To install Windows 3.1 I think I needed about 67 floppy disk. They came in this one huge box.It took us 9 hours to install it.When I had to reinstall it one floppy was missing. It took me 6 weeks to get it from windows and about 7 phones calls to their rep.I was 14.But yeah I too still use the 98 version there are softwares and cd roms that I can't use anywhere else and they need the old quicktimes.I had my floppies in yellow, red, blue neatly labelled and I even set up a database to "file" them.
Not bad, not bad at all. You presented this very wel. I enjoyed watching it, looking forward to more videos from you. I am just getting started with with creating video content and it is not as easy as it looks... well... its not as easy as YOU make it look. Nice work.
I used to have the Utopia startup and shutdown sound in Windows ME! Brings back memories! Windows ME is not as bad as people said, it was quite fast, and we didn't have much problems with it. We just got the BSOD a few times, but we didn't mind!
Does anyone remember a tropical theme? It would play some nice music, then say "Welcome", and keep playing the music. The backround would be a deserted island.
I'm not sure if it was a real theme or not though, but I really want it.
@andretatontos, There was a "expansion pack" for 95, 98, ME and i believe 2000, called Microsoft PLUS! It has more Windows themes, including the look of Windows, a screensaver, sounds icons and fonts. It was pretty cool. There was after that a new PLUS! pack for XP, which is in this video too.
I haven't started using Windows 98 since I was 19 years old back in the year 1998 a year later I was so mature learning how to communicate through the Online Network Connections
I wonder if you could setup any one of these to play as the startup/logon/shutdown/logoff sound for Windows 7? I sure would like to turn on my computer and have the 95/98/NT startup themes to play.
@elijahgoforth1 XP is one of the best Microsoft operating systems in my opinion, my laptop came with Windows 7 and I wiped it and installed XP on it, and I'm using it right now. :P
If I could install Windows 2000 on it and keep all of the drivers working, I would.
It is actually the same as XP, the first reason being that it is meant to be the "Server" counterpart of XP and shares the same architecture core as XP, the second reason being that it was released about the same time as XP, and the third and main reason being that I am using it on my other computer(this one I am using to reply you is a XP one).
@rockmanzerozerozero i think u are talking about the us one... just look at my video (extended - windows sounds) to cheak there is a windows server 2003 uk edition
@getdealtwithquick That ''Dolby'' button didn't exist 15 years ago... What I'm trying to say is that it's not just the startup sound which has such a bad quality. Windows 95 itself has a bad sound quality too. You can even put a normal MP3 song into it and you'll see that the quality will be the same 'crappy' one. Anyways, I think Eno has done a heck of a great job cause it was one of the best sounds in the history of Windows. It's just my opinion though :)
1:22--was that the old Windows 98 shutdown sound? I haven't heard that in YEARS! I know we have much better Windows software these days but I miss the old Windows 98 because it reminds me of being at my grandparents house in the late 90s when they first got Internet. And the Windows 95 sounds remind me of when I was 7 and being obsessed with my aunt's new computer because she was the first one in the family with one! We got our first in summer 1999.
