I looked up the most recent definition of PARADOX in Webster's Dictionary and found TODD. He was all you loved about him, still love, nothing you expected and exactly what you expected. You want LSD psychedelic prog rock? INTRO/MR. TRISCUITS, ANOTHER LIFE, THE SEVEN RAYS. Gentle pure "its okay to cry" THE LAST RIDE, CAN WE STILL BE FRIENDS ETC. Craziness, Goofiness, every NESS? BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! "And there's always more" Go ahead, guess what song that line's from.
Beginning to wonder if I'm beginning to lose it a little. Like maybe things are getting to me more than they should. This song is one of those that always hits me hard. Thanks for posting.
We've all been here. A bring-me-down, bruisin' tune. A sad truth about a break-up. A great amalgam of Jazz/Blues if there ever was one! The Nazz was great too.
A genius. Saw him in Germany in the 70's of last century. What on earth is wrong with this world nowadays that only some 7000 plus people listened to this timeless music. Todd, you deserve so much more!
Thank you so VERY much for putting this whole Todd CD up here on YouTube. I used to have this on vinyl, but had to sell my albums and turntable a few years back and have, sadly, never replaced this. Such wonderful songs. Again, you are made of AWESOME! Thanks! :)
When the double LP "Todd" came out, a fellow dorm resident brought his new copy up to the room and we searched to see if his name was one of many that was printed (in small font) on both sides of the each LP sleeve. His was !!
Can't get any better than this TODD. I loved ya in 1969, I'm a 4-ever fan of you buddy. I just saw you @ Count Basie Theatre. GREAT, FANTASTIC marvelous showmanship dude!!
@shrew972 I'm a typing fool, one superlative won't do. I followed Todd all through high school, went off him here and there, and like so many of us, have come back home to Todd and his Alice In Wonderland set to music. He's such a New Yorker, and I'm glad he's still true to his roots. Bearsville records should be credited for carrying an artist most record companies would have dropped c'os he does anything he wants, whenever he wants, He's doing it right this minute.
@ubelieveinme2oo - The amazing thing is, it takes me back there too, and I wasn't even born then. All it takes is to KNOW ABOUT these things for a song like this to have such an effect. It is that evocative of the social environment that gave birth to it. to listen to music like this is to feel the synapses of another person's brain being transplanted into yours across time and space and without leaving a physical artifact. The next time someone asks why you say music is "magic", tell them this.
Thanks for getting me through my teenage years! I'm now 55 years old!
And I still dig ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!
