  • You better believe I'm making people sing and hold hands like this at my funeral.

  • Thumbs up if you want Scotland to become an INDEPENDENT COUNTRY once again !

  • @RangersLadForever

Sinn Fein don't take their place at Westminster as it requires them to swear an oath of loyalty to the Queen or something.

  • Can you imagine singing GSTQ or equivalent in British parliament, it'd never happen because of bloody equality to Sinn Feinn members etc. Well done Scottish parliament for this, good to see that patriotism still exists in these isles.

  • Let's do this in parliament. I would love to see Cameron, Miliband, Nick Griffin and Clegg join hands and rejoice.

  • @16MattC I'm here in the US. I'd like my politicians to at least talk to each other.

  • God Bless Scotland. God Bless you all!

  • Alba Gu Brath Everybody tae rabbie burns and a good Year and @DSQueenie we do nae have an official fae now it's between flower of scotland and scotland the brave

  • Comment removed

  • I actually envy Scottish people, I wish I could see a thing like this in the Italian Parliament: we seem to have forgotten even our national anthem...

  • @paonematteo lol this isn't our national anthem 'flower of scotland' is. This song is sung st new year and as a goodbye song :)

  • I wish I could see this scene in my Parliament too.

    Thai guy.

  • /watch?v=QIHxecNO--E

...the singer has a english mother and a german father and grew up learning english as well as german ..;)

  • this version is maybe the original but it is kind of boring. (this is no offense to england or scotland, i know every country has a boring song as anthem) watch "die toten hosen - auld lang syne" for a better version.

  • on what occasion did they do that???

  • @capgulka I think this might have been the opening of the new parliament building October 9, 2004

  • why can't the American Congress sing like this every now and then. greeting rom west virginia

  • @Spamoy12 I dont think theyve wrote a song about corruption as of yet, but I will keep my ears open.

  • quit trying to sound smart you're making yourself look like a tool

  • God Bless Scotland and her Son's!

  • Im American. Im not Scotish, nor British, but your people certainly deserve full independence from Britain, should you want it.

  • @HalfBornUnicornFetus

and exactly what would that bring other than an annhilated and divided economy?

  • @HelmutVillam

    Independence-much better than nothing.

  • @HalfBornUnicornFetus

-If you knew anything of British history, you'd know that the first King of both England and Scotland was Scottish. It's a marriage of convenience. The Scots 'deserve' nothing.

-The Scots have never had it so good, with the greatest public funding per capita and the best healthcare and education in the UK. Independence has no benefits.

-They don't want it. That's why Salmond is too scared to hold a referendum.

Don't involve yourself in situations you know nothing about.

  • @havering3

Fuck off-Im a Scottish American. My ancestors left around 1710 because of your tyranical rule. They were Jacobites. English healthcare sucks. I hate it when people say we need it here. The last thing we need is rationing. They were going to hold the referendum last year, If I can recall. I know about James Stuart, and Charles I,II, James II, so dont lecture me on your history. If all Brits were assholes, like yourself, I can easilly see why we left in 1776.

  • @HalfBornUnicornFetus There's nothing Scots hate more than Americans describing themselves as Scottish, just for your future reference. Also, at least the UK has universal healthcare, unlike the US where the poorest can't afford it (although I don't really understand why you brought that up, you're clearly a moron, it had nothing to do with the argument). You recall incorrectly, there will never be a referendum because the Scots won't vote for independence. You're American, stay out of it.

  • @HalfBornUnicornFetus You also do seem to need a history lecture: the Stuarts were overthrown by another Scot and a Dutch man. The throne then passed back to another Scot, then to some Germans, with whom it has remained pretty much since - it's got nothing to do with the English. Britain is a happy, united kingdom (hence the name). It's only shit-stirrers harking back to a past and culture that doesn't exist that want independence, of which ignorant American cunts like yourself form a part.

  • @havering3 We get these things "the best healthcare and education in the UK" because unlike you down south we're not afraid to say we want and deserve it. Salmond never held a referendum because the english run parties in scotland wouldn't allow him to have one, it was a minority goverment he ran not a monopoly as we're used to with the UK. It really does pain me to see the people of england without a voice. You need to speak up and demand what you deserve aswell. We all have that right.

  • @HelmutVillam - it would create an economy filled with prosperity due to Scotland being one of the 3 most mineral rich nations in Europe. Not only that but an independent Scotland as a member of the European Union would have major trade links with other European nations, including the United Kingdom- and by the way the facts show that Scotland is missing out in billions of pounds from the oil sector due to our membership of the United Kingdom. Continued next post.......

  • @kalslater And you think if that was the case Scotlands spoils would be distributed evenly ,I dont think so.you would probably squander the riches on booze and deep fried mars bars as is the mentality of my Scottish breathern,it would make the scumbags over there even lazier than they already are.

  • @linoma57 - the word "racist" is thrown around rather a lot these days, but in this circumstance i believe the term is rather fitting. And for your information deep fried mars bars are disgusting and i don't drink. However, how can you be blamed you are American, how can anyone from that country know anything? And before you right an angry reply please be aware that I am not usually a racist person but when the circumstances are right I believe in an eye for an eye.

  • @kalslater if I was to reply in anger id write back matey, [not right back]...........duh!

  • Leaked governemnt documents from London show that an independent Scotland would have massive surpluses on both its surplus and its payments. Because of London's lies we have become the first country in history to have to discovered oil and to have remained realtively poor. Currently there is some 850 billion pounds of oil left in Scotland - if don't become independent we will loose that money. To make that simpler thats 170,000 pounds for every single person in Scotland. We need independence now

  • Yes, he is!

  • Is that Sir Sean Connery at 0.53?

  • @SirFoomy

    Yes, he is!

  • i am of irish descent

  • I <3 Scotland!!!

    <3 <3 <3

  • Happy New Year! We much prefer Auld Lang Syne to Imagine, which seems to be the trendy song to sing. Thank you Robert Burns!

  • I am of Scottish descent and I've been to Scotland and I love Scotland.

I've always admired the guts and courage of that hearty people.

But...I can't understand their cowardice in releasing the mass murderer Abdel Basset Ali al-Megrahi ----on "compassionate grounds" as he was "dying" of cancer.

That was two years ago. al-Megrai is still alive and well.

So, let's wish Auld Lang Syne to the victims of Pan Am Flight 103.

  • @fleurx2 a decision that made the people of scotland furious aswell , we are disgusted also.

  • @fleurx2 what has this got to do with the scottish people?..nothing.......tell you what i wish an "auld lang syne"...to all the scum of the IRA that still donate and raise money in the good ol U S of A......

  • @fleurx2 In Scottish law, any prisoner with a terminal illness has a right to "compassionate release" if death is imminent. Compassion is big in Scotland, its either a strength or a weakness. RIP the victims!

  • @fleurx2 his release has nothing to do with compassion it was about oil... and too right, its about the bigger picture not about minorities of peoples feelings or justice this is reality and its a dog eat dog world in order to punch above our weight WE NEED OIL !! who gives a fuk about megrahi anyway he was following orders from his government and I didn't see the US/UK world police force invading for that did I.

  • There's something about traditional melodies from the British isles that moves the soul... Happy New Year!

  • I once was under the instruction of a college choir director who was descended from Scots...a great guy by the last name of Drummond... I sang this song with the choir in my junior year of college...didn't have a bagpiper with us, but it was SO much fun to sing it anyway! Sadly, this former choirmaster crossed over to the Other Side not too long ago. One of the best pieces of wisdom he ever passed to anyone was from his grandmother: "I'll lay me down to cry a while and rise to fight again!"

  • ¿Podre ver algo parecido algun dia en el Congreso de La Nación Argentina?

  • @MusEVABOR

Do you know that it was your nation, (well the USSR), that first commemorated our Poet, Robert Burns on a stamp, in the 1950's?

  • @brother1ray

I heartily welcome you - a relative in spirit and blood dear to me man, the great Scot, the wonderful world poet - Robert Burns!

Through a unique man of Russia, who passionately loved Burns, in 1956, the USSR, the first time in world history was released on a postage stamp with the image of dear Robin Burns! Thanks to this man and this historic event, exactly 10 years later, in 1966 in the UK happened was unbelievable, but this long-awaited event for the whole of Scotland!!!
