Shutter Island is real masterpiece - great acting, directing, producing, everything. Some moments were even scary. Leonardo DiCaprio is real master (Leo acts even better than Johnny Depp). Ben Kingsley and Mark Ruffalo were great as well but I don't understand why so many people found the ending unpredictable. I predicted the ending after first 20-30 minutes. This movie is masterpiece but not as unpredictable as The Others, The Game, Identity, Fight Club, Cube 2 or The Prestige

@TheNigerianScammer the point of this film isent to hidde the "ending revelation"...the film show clues of what it is going to happen to teddy(dicaprio) at the end because we (viewers are teddys eyes) so his doctors plays along the way with him giving clues to teddy for he find out himself why he is really at the island and what he did, it is a great psychological trhiller!

@sxephlI Hmm i see what you mean but i dont think most of it was intentional, quite a lot of the dialogue sequences for example just look badly edited, like the actors will be looking in a different direction at the shot change or there hands will be in different positions. I hate to be pernikity but this just seemed sloppy.

@vagal456 i think this is the point sxephlI was making. martin scorsese is a master, undoubtedly, and although 'guilty' of a small number of errors in the past, there are a higher number in shutter island. scorsese is also a great user of psychology in film to interact with the audience, most of the time on a subconscious level

Man this movie was good, but I think watching it once is enough. It left me so mentally exhausted. By the ending I was questioning my own sanity lol I was like "Scorsesse! STOP messing with my head!!!!!! O_O" lol crazay movie and the ending was so ...odd. I was wondering if the ending was suppose to be left to the viewers interpretation or if what was "established" the actual truth .... o.O

this movie is amazing!! it left me mentally tired from all the suspense and even though everyone posted that there was a twist at the end, it was still incredible to see how the movie progressed. (Leonardo DiCaprio's cry when he did a flahsback kind of ruined the moment but hes still a genius actor)

@brwan23 They pretty much control almost everything. They choose where the camera is placed and moved, the lighting sometimes, the music. If a movie is good than it probably had a good director, if a movie had a good plot but was bad than it's most likely bad directing (The Island for example)
