oh... great... someone learned how to sand and vasnish wood... the commendable act here is by no means the phisical object, but the ability to sell it to hotels and resorts (making money)
being "ugly" or not is absolutely subjective in this case.
You seem to have absolutely no idea about the wood, its qualities and the problems to carve it. This was half a year's work, no varnish used btw and two third of weight of the original root and therefore of its shape removed. It hasn't much to do with the original root anymore. To preserve all 12 or more different positions it can be placed in you have to be very concessive concerning the shape. But anyway, everybody is entitled to his opinion...
Hi. It's not supposed to be a dragon at all, actually it's not supposed to be anything, but in a way it reminded me of a LEAFY DRAGON FISH during carving and that is why the 'head' became a bit figurative. Hope that helps to understand the name..
Wonderful work Dino :) I did this sort of thing for years. Seeing the quality of your work inspires me to do more. It`s hard isn`t it, that you rarely get the credit you deserve because people can`t see how much time and work you`ve had to put in to the finished piece? Bri
Great work. It is so full of motion and posture, graceful, complexe and manipulated but flowing. abstract and natural at the same time. You have a great talent. Shine on
Unfortunately I did not take any pictures of the original root/stem. But if you take alook at my other vid you can see what it might have looked like in the beginning, it is made of the same material...
yep, very nice work. I second what huasoloco had said. really enjoyed the video. I like your use but especially the manipulation of the pre-exisiting shapes of the work piece. nice finish to top it off.
This is awesome work! I want to tell you firsthand as an artist that works with alligator juniper, that this is top quality,and I enjoyed the pictures. What kind of juniper is that? Well great work I know how much work and and sanding it takes to get that look in the wood. I am sure you love what you do or you wouldn't take the time.
Thank you very much for your comment. Although quite a few people have had a look at this meanwhile, nobody really seems to see what it took. So it feels good to read this! :) As mentioned it's Phenician Juniper...Is there a way to see your work? Feel free to contact me via my HP,
@MackieHill
Me too! I have used that program for most
of the cabinetry in our home. I have always
rely on my design to that program since it
gave me complete instructions without
missing one. It was really helpful. Anyway,
I think you misspelled the site name,
Here's the correct site name:
