what kind of machine/app creates the ticking sound in the solo synth, does it have a name?

@lmbonapart It's propably just little pieces of the piano playing. If you cut away the attack (/start) of a note and don't use a volume envelope you get those clicks. So you can create this in any daw that's capable of working with wave files.
