this is so biased they might as well wear a sign with "obama" on their suits while they give the newscast. Obama has NO idea about how the real health care system works and doctors DO have to order unnecessary tests every day to protect themselves from frivolous lawsuits that jack up rates for every american. This newscast is BS. Anyone involved the REAL health care system knows this.
The tort deform argument is a canard with few numbers to support it. People who oppose a public option are either monopolist cynics, industry cheerleaders or completely clueless. The status quo is broke &, clearly, not the way to go. Real reform will not leave 45+ million uninsured Americans.
Malpractice insurance IS NOT the problem. Doctors complain on and on and on about malpractice insurance, and they use absolute numbers to say how much they pay. However, the question that must be asked to them, is how much do they pay in malpractice insurance as a % of their revenues. You will find that on the average Doctors don't pay more for malpractice insurance than businesses pay for liability insurance.

Try telling that to a doctor who pays insurance. Its not the only answer, but its part of it. Without it, there can be no real reform.
