools handle or portray the mascots that can make them offensive.

  • Your lucky we didn't kill every native. This is our land now bitch.

  • What's the difference? You're right, but when you lose you lose big. Native Americans really should have killed the first Europeans to arrive, but they didn't and it cost them a continent. This should be a warning to us in the modern United States. We can lose our nation and culture if we let in to many foreigners who hate our customs. As to the sports teams well people come out to see the teams not because of their names. If there really was support for a change there would be people don't care

  • @NJburbsSeeker How exactly could they have done that with their technology compared to the Europeans? The Europeans also brought along diseases that were foreign to the Native Americans, the Aztecs, etc. and this is the biological warfare coming into play. What was BAD about it is that the Europeans wanted to bigots because they were white and since white usually means purity (the Bible was one of their biggest aspects of life back then) they figured they were better than them.

  • @Persona100Duh You just figure out all this today? Native Americans lost, and to the victor goes the spoils. It is a different language and culture is used because of that. Europe was filled many different groups than the countries that rule today. No culture gets to claim the moral high ground, and the Native Americans were no different. They killed off the people that were in North America when they got here.

  • @NJburbsSeeker No, I've actually known this for years. I just don't know very many rational, level-headed people to talk about it with. XD

  • @Persona100Duh Is that an attempt at being witty?

  • @NJburbsSeeker No, no! It's not like that at all! I'm being honest with you; not witty.

  • Thanks for the thoughtful video. I came into it disagreeing with you and left disagreeing with you, but not once did I feel like I was being lectured of vilified for holding a contrary opinion. Pretty rare feat, at least on youtube. =P

  • I agree with your view on pro sports teams. @0:45 - 1:02 Why would we speak a Native American language if English speakers founded this country? They founded a nation (the historically typical way, all be it a poor one) and set it up to their ways. Besides, too many native languages to chose from.

  • I am 1/4 native American ( Seminole) and I don't have a problem with this stuff.

  • Let me add, I hope my last isn't too cold because I actually love people of all backgrounds. I see all of us here in a big melting pot, but as Americans First, having a diverse cultural base which makes America strong. Evolution dictates the primary language, but it doesn't mean we have to abandon our culture. We are Americans and we will fight together when threatened. You will fight with your fellow Americans and that's what counts. Race related tensions happen when we forget the basics.

  • I get your perspective, but no. Darwins law takes precedence. After a people take the land from another people they actually own it and make the rules, so the people need to abide by those rules or build bigger guns to take it back. Otherwise, we'd be making signs in twenty different languages to represent people who ever decided to immigrate here. It's the responsibility of the newcomer to learn the language, not the resident to accommodate. It really isn't hard. BTW, the song was great!

  • Atypical in-bred white trash racist drivel being spouted as knowledge & facts!

The TRUTH is that while some tribes did fight amongst each other there was much more peace & harmont between the tribes!

You comment how the(WE) were nothing but "a bunch of savages" well it wasnt US who started the pilligeing, raping & murdering!

The Europeans started almost from the momeent they landed on these shores!

The Native Americans were more than willing to share the land & help their white brothers!

  • but the Europeans wanted EVERYTHING!!!

Even today the opression of the AMERICAN INDIAN is continuing unabated!

Look at where many of our tribes are FORCED to live!!!

Reservations that are so bad that they make the ghettos of the inner city look like Beverly Hill Mansions!

& dont even bother with the drivel "well no-one is forcing them to live there"

because the facts are that MANY AMERICANS BLACK & WHITE still hold on to the prejudices that the AMERICAN INDIANs are less than human!

  • @geocoop60 Native Americans can and do leave the reservations anytime they want. They are American citizens and have the right to live and work where they chose. Many stay on the reservations to preserve their culture and stay with their families. Be honest tho, some reservations are in bad shape but some are doing very well. FYI, my grandmother was Seminole Indian.

  • @geocoop60

    Deal with it!

  • @columbia9000, I'm Guessing Your So Proud of Your Disease infested, Scummy Ancestors whose disease & Filth Caused The Death of Millions? You're a Generic Fool with No Culture. We Beautiful Natives Are Still Here & Proudly Contribute To The Browning of America!

  • Ha well as a Native American my language makes me who i am which is Navajo and not only my language but my traditions and culture. ha and im not offended by these mascots, actually its an honor because it shows that natives were fearless and strong.

  • VERY TRUE

  • This video is why I'm subscribing to you.

  • Anyone born and raised in the USA is a "Native American". BTW, i'M 1/4th Cherokee and Powhatan Indian respectively.

  • I have heard it said "Ask the Native American's what happens when you don't control immigration". Sad to say, nobody thinks about it as it encroaches on the current country occupants.

  • Some good points. There are many Native American languages though, so it would be just as complicated to revert back, and many of the Native Americans have assemilated into the culture of this country very well. I'm part Cherokee, part Choctaw, part French, part Irish, and part English. All of my descendants learned to speak English. If we don't say press one for Muskogean, then we certainly shouldn't say press one for Spanish.

    Just my take on it,

Thanks for bringing the issue forth.

  • ha well it's nice of you to think of native americans..I am part Native american and I have to say most don't even comment on things like that i mean why make a fuss over it? Anyhoo what's done is done and i too wish english was our official language!! =)

  • to the victors belong the spoils, squanto.....moreover, white euros saved the red man from his own moribund culture.......you live in the most successful social experiment in man's history........and your trail of tears whining is gettin' a bit old.....grow up, stop snivelin'........ and get out there and get your slice of the American pie.....but do it in english......

  • I guess the problems I have with all this is that I am forced to press 1 for English. I don't really care about people coming to this country who want to speak a different language, or hang on to their heritage, more power to them. Everyone tries to be so politically correct to a point of being so sickening, I want rotary phones to be brought back so I don't have to press 1.

  • oh wow. @sdenny2002, u start out sayin "you indians" and at the end u finish by saying dat ur cherokee...... lol sounds like to me that ur jus claiming cherokee jus to get the benefits right? let me kno if im wrong. lol white cherokees crack me up!! lmao! yeah nuthin about the rant, jus dat comment was funny!

  • Dude, there are more people speaking Cree than French in Canada. Guess what the official languages are...definitely not English and Cree.

Whites are the most violent, underhanded and disrespectful bunch on the planet. So, no wonder English is first and mascots make money...

It's like my friend Ernie Phillip said, "The white Man has ruined everything he's touched!".

Keep drumming. Dominant culture is fading fast.

  • Mexicans are a ethnic group, but im tired of going out and everything is in English/Spanish... I feel if you move here you should LEARN English.... So tell your friends NJN to learn to speak it, and I am not naive...

  • it really doesn't make any difference does it, cant we all just get along, you speak what ever you want this is America, land of the free!!!!!

  • @limapeaks i agree but this might never happen because people are just people

  • You Indians need to get a grip. You are out of touch. Go back to the history books and get the truth about the indians and their land.Little one you do not have a clue what you are ranting about.Get your facts in order.English is the language of the United States.Adjust. By the way, Iam have Cherokee Indian.

  • ZZZZzzzzzz ZZZZZzzzzzz Someone wake me up when this rant is over plz!

  • Stick to drumming.

  • but go ravens...

  • adelphitom,

it's always good to hear someone speak the truth.

  • English is not the official language and the way things are going, America will soon be bilingual. yes english AND spanish. white people invaded, so why can't Mexicans "native people" invade too? dun dun DUN.. karma is a bitch isn't it?

  • Mexicans can be white too, don't sound so naive. Hispanics are not a race we are an ethnic group of other ethnic groups.

  • The things you're saying are things we already know, and to be honest, most people don't care. Where's your funny song to help engage us in your point of view, or enlighten us to something we don't already know.

  • Finally a rational thought! well said JDLhnnew

  • You are awesome. You should go into acting because you have so much character and personality. You say a lot with your facial expressions [quite adorable] You are a thinker too. I enjoyed listening to you.

  • couldn't agree more. props

  • A reply to hv8ny Its true that the natives had no bilbles and etc etc how ever America was built the on the principles of immigrants or settlers First came the british then the spanish then the african slaves and etc etc and to be technical the Asians built train tracks as the africans built the white house so it was not just the white settlers who made America all of us as a people made america and yes we should speak english but thats what makes our country so great cuz we dont have to.....

  • Does this idiot even realize that when the Indians were inhabiting this land it wasn't the United States of America. It was the white settlers who created America with the guidelines of the Constitution, The Bill of Rights and The Bible. The Indians were basically living as prehistoric people with no written language or alphabet. Yeah, that would have survived Nazi Germany and Imperialistic Japan. Take your own advice pal and read some history books.

  • oDD IS THE ONLY WORD FOR THIS JERK

  • Sadly, history is written by the conquerors who tend to put a spin on facts and perceptions. What really is the truth? Even the Freedom of Informations Act reveals only the tip of the iceberg of what is hidden by the government. What a strange trip this has been. Imagine...

  • A society conquering another society, it happens. Why should it matter that Indians we're here before us?

(Yes, Indians, not First Nations because there are no people approprietly called First Nations)

  • LMAO I Agree! That is totally awesome. It's always amazing that people tend to forget that "white" people weren't the firsts here. Which is funny to me, since I myself am "white".

  • 'tigerprince '

cleary you have no idea what your talking about, and until you do, im gonna suggest that you dont piss anymore people off.

  • thumbs up, accidentally hit down:)

  • lol of course i know what im talking about. i live amongst them for crying out loud. Theyre all drunks who fight loudly and beat their girls on the weekends and take shit in stairwells and piss in lobbys. thats not fiction either it happens all the time up here. When your surrounded by that how can you not be rascist?

  • Native American languages culture and history should be required learning in our public schools (through 12th grade, not just in elementary school) imo.

But we can't have that! Because what it really comes down to is that the (government's) goal is to keep everyone separated and ignorant and intolerant of each other so that we spend our time distracted and fighting amongst ourselves instead of asking too many questions and banding together to rise up against them lol...

    :o

  • Then move!

  • Hm, here's an idea...Why don't you move make to Europe or where ever you ancestors came from and recognize that our on INDIAN LAND NOW SUCKA.

  • haha nice one, now you remember that white people gave you guys technology. OOPS WAIT! you had technology! It was called teepees and fur.

  • Oops! Was it just me, or would your ass still be here if you weren't celebrating the National holiday called Thanksgiving? Hm, don't think so!

  • I dont celebrate that day actually. All Im trying to say is that every single native ive ever met in my entire life has been a drunken loser.

  • owned!

  • tiggerprince, you want to fuck r native girls in their tight pussy?

  • Rosetta Stone should have a,How To Speak Native American. No sarcasm intended. From what I understand the Rosetta Stone Company is researching the many tongues of the Native Americans.I hope it comes to fruition.

  • I agree whole heartedly!Speak the native language of this land! That being Native American! However there are so many tongues in the Native American culture. How does one determine which tongue to speak?Cherokee?Sioux?Blackfoot?Cheyenne? Then there are several dialects of each tribe.Tell me and I will be more than happy to learn and master it!

  • Jersy ... Nahuatl was the trading language amoung all 500 native nations...

  • Would love to see a diverse Native American language teaching tool from Rosetta Stone. This country speaks diversity so then we should teach it in all apsects.

  • english only is good enough for me and as for mascots how about the fighting irish of notre dame i dont hear you saying anything about that.

  • that's because we didn't run the irish out of their country, we invited them into it

  • Great reply to nuttybar~

  • @adelphitom The more languages you speak, the more educated and cultured you are.

  • I'm all about equity for indigenous peoples, but on the language issue....

How many tribal languages were there, and should we learn them all? That's why "one" language is best, but i feel we all should know more than one.

As far as corporate "Indian" names. I think it's too skeptical a stance for Native Americans to be offended by the names. They are not used in a derogatory sense, in fact they are used in a heroic sense.

So point #2 is also weak.

    Perception...

  • england is english.

america includes puerto rico and incorporated much of the southwest with its spanish-speaking people. spanish is as natural a part of america as english. spanish, french and english are some of the only truly int'l languages. one hears them in all parts of the world, even where a fourth language is the local vernacular. we love freedom so much? how about we respect the freedoom of speech a little better

  • well, natives have there rez lands, so they should quit there bitching.

  • That would be "their" bitching. "There" refers to a place. "Their " refers to people. English, anyone?

  • whatever fuck man this is youtube. im not writing a damn essay.

  • the guy on th 20 dollar bill had it best...

he vewed natives as a conquered people

  • The United States did kill off almost 97% of the Native American population by the 1890's. This is a proven fact.

I do agree that the Washington Redskins should change their name because they have a derogatory name on the same lines as calling a black person the bad "N" word. I do think you will get angry people saying crap though because they may find your words offensive.

I don't though because I learned the true history of this country.

  • @haiku96708

Since you learned the 'true' history can you tell me if some tribes of Native Americans fought with the French against the British and their Native American allies? Did any fight with the colonists and later Americans against the Native Americans that fought with the British in war against the United States? And by the way, please provide the proof you speak of.

  • @haiku96708

Actually it was 98%, but close enough. What Native Americans are left do speak English, though.

  • @haiku96708 You are right in saying the native American got a bad break. With about three different tribes of Native Americans running through my veins, I have to say I didn't take the Indians land, I also have a bit of Irish and English in my blood too. While I am taking no blame for not taking this land from other, I wasn't around when the slaves were brought in ships to other countires as well as America. I also may have some of the slaves blood in my veins. Can't we just love each other?

  • Part Two

Shoudln't an apology, as well as hundreds of millions of taxpayers' dollars be enough? Now the grandchildren of those who were abused are expecting the government to cater to their every need. Is this what we should be teaching them? Giving them all this money to spend on designer clothes and fast food so that they've got nothing left to use for school or something worthwhile?

Sorry, I got carried away. There's a full rant on my page if you or anyone else is interested.

  • Well, I have mixed feelings about this. Sure, it would be nice to the small percentage of Native Americans if there was a Native language present, but then on the other hand, where does this stem from? That they don't live like they used to. a lot of Native ceremonies (I'm Metis, by the by.) are based on old traditions, ones that have been out of date for nearly a century. In Canada here, the Federal goverment just released a public apology to the Native Americans for what happened. (Part one)

  • wow...Someone finally came out and said that!! Thank god that there are still people like you. People have conveniently forgotten about the injustice done to the native Americans and now they bitch and moan about immigrants!!

"Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

    Send these — the homeless, tempest-tossed — to me;

I lift my lamp beside the Golden Door."

This is the America we should have!!

  • here in canada Natives go to college for free and i'm not 1/16th native so me and my family are trying to get cards

  • Natives don't go to college for free; the Federal Government takes tax dollars to pay for the fees, the books, any equipment they want/need AND ALL OF THIER LIVING EXPENSES. Nothing is free; someone has to pay for it, one way or another. Remember that.

  • @SawdustProductions:

For reals and how do you go about collecting this for school

  • Oriels - BOOOO

  • you do make some good points but like it or not english speaking people came over and won through death and war, we are somewhat civilized these days but history can repeat it's self if the right buttons are pushed. also native americans do have a voice they can vote...representation without taxation plus lots of government money

  • "...representation without taxation plus lots of government money." What the heck are you talking about? Oh, you think that we don't pay taxes? WRONG!. The government money? HA. First, this so called money is basically decades worth of past due payments promised by treaties but never delivered. Second, what little we do receive isn't nearly enough. Visit Rosebud, Pine Ridge or Tuba City if you think Native Americans have a voice in what the government does to us.

  • So the sins of the fathers are dumped onto the sons, is that what you're saying?

  • Wow, Tom, you totally deserve all this harsh criticism. Don't you know this is America?? We obviously don't allow opinion or the right to free speech here and will damn you for it! Well, except for our right to tell you to go bleach yourself...we reserve that one.

*This is said in a stereotypically low 'twangy' voice that clearly demonstrates the sarcasm with which this response was created.

  • Hey Tom, I posted a video for our euro friends. They emailed me and requested that I post their video as a response to your rant. Enjoy! Those Euros are right about a lot of things...

  • You bring up some very good points - as you can see most people really don't want to hear about it, and after all these years, the native people are still struggling to get a voice.

Anyway, thanks for starting the conversation - to give up.

    Aho - Toksa

    Tahosapiya

  • Thank you for being the only intelligent person to comment on this video thus far, actually getting the point instead of wanting to see flames shoot out of my ass. =)

  • @adelphitom

Actually, Native Americans are no more American than anyone else whose ancestors came here. Unless someone is suggesting Native Americans' ancestors didn't immigrate to the Western Hemisphere. I am not excusing the terrible treatment some Native Americans received from Europeans and later Americans but they warred against each other, also. Doesn't Quebec insist on French first, and France, also, and so many want to be like them it must be all right. :-)

  • BOOOOOOORING!!!!! go drink bleach.

  • haha thanks
