I like the sound system you put in there. Were you able to time it with the driving motion? What was the sound system manufacuturer? Did you replace any of the drive train? Looks awsome paint.
Remote volume! That is only one reason the PFM system is much more to my liking than any of current systems. Volume, cutoff and even separate reverb and echo from the scenery itself are possible only with this system as well as the fabulous effect of "flanging" which brings all of the sounds to life from an otherwise "dead" state. You have to hear this for yourself!
Wow, that's a smooth operator. Most brass of that era didn't run well. Keep in mind that the real DM&IR Yellowstones were still running when that was built!
I bought mine (an SP AC-11 version) on eBay. Mine was imported in 1958, a little earlier, and was just recently painted for the first time. I swapped out the seized Pittman motor for an NWSL can and coupling system and it runs like a Swiss watch now. Total invested: $190 for the engine, in the original box and paper/cardboard packing, $50 for the driveline, and $125 for the paint. Result? Priceless!
This is my friend's, so I'm sorry the answer is "I don't know".
If you really want to get one, keep watching eBay. However, this was made almost 50 years ago and even though you are lucky enough to get one, it might have issues (damaged, not running, etc).
I don't know how much you are familiar with brass locomotives, but if you are not, I would recommend to start with Athearn Bigboy or similar ones. Hope this helps.
Well, time is give equal to everybody and we cannot do anything about it, but lots of people enjoy model railroading with limited amount of money (me too!). Visit your local hobby shop or club and I hope you can find your way of enjoying model railroading.
It's an impressive model but would be even more so with an ore train behind it.

At this distance, you are inaudible to me...and thats a good thing!

Without no load, the exhaust would be inaudible at this (scale) distance.

@paullubliner
True, but who wants to change the volume every time you go to use it with or without a load?

Looks great, but it could use a new wheelset, the running gear just doesn't look right to me.

There are two, 222 and 225 at my local hobby store, Carrs Hobby. But they are more expensive then all my model trains put together.

I love model trains. Your video of that model makes me wish I still had the time and money. ;-)
