I replaced the distributor on my 94 accord and everything lined up perfectly. BUT I accidentally had two of the wires plugged in incorrectly when I tried to start it. Obviously it didn't turn over until I swapped the wires into their correct spots. But now the car takes about an extra 5 seconds before it start, and it never did that before. Could this have been caused by my mistake? If so how would I remedy this?
@TheDeathatron You may want to check the wires to make sure that they are all seated correctly and that they're not arcing out. You may also want to check the timing with a timing light.
@tduran05 If you follow the basics on this video, you should be able to use some of the same procedures on your 94, to keep the timing in the same place.
I messed up with the rotor location. I cranked up the engine after the distributor was removed, now I don't know the exact location of the rotor. Is there any way I could put the distributor and the rotor correctly. Please help.
@accordncorolla If memory serves correct on this engine you can't actually install the distributor incorrectly. Insert the distributor and turn the rotor until it meshes with the gear inside.
Other engine... Remove the #1 spk plug and have someone crank the engine (dist. unplugged). When you feel air out of the spark plug hole stop cranking. Disconnect Bat. turn the engine by hand, to align timing mark or, have a long screw driver in the spark plug hole (you may have to go forward or back). Goal is to get piston to it's top most position in the cylinder. Install the dist with rotor pointing #1 cylinder wire on the dist cap. Install wires in correct firing order.

From what I uderstand, once I replace the distributor on a 94 accord, I might have timing issues... Is this correct? Or am I mistaken?

hi there, what voltage should i get at the distributor's connector? am trying to diagnose a no spark condition with my 98 v6 accord. THX

@adomayor You may want to refer to a Chiltons or a Haynes manual for this number, they should tell you exactly what it should be for that vehicle.

you should ALWAYS install a new distributor o-ring when removing/replacing the distributor to prevent oil leaks...they cost about $2

Yes the distributor installs in only one way on the Honda... Now my Car is running great without the tachometer swaying all around.
Thank you..
