That's very close to a foxtrot and I wold say that it is. See how the opposite back hoof strikes shortly after the the front hits? It might be just a tad too much time but this is a foxtrot of old.
@discusman71 you're not the first person to say that. and i see what you're talking about with the opposite hitting just after the front. i've been trying to find videos of what an "old time foxtrot" really is, but everything i find seems to be something different lol! i took this mare to the chiropractor this week and he was able to adjust her shoulders, which were really stiff. maybe when i can get back on her she'll be "walking in the front" a little more. we'll see!

Nice horse! At the first of the video your mare is moving between a flat walk and a stepping pace. When you bumped her up in speed she went into a version of a Rack... in the mountain horse world I believe they call it a pacey rack. The two lateral hoofs come off the ground at about the same time but because of the animation in the front legs you get an even four "beat" foot fall. A great gait to trail ride with. I would not try to make her a show horse, She is naturally to lateral to foxtrot.
First of all, no gait is wrong. If you and your horse agree that you like it, that's all that counts. Never let anyone make you feel like your horse isn't "good enough" if it doesn't like doing the breed preferred gait. You guys look great together. A good investment for any gaited rider is a book called "Easy-Gaited Horses" by Lee Ziegler. She has a great way of explaining what to look for on a moving horse to identify gait. She will also teach you ways to encourage your horse gait differently.
@2bTransformed thanks for the kind words :) i have decided that tiff and i are totally happy saddle racking , which is what i and the people on my gaited message board have decided she's doing. i do have lee's book, which helped me reach that conclusion. it is an excellent book

looks as though she is trying to running walk on the last of your video.
