To be honest I dont like my bloody valentine. Its too messy. If they were a bit clearer i would probably like them. But this sounds like Chewie is dying. XD
@DeathToNeonCasket Yeah, I know what you mean. Shoegaze would b lot better if you could distinguish vocals from the music and understand what they are actually saying, but I still dig this song and MBV, I just don't think it's as good of an album as the dude with the top comment talking about Nevermind, but to each his own.
@righteousrat that's kind of one of the distinguishing features of Shoegaze, the voice is just another element an instrument, no more important that any other... otherwise you'd have yourself a prog-rock band wouldn't you lol :)
@playaeyez17 No way man, definitely TP. That distortion has a definite "twilight" sound. Anyway, I've played through all the Zelda games on consoles since LttP multiple times and they are all AWESOME!
MBV was the best hands down If you know shoegaze most likely you've investigated & will agree or present a strong argument hopefully. Slowdive's "Souvlaki" album was the very Second BEST SHOEGAZE ALBUM It still could barely nipp at the heels of "Loveless" but.. what can!? lol. I love this era, style & this genre.. forget labels this is good music=has SOUL..nesting you STRONG in your 90's memories & better days..manufactured crap never molds for days but good food molds If not ate fresh you know!
@playaeyez17 Loveless takes it all, then imho goes Chrome by Catherine Wheel, Whirlpool by Chapterhouse, Souvlaki by Slowdive, Delaware by Drop Nineteens, Silver by Starflyer 59, Doppelganger by Curve, Nowhere by Ride, and Im not considering neither Siamese Dream nor Pisces Iscariot as sheogazing records...
@dimarziotonezone23 good choices those are all great... and yeah Siamese Dream Is not shoegaze or any of the last ones, Billy Corgan was just seriously Influnced by MBV so much he tried... but adding a thousand diff chopped feedback distortion effects.. Isn't why MBV made the record they did or how they did It. It's beautifull how such a masterstroke It was,It couldn't be duplicated...Brian Eno had to help slowdive out on "Souvlaki Space Station" and still failed to duplicate It (brilliant tho!)
@playaeyez17 Yeah I know BC was greatly influenced by MBV, anyways, I consider Siamese Dream a masterpiece haha... First time I heard Souvlaki Space Station I was overwhelmed by the feeling it gave me... there are 2 other shoegaze bands, I think Starflyer 59 and another one, that has a song that includes "Space Station" in its name... a shoegaze complot? Haha
Anyone who likes this I advise checking out Slowdives Slouvaki (the second best shoegaze alabum ever made It's NOT ride's "nowhere" thats for sure imo, It's good but not second) And kinda offbeat choice here but hidden gem The Verve's"A Storm In Heaven" which is far betetr than Urban Hymns (Lets face It that albums only a classic based soely on the masterpeice song "Bittersweet Symphony". The only instrumental I can think of good as this would be Air "La Femme De Argent",best ever maybe, LISTEN!
@playaeyez17 Souvlaki is an amazing record. Nowhere, Loveless, and Souvlaki, in my opinion, were the three best shoegaze albums (no particular order). What an underrated era
@weezadam agreed, so underrated. But you did see shoegaze really make a new type of comeback In some artists this decade... the Influence Is clear... but also unlike other cycles and comeback sounds... It's just not the same... nobody now who sounds "shoegaze" Is even half as good as the late 80's-mid 90's shoegaze groups before It died. I just want kevin shields to release his follow up already!. The albums stature Is well enough known now where It's not a risk. Nobody expects another Loveless
@AnimeGuy9 Ironically the very name of this album was in Final Fantasy's most popular entry= in the opening of the groundbreaking Final Fantasy 7 as It zooms into the intro night Midgar city & Arieth walks out the alley , about to cross the street, It says CLEAR AS DAY "My Bloody Vlentine LOVELESS" on the corner building... now is that a coincidence? or just a masterpeice of a masterpeice inside whats widely regarded as the greatest 90's rpg game (or maybe of all games still) ever made?! lol..
Actually, one time at the university of Oklahoma, three guys gave an elephant 297 mg of LSD by injecting it. They wanted to see if it would induce "musth," a naturally occurring state where elephants get violent and uncontrollable. Instead, the elephant died. 13 mg of LSD orally is the lethal dose for most humans.
@EMKTTHL ;Yeah, when you think about it, it's actually pretty cruel. Seriously, WHY would anyone give an elephant LSD? What is the use? Especially if there's a chance that the poor animal can die. I heard that the second experiment succeeded but the elephants just sat around and made funny noises. So what does that prove? That elephants can get high too? Did an elephant have to die for us to know that fact? We're fucking our mother nature in the ass and one day she'll let us pay, mark my words.
Greatest album of It's genre EVER. This was just as revolutionary as Nevermind (Nirvana) they both came out mere months apart in 1991, yet this is obviously TIMELESS and sounds pristine!... It never ages... and ever single song including the interlude, the name of the album hell even the abstract cover art... simply titled "Loveless" fits perfectly!. This album is so serious It really is near tangible- digital intimacy being imitated on a record!. Landmark/Masterpeice!
I know what you mean, I have always been a little on edge with this tune. It has a nightmarish sound to it. When I am in the middle of nowhere driving at night, I always skip this tune. XD
this is strangely nice to listen too.
