hi i love your obi wan voice on the clone wars =).and i can do some weird voices and i dont know if i want to make a vid of it. can you help.help me james.your my only guy.
I love Tidus's voice so much from Final Fantasy X. I know you are the actor of that but was that your normal voice? Or was you acting the voice when you did Tidus?
dude this is so sweet watching a master at work. i'm not really a voice actor, but as a musician with a fair amount of long and tedious studio work under my belt, i think i admire your patience between takes almost as much as your acting skills. hope you don't mind that i'm stealing your swimming in the fish tank gag next time i'm doing a vocal session in the studio. keep on rockin james!
It was so nice to hear your voice. :) i'll always remember to your voice as Tidus's, because in FFX was the first time i heard you. And your voice stuck inside me for eternity. :) You just can't beleive how much is this means to me. :) Thanks for everything.
I LOVE your voice(es) You're AMAZING!!! Hey, I have a question for you... I really, really, REALLY want to be a voice acterss... how did you get started??? Where should I start, plus (this is extremelly nerdy I know) but I've done some fandubs of characters in final fantasy X and I would really appreciate it if you checked them out. :)
the most youthful voice in the wood of holly. Ratchet and Peter Parker come to mind. alongside Dee, two of the best since i can remember. loved the Captain Quark voice. my friends and i want to make some comedy sketches and any advice would be appreciated. P.s group of friends i share are quiet versatile with voices, accents and dept of tone.
Out of curiosity, Mr. Taylor, how do you decide to use which microphone? I'm an audiophile and a (relatively) new voice actor myself, so I'm very interested in this kind of stuff. Why did you decide to swap your Neumann TLM103 for the Sennheiser MKH416?
@TheShockMaster Kind of late and I'm not James Taylor, but I've read that sound engineers often request the Sennheiser 416 because it helps cut down on mixing time due to its extremely directional pick-up pattern.
Well, since asking that question, I did some research myself, and you're absolutely right. The 416 helps cut down on mixing time due to its extremely directional pick-up pattern (it was designed as a mic for TV and movies to zoom in on the actor's words above all the background noise), and because it creates a huge "in your face" sound that is good for promos. However, as James pointed out in a previous video, engineers like it more than voice actors--Corey Burton LOAHTES the 416.
Let's say I have voice control and can imitate anything - how easy is it to go directly to animation w/out commercial experience? If I have a demo of voices (ie my 60 seconds) Is it enough to get an audition or do I need a really good agent (how much does it depend on the agent?) Thanks master Obiwan!
First I just wanna say you are amazing and this is very informative. But I have a question. I saw one of your demos and it showed you voiced Jack Sparrow in Kingdom Hearts II. Wikipedia says you also voiced Timon as well; is that true? If not do you know who did? And also who did you voice in Birth by Sleep?
@Ohitsuji12 I'm told by all sources that it was indeed me that voiced Timon in the game but to tell you the truth I don't remember voicing him. If I heard a clip I'd know if it was me. As far as your other question, I don't know of "Birth by Sleep" so I don't believe I voiced anyone in that. Thanks for the kind words!
@JamesArnoldTaylor Oh never mind I checked. It sounds like you but you didn't do it. Also, I meant to type Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep before, sorry.
@Ohitsuji12 To answer that, yes, he did voice the 'Prince' who was not ever named in the Snow White world of Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. It was a VERY short role, probably why he doesn't remember ^^
12:00 I want a James Arnold Taylor screen saver now!!! XD
But I love seeing this Day in the Job stuff. And I'd love to see more, if anything just because - I mean, if I ever could pick a dream job, it would certainly be yours!
@SoaringPikachu That's because my normal voice is Ratchet : ) It's probably why I love voicing him, it's great to actually do a voice that is just me. JAT
I'm kind of voice acting a little right now for some people on YouTube, and I find it very thrilling and fun to hear my voice in videos with many other people. Do you enjoy voice acting a lot? Also, were you Leonardo in TMNT 2007?
@PadawanTano I love Voice-Acting, it is been my career for almost 20 years and I am blessed to do it. Yes, I was Leonardo in TMNT and hope to be in the next film as well. Fingers crossed JAT
"whether you're a fan of apples, tomatoes or onions" instead of the same with "carrots" because they don't think carrots are right. I know more people that like carrots than who like onions.
Woaah...I began craving the carrots and they're dropped!!! Nice voice quality...neutral but engaging to beguile(?) the consumer to patronize the store. I loved the "dramatic" reading! *lol* Did the client use that reading? I also enjoyed the scuba swimming! Bring on Part 4!
Awesome. I knew this kind of stuff took awhile. Since I do voices for Machinima, unprofesionally, I understand a minimum of the life as a voice actor. But it's fun and I wouldn't ever complain about it.
This is a fantastic video. You can always read about what a session is like but rarely do you get to see it for real like this. This was really cool, liked and added to favourites!
@MusicalMeme I like the "Snowball Mic" from "Blue" you can get it at the Apple store or Best Buy, etc. for about 99 bucks. It's a USB and can work with any computer . I use it when I'm on the road and need to do auditions, etc.
just how many times can they change their minds on how to do this promo?

Wow, I never knew that grocery store commercials were so important in dialogue and such. It is reasonable if they are showing certain items on screen.
Is there an explanation behind the echo everytime on their end when you spoke? It just sounded weird to hear the lag between the two.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this Mr. Taylor!
As always, keep up the wonderful work. ;-)
