  • I really don't get the point of all these "Videos" that are just some persons choice of music and still pictures. If thats what I wanted to do I can play my own music and go to google image search haha.

  • To all you Earl lovers, he was awesome for a little while and then he was gone. He's back in the pack, he doesn't even get in the shadow of Jimmy Brown or Barry Sanders. He came in strong, and sadly hobbled out. Maybe, One year he averaged 5.2 yds/carry, Brown averaged that for 9 years. I think Earl should be in the hall. But smart guys like me know the real deal. P.S. Curtis Martin is one of the most underrated RBs in football, Campbell can't touch him.

  • tennessee titans awsome fuck all others fuck the useless jags

  • I admit, never seen Brown run outside highlights.

    1- Sanders

    2- Payton

    3- Earl

    4- Brown

    5- Sayers

  • lol multimillon doesnt know anything!!! Its your impact on the game that counts more then stats. Everyone knew Earl was gonna get the ball yet they still could not stop him. He was greater in his era then any back of that time. During his 4 year reign even Payton took a back seat to Campbell ask the players in the league and they will tell you. Dorsett is no where near as great as Earl. Stats dont mean everything!!!!

  • Some of You guys gotta look at the stats, some of you are really asleep, multimillionspent knows his stuff. Curtis Martin's got the numbers. And I'm a big time Riggins fan but he's just not there. OJ and Campbell aren't either.

  • @Gowavenger dude you cant just say look at stats any one who has ever playd foot ball weather it be high school or collage u have to balance stuff out u dont just look at stats, u my friend need to go back and do some football history work on these two men here Campbell and simpson they aint great and legends for nothing do ur home work then talk

  • @Gowavenger Go on and start your team with Curtis Martin and I'll start mine with Big Earl or O.J. -ANYTIME-

YOU MUST BE OUTCHYO MIND!!! Curtis Martin was a very good back, and badly underrated, but he's not even in the TOP 20... For Real?!?!?

  • 0- Brown 1- Sanders 2- Payton 3- Dickerson 4- OJ 5- Earl 6- Emmitt 7- LT 8- Faulk 9- Edge, Martin, Barber, Sayers....not sure (Dorsett fumbled as many times as he scored, otherwise he might be 10th)
  • i like that list besides Faulk got injured and retired LT just fell off, BAD

  • I like your hot music, what is that? #1 Jimmy Brown @ 5.2 yds/carry (no one's near that), E Smith, Payton, Sanders, Curtis Martin are first 5, next 5 would be tighter; Bettis, Dickerson, Dorsett, M Faulk, Marcus Allen. Franco Harris would be close to the top 10 (I'm not a Steeler fan, but you gotta look at 4 Super Bowl wins).

  • @Gowavenger

I'm not sure what the music is, sorry.

  • 1. payton

    2.sanders

    3.brown

    4.dickerson

    5.dorsett

  • Dorsett was awesome, but he has 90 fumbles to go with his 90 TDs...so I wouldn't rank him in the top 10.

  • 1-jim brown

    2-walter payton

    3-earl cambell

    4-barry sanders

    5-emmit smith

    6-erick dickerson

    7-bo jackson

    8-terrell davis

    9-marshall faulk

10-tony dorsett thats wat i think for the first five but the other five i dont know

  • Larry Csonka

    John Riggins

  • Jim Taylor

    Steve Van Buren

    Marion Motley

Dave Smith (The Ripper from Ripon)

    Paul Lowe

    Jack Spikes

    Pete Banazsak

    Mike Garrett

    Keith Lincoln

  • Jetstream Smith

  • ur forgetting bronco nagurski or howerver the fuck you spell his name

  • no curtis martin?

  • Another thing about Earl....he played for the moment.

  • wats the song called

  • totall monster.....

  • Earl Campbell was a beast!

He ran around, under, over and through any guy who got in his way.

    He was pure football.

Hall of Fame man both on and off the field.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • dats my fam right der swear runns in the family

  • hell yeah the Tyler Rose....Earl Campbell.....what a hoss he was

  • Next time show some video highlights...if I wanted to see pictures I would have opened up a magazine!

  • Ted, the description warned ya..."Just a few pictures" I wouldn't know how to add video and besides, at the time I posted this, YouTube was really pushy on deleting NFL footage. (They don't seem as strict compared to 2007 surprisingly, which is great)

  • @tedperez You can make your own video....I love people that bitch about somethin they didn't pay for and no one forced them to watch.

  • if you ask the coaches or the fans of the 70's who was the best back of the decade, there would be different oppinions. But if you ask the players who was the best back, every single one of them would say that it was Earl Campbell. Oh look, LT just burned you; so what? earl killed you. Coaches and fans care more about a back burning your team because it means you lose. The players had nightmares with earl.

  • i have a football sighned by him!!!

  • Very cool. :)

  • I am a Steelers fan from the 1972 season. Had it not been for the dominant Steelers, then the Oilers and Raiders would have been won more. Nevertheless, I consider Earl Campbell to be one of the greatest backs in the NFL, bar none. He played with a lot of heart and reckless abandon (to his health). Of course he was damn good too. While Franco Harris was a bruising back, Campbell was superior. Steeler fans, please show some grace and laud the competition, especially the great Earl Campbell.

  • that guy is so tough he wears a lineman facemask

  • Back then a lot of running backs and even some defensive backs wore those types of facemasks, now you really don't see those anymore sadly. Well, not that exact style of mask anyways. A shame.

  • I'm a Steeler's fan and I'm ashmaed of fans like him.. let me tell you what

Earl was the Bomb, Mean Joe once said Tackling Earl was like getting hit by a Truck. Earl Campbell, Bum Phillips and the Oilers MADE the Steelers of the '70s Harder, thanks to Competition like that during the season the Superbowls were anticlimatic.. Steelers vs Oilers were the Highlight games for me every year!

  • steelerfan, you must be the idiot earl was and is a legend. Franco was a great back but not on earls level. The Steelers were a better overall team in fact i think the greatest team, but give Earl credit. The Steelers defense was full of hall of famers and they had to stack the defensive line just to stop him cuz the oilers had a mediocre passing game at best. If Franco was in the Oilers backfield he would have just been a good back.

  • i remember when earl campbell played for the oilers. he was the oiler offense. and a defense that was surpassed only by the steel curtain of the steelers. if only the oilers had a grade A passing game like the steelers did then maybe....ah what might have been. but even though i was a die hard oiler fan in those days (along with the saints..but not the cowboys) my respect and admiration to the steelers. they were the team of the 70's and became so over some very tough competition.

  • im a Steelers fan ha we were the team of the 70s houston won 2 division titles in total in AFC Central

  • im a Steelers fan so i hate him and the oilers

  • BELIEVE me when i SAY the feeling is mutual... I hate Bill COWARD and his stiff lip .. I hate everything about the Steelers..Man I do miss the old AFC Central and the Rivalries.. Todays NFL product does nothing for me anymore since the Oilers left..atleast we got the BEST college football in the nation down here in Texas and noone can take that away..

  • typical Steeler arrogance, no different than a Raider fan... you see, if you learned to appreciate and respect your adversaries, than your accomplishments would be more meaningful...

  • so u telling me campbell better than Franco Harris if u r then u stupid

  • hey, meat head, did I say Campbell was better than Harris? if you're gonna quote me, quote me correctly... and you obviously didn't get my point... you see, by dogging the competition, you're inadvertently undermining your teams accomplishments... think about it, what sounds better? that other team sucks and we beat them? or, damn that's a quality team and we beat them? I'm probably asking too much from a meat head like yourself, but think about it anyway... good luck...

  • Steelers were a better quality team

  • you usually have to put "are" in front of u stupid, stupid

  • He was the BESTUS out of TEXAS.

  • that guy wasent a beast

    he was a monster

  • but nobody ever told earl he could go around people. he was a stud, but gosh, look at him now. i feel sorry for the guy now.

  • oh yeah ... and did i mention when out in the open he had the speed of most corner backs to go along with the power of a bull rhino... the man was UNREAL... he does not get nearly enough respect from the national media.. what a shame..

  • alot of"experts" that never played the game at any level claim Jim Brown was the best or John Riggins ... Jack Tatum former Raiders" "EPIC HEAD HUNTER" claims w/o a doubt Earl Campbell was the most punishing power running back of all-time in his book..

  • Gosh I was a big fan of the then OILERS, only

because of Earl, he was like a train, could not be stopped.

  • i have his jersrey

  • I think its sort of sad because the people I like (power runners) end their career short cus of the beating that they take (Campbell-8 yrs Brown-9 yrs) while Elusive backs have longer career (Sanders-10 Smith-15)

  • ya but Brown still had years in him he just wanted to go into acting..but ya its sad bc Campbell was amazing

  • thats a good point... and sanders could have played much longer if he didn't retire early so he wouldn't pass Waletr Paytons record Im a fan of power backs too GO JAMAL LEWIS!

  • He was a monster! He wreaked havoc on all defenses, especially the 1 run against the rams where he head butts the linebacker in the chest. 1 of the greatest runs, and show of power ever.

  • That hit was good, but the best runningback display of power ever is when he was in college and ran into the guy at the five yard line, five yards later the guy was on his back in the middle of the endzone and earl was walking back the sideline like it was no big deal.

  • yea i seen that that was ridiculous it looked like he got hit by a truck

  • Earl Campbell was the greatest power back of all time. He could not be tackled from the waist down.

  • He simply was Superman! So feared by defenses they changed their game plans when they lined up against the Oilers and still could not stop him. Wow what a role model to boot. Best back and best man!

  • two teams one great career

  • One of the greatest running backs...

    Go Earl! Go!

  • Barry sanders was the best because he never had an O Line, every highlights you see of him theres like 4-5 guys in the backfield allready.

  • if you think EARL had an o-line or anything else around him other than a couple of decent recievers you're mistaken..although you're somewhat right barry is second to noone..but earl had it all man ....in quantity..speed and POWER..and was as shifty a runner as anyone..but when forced to hit ...he could bring it like noone else

  • too bad his career was so short but i quess when you run like this it can only be short. dude was still a beast!!! it's said he can barely walk now!!!

  • i still say the walter payton is the best running back so far.

  • well take your thoughts however wrong they may be to a walter payton video

  • Walter Payton was probably the best all-around player, he could run, he could catch, he even started at quarterback a few times. The best pure running back was probably Jim Brown.

  • what do u mean when u say pure runningback

  • Meaning that he was best at running with the ball, not so much with blocking and catching.

"do you ask Liberace to carry his piano." - on why Jim Brown refused to block for the Browns.

  • I had the honor to play against Earl in college and in the NFL and let me tell you he was the hardest runner EVER in the NFL Film does no justice to the on field fiery this great man played wit. much respect to the Tyler Rose

  • i would compare marion barber to this beast. as they both have the same trucking style. but,i would have to give it to campbel. he was a legion. and im a cowboys fan. go cowboys 2008.

  • i couldnt have laughed more hard that when i read that smith is the best? my god hes a joke and yeah this is comin from a guy who purely hates the man ill admit it and im prob takin it too far he is a fag, he was garbage when he played and he is a piece of shit person the man made people pay before he would give autographs. i gotta say payton was the best just as a personal pref, earl and him were the same hight but he was 30 lbs lighter and still ran just as hard, did not have his muscle though

  • Earl was a beast

  • hehe i like Earl cause he moves people out of his way hes like a truck! lol Earl Campbell is amazing!!!

  • all of u are fags. quit having conversations on youtube get a room. goobers

  • Wow, nobody is going to listen to anything you have to say when you say dumb shit, better check facts before you make such a revolutionary statement.

  • THE GREATEST OF ALL-TIME. hANDS dOWN

  • I beleive he is the only man to win mvp and rookie of the year could be wrong

  • yea probably. hes the only one who deserves it who plays in college right now.

  • joysub1

"man I think Tim Tebow could be only the 2nd person to win the heisman back to back like earl campbell"

Earl didn't win the heisman twice, though he did win it. Archie Griffin (Ohio State) is the one you're looking for.

Other than that, nice slideshow, too bad I'll remember Earl for college. HOOK 'EM!

  • the only reason archie griffin got the heismen is cuz he was white in a racist time period in the 60's, walter payton should have gotten the heismen he was twice as good an RB than archie griffin and everybody knows that

  • that is an excellent point, except fot the fact that archie griffin is an african-american.

  • oh, well i dont care about archie griffin so idk if hes black or not then, so i guess the REAL reason is that archie went to a large college (cant remember which 1) and walter payton went to a small college Jackson State

  • Archie Griffin went to Ohio State.

  • archie griffen won the hiesman not once

    but twice.

  • Archie Griffin is black bro

  • campbell came into the pros in 78. archie griffin was black

  • fukin beastass nigga shits ridiculis

  • Rookie of the Year and MVP, Pro Bowl and Offensive Player of the Year

*First 3 years in NFL, led the league in rushing

    *3rd year, 1934 yds, 5.2 yds/carry, carried the ball a then record 373 times

For three years he was the Oilers sole offensive weapon. They ran him into the ground and he was not alllowed the longevity of Payton or Smith or...

Those of us who saw him play (I,from the sidelines) know that his name deserves to be in any conversation of the all time best.

  • Seconded.

  • Not the greatest career of all time, but in his prime, possibly the most dominant running back of all time...........and a good guy.

  • Earl by far was the most entertanining of any runnign back to watch. When he was at the peak of his game no other RB was more feared by the opposing defense. He was pure power! True he did not have the finesse of some of the running backs that have been mentioned but none of them can compete with his pure explossiveness and strength out of the gate! He does not have the numbers in total yards that some others have had but none the less there is s very good reason why he is the legend that he is.

  • everything u said was true aside from "...most entertaining of any running back to watch." its got 2 b barry sanders, just making a joke out of the defense. i think that elusive, finesse running is more entertaining.

  • There was something very special about Earl. DB's worst nightmare.

  • Walter Payton best running back ever! Then Barry Sanders then Emmitt Smith... and btw. Havent u noticed that all running backs are black? lol u cant thumb me down or say somthin stupid but in the end almost 98% of running bakcs are black.

  • one of the best runnin backsof all-time

    no question bout' it

  • i agree emmit smith is the best of all time holds the record that no one has beated and barry sanders is or was not a resemblence of walter payton

  • Umm..I can easily say Campbell was not the greatest runningback of all time. He can't compare with Dorsett, or Waltor"Sweetness"Payton. Emmitt is the greatest runningback of all time. No one has yet to break his record.

  • Emmitt? Emmitt Smith? Uh no. Just becaus he holds the rushing record doesn't mean he's the best running back of all time. Give me Jim Brown any day.

  • Ummm, Emmitt the best? I have to respectively disagree with you. There are many better than Emmitt. Walter Payton, Jim Brown, Gale Sayers, the list goes on. Don't get me wrong, Emmitt is good and can be in the top 10 greatest, but he is not the top even with the record. Barry could have had it, Brown could have set it even higher. If Payton had Emmitts line the # would be even higher. And please Dorsett better than Earl the pearl, no way. Dorsett in top 25 or 25th of all time.

  • DORSETT!?! Better than Campbell...what are you smokin dude??

  • i agree. campbell was a beast and to bad he didnt get to play a long career. if you look at him now he has to stay in a wheel chair b.c of his back... he only played like 9 season i think, but he also had some kind of back problem to begin with that he never knew about untill later in life,, he is still the man

  • I may be a Cowboys fan. But good lord, Not even the mighty cowboys could stop this Steam-roller. It was so awesome to watch him play. He would look for people to hit rather then avoid them. You can't stop this machine!

  • Powerful running back. The only team he could not really dominate was the steel curtain of the pittsburgh steelers. He still got his yards, but with a low yards per carry average. Campbell could take some serious punishment. It was a pleasure watching him play.

  • houston oilers were a cold team

  • yeah. its a shame they never won a superbowl, but they were damn good.

  • payton the best allround back, but earl best pure runner. I heard larry johnson refer to his style like Earls and just had to laugh. If somebody today ran like earl, the media hype would be like tiger or jordan. he ran with more authority then ray or merriman tackle with. Earl ran the ball like mingus played music; carrying the weight of the poor, underprivilegded and minority on his back.

  • And the award for guy on youtube who takes himself far too seriously goes to.... the douche below me. watchu know about barry sanders

  • love barry and an agrument he was best runner is very much alive within circles of us football douches. not that you would have a seriuos opinion, that would require you reading a book or two. enjoy your brittey, justin and other bubble gum pop. and make sure you vote, your's is the vote their hoping for.

  • God i hate you youtube pseudo-llectuals that go around flaunting your damn opinions like your reaching through your computer screen with the divinely-ordained hand of reason and setting straight all of dumb, misinformed proles who were lucky enough to even stumble upon a computer. You are making comments on a video of earl Campbell, not taking part in some incredible open-forum where everyone is dying to hear just how many vocab words you can string together in your little paragraph.

  • So i think the entire youtube community would greatly benefit from you shutting your damn yap. Oh and in other news, they just discovered the mark of true intelligence: extrapolating other peoples' music choices and political views from their comments and insulting them. And for the record, I litsen to quality hip hop and i am going to vote for obama

  • Great comment.

  • Would have been awesome if Earl Campbell's career had been during the Warren Moon years with Houston, could ya imagine

  • the stats show he is the greatest of all time he only played 7yrs and i believe is in the top 5 rushers of all time imagine if he played 15yrs..nobody would compare 2 him.

  • gay song but great vid and 1 of my fav HB of all time

  • Without a doubt the most powerful running back ever

  • i agree

  • Greatest running back of all time in my book.

  • Are you from Texas? Probably not #1 but maybe #3 or #4 after Walter, Barry, and maybe Jim.
