Quick question I have mariner 90 hp 1982 model we replaced the water pump impeller and when we reinstalled the lower it wont shift???? Yes we checked the shifter it has 3 positions and has been placed correctly and is in the splines seems to be correct. How easy is it to dissassemble the lower to se the shift linkage clutch dog parts??? Appreciate any input. thanks powerguy64@yahoo.com
@powerguy64 Hi you may have already got it sorted but if you take off the gear box again and turn the shift shaft until you find Neutral, (Its probably in forward gear) Then put back together you should find its lined up again. Obviously controls has to be in Neutral to. Sometimes the shift shaft can move when gearbox is removed as its under pressure by a spring.(you could mark it sraight away when removed with a bit of tipex , Then you will know if its moved).
@shipshapetn i just rebuilt my yam FT 50 and it has got a knock noise in it, i think the dog clutch is jumping or not engaging properly or trying to engage both gears at the same time. what do u reckon.
That is exactly how the inner workings of old hosiery machines are. It helps me immensely, Thank you for the video. Most worthwhile one I've seen in a long time.
