  • lol she's tight

  • This is the nerdiest thing I have ever seen... hats off

  • he should have attached the grounding strap to the mac pro instead of the mic

  • @rgregoryoa aw it was the keyboard

  • I hate when people do these videos, there's so many of them and it's so easy to do that no one is going to need instructions.

  • @aflockofmusic2 right

  • what do you think he's using his mac pro for?

  • @Tucomen porn

  • @professionalrax i guess it's their way to keep people from knowing so they don't buy the hardware else where. anyways have fun with your mac pro. :D

  • @professionalrax should say on Apple's website. just go to the online store, select mac pro, click on select on the first two and it'll give you a list of what you can put in it.

  • Oh god, I wish I could build something this pretty inside.

I suck at cable management, I don't even want to look inside my current build, it's horrible.

  • hehe mic fail

  • can you put any hard drive into a mac pro

  • yes, as long as it's sata 3.0

  • "There's no way you could screw this up" I accept that challenge Chris.

  • @braddudeguy I wish you good luck.

  • The Acer Aspire desktop series.. If you ever open one of those, you'll be amazed over how untidy it is inside.. Never purchase an Acer Aspire if you are planning on having a computer that will last.. You'll never be able to upgrade it. Never ever.. There are cables everywhere...

  • My old computer was am Acer Aspire. I no longer use it as I built my own, but I have to say my Acer Aspire was very neat inside. Probably the best I have seen from a big Manufacture.

  • It took me and my friend about 3 hours to install 2 sticks of RAM in my Aspire M3100. And another hour to install a 320 GB hard drive... We almost destroyed the DVD-drive in the process...

  • I really want a mac pro... right now im stuck with a 20 inch imac.... that has the minimal stuff..... mac pro is my dream for the near future...

  • Me too! and i really want like 3 24" monitors!

  • @AaronBalitskyz Wait till 2010, I'm hearing some CRAZY things about the Next Mac Pro! I mean WOW! It's gonna be crazy! Can't wait! I have a 3.2Ghz Quad Mac Pro Maxed Out and I'm waiting for the next generation to come out to upgrade. It's gonna be INSANE! USB 3.0, 16 Cores, 128 Threads, 128GB of RAM, eSATA, SATA III Interface, I mean, it's gonna be a HIUUUUUUUUGE Upgrade!

To be more clear, remember the Dual 2.0Ghz G5 with an UNHEARD of 8GB RAM? SAME thing is happening with the Next Mac Pro!

  • funny video.. so funny when the sound stops :P and I don't really think you need to be grounded to perform this

  • NO! you really need to be grounded... Do you even know how harddrive work?

  • Oh really? But I perform that installation just after seeing this video without being grounded and it haven't done anything wrong.. can you tell me more about those risks? btw it was so easy! :P

  • to install a hard drive in my computer i have a little door that reveals two empty hard rive bays soy i do the same thing you do

    \

  • but yours requires hooking up cables, the macpro does not.

  • Excellent video, really helps a lot because it shows how to install a hard drive in an Apple Mac Pro.Guys i heard that Apple is now in India and they are giving really great offers to University students,Check for yourself. 1800-425-4646 and I am looking forward to buying one very soon.

  • pop pop pop pop!! lol

  • You don't know how many computers i've worked on without static protection. They've all survived, I know it for a fact.

  • The risk is always there, though. If you're handling an electric component potentially worth thousands of dollars you don't want to mess it up because you were too stubborn not to wear a wrist strap.

  • me to all i have to do is touch the pc case about every 60 seconds

  • lol he knows more about software than hardware eh? he didn't even attach that wrist strap to his computer! that could have killed it.

  • dopey bastard

  • all he really has to do is touch the metal case on the inside, then he's grouded

  • they put the sata drives over there so you can eventually connect a blu ray disc drive, or so you can currently connect an optical sata drive.

  • Dust ftw :)

  • are those anti static straps really necessary?

  • not necessary, but better to be safe than sorry.

  • i never use em, use em at school but not at home. just touch a metal bit inside your case and youll be fine.

  • It's good if you want sponsors.

  • IT is about 100000X times easier on a Dell. LOL Unlock the hatch that holds the case like the mac pro then slide the new hard drive in your second slot or pull out current one and pull out of bracket put new hard drive in and then push back in. Plug in and boom Done!

  • O M G how does installing a HD in a mac pro take 9 min?

  • hes talking to us as well

    and explaining what hes seing

  • compressed air. he explains it.

there was dust in the case so he sprayed air into the case to get the dust out :D

  • This guy is Awesome.

  • what is a static guard?

  • Basically it just grounds you, so that any static electricity built up in your body isn't transferred to the computer.

  • they had to put esata somewhere didnt they???

  • mine sata connection are between my pci slots

  • I hate you for having that beautiful computer. But with that much equipment, and the fact that you run a 24/7 web stream, what is your electricity bill like?

  • @xredsandx better yet what job does he have

  • @xredsandx He told me once. It was like $220 bucks. I asked him in an e-mail.

  • i got a external hard dive

  • How to Waste 8 minutes watching someone NOT install a hard drive. dont they have some sort of what is that ..... editing software on them there apple machines ?

  • epic mic fail! rofl!

  • Who actually cares? Don't hate on Apple and judge Chris as a "f-ing" Apple fanboy. :D

  • "the norm" just because every other lazy twat online does it and why should they be any different hey I mean you got to admit that this example of text minus punctuation was annoying to read huh well guess what morons so is yours please do us a favour and keep off the net for 3 months whilst you consult your local English teacher and memories of high school for enlightenment in not fucking up the English language

  • people on the internet seem to have lost the ability to punctuate which makes all their already boring and inane comments even more unreadable and/or uninteresting due to the fact that formatting and punctuation/grammar is almost entirely missing which creates a nightmare scenario for other people who try to read their drivel because they seem to forget that typing like this as I am doing here is...

  • is a ata drive the same as a sata drive

  • ATA uses a ribbon cable which connect to pins on the hard drive, wheras a SATA uses a much smaller cable, with no pins to bend.

  • Please, everyone knows this stuff. I've done this at least 6 times. I could do pretty much anyting with a PC. RAM, no problem. I can even overclock it.

  • where do you get the ram for only 50 dollars because i looked on the apple website and it was like 200-300 dollars plz reply

  • never EVER get ram from the apple store!!!They are freaking expensive there, when in the same time you can find them on ebay for 50 bucks. You might wanna check a video that he made giving some tips on where to buy ram from for a mac ^^

  • macsales

  • WTF? why is this video 9 mins?? open the side, slide out the case, screw it to the drive, slide it back in, close the side panel.

That cherry oak clashes with your curtains.

  • wow, im sorry your attention span is too minimal for you to watch a NINE MINUTE VIDEO

  • who are you a gay guy from straight eye from the queer eye

  • come on chris why no 4 TB's

  • lawl. I don't think a Mac let alone a PC could handle that.

  • Not really. In fact, what you said didn't make any sense. You're trying too hard to bash Apple.

    It's called good engineering.

  • True, besides the Blackbird by HP is probably even easier then mac pro when it comes to installing hard drives or any other pieces of hardware.

  • lol, this is a little unserious, but i noticed a little joke xP when he was screwing. "You don't wanna SCREW this up" xD

  • sometimes=sometimes things

  • It's not poor backwards compatibility, it's called abandoning ancient technology, which is a good thing. Why would you want to use IDE nowadays anyway?

  • chis it,s funny I would do the same thing are you max out.I try to do that on a window base pc. what a head ache.I put max ram and it would not take it.from what I understand it give the memory away to addressing.you ever here of that? we got a mac now I am going to upgrade it a little.I like your channels.thanks chis.

  • Unlokia,

Do you think you could do any better? I've learned a lot from Chris, and while I went to your site, and checked out what videos you had, NOTHING helpful. I'll tell you what, Make some videos on what chris is doing, and then I'll start to watch and learn from you. Until then, watch and learn, which is probably non extinct for you. Anyways, Peace! I'm done!

  • this computer is awsome im thinking of buying a bare bones one and just updating it as i go along.

p.s one with all my "dream settings" cost over 20,000

did he get the graphics card with the

1.something gig of dedicated graphics memory?

  • i have the same problem, my dream mac pro cost 14,000 dollars. DAMN.

  • get barebones and buy the other stuff you need.

everything is cheaper if you buy it yourself and install it.

  • mac pro is nice but drive cages seriously that bad..you think? check out the cooler master cosmos..nice ATX case that i want.....its huge. I love the mac pro's ram system omg..i want a mac pro.

  • They shoulda used Samsung F1's

  • hitachi death star is more like it they last about a year if your lucky

  • thank u chris now im an expert at installing hard drives stupid chris this is not how to install hard drives

  • The mac pro has 3.2 ghrz processor in itstandard. Try findind a pc like that. The most i could find for a pc out of the box with out opening it yourself is 2.8. So if you run boot camp this is a strong gaming pc. And you can get the card that chris has in the video and youll be set for a while.

  • It's not the 3.2GHz that really matters, the thing that matters that it's OCTACORE. TWO quadcore 3.2GHz CPUs. This is what makes the Mac Pro stand out.

  • bingo. I had only heard of duo core computers let alone quad core but dual quad core. Then again before i got my laptop i had a dell with xp from 2001 with 256 mhrz on it. I know pathetic. My laptop has 1.66ghrz. Big improvment

  • "The mac pro has 3.2 ghrz processor in itstandard. "

2.8 ghz standard. Up to 3.2ghz as an option.

  • Sorry mis read the apple wbsite my bad :b

  • I agree, quality tools are a joy to work with and always a good investment. I also recommend a led light with a headstrap. When you´re working on the innards of your computer a lot of times you need both hands and some extra light. These led bulbs are super bright and batteries last forever.

  • wow, that looks like my pc,

except mine is user upgradeable in any way i want

  • You're so ignorant.

  • how so?

I don't think I could fit my current water system to this case or even a decent air cooler like the TRUE

head to xtremesystems to see that maybe you're ignorant towards hardware yourself

    I'd take a hakintosh anyday ;)

    why waste money?

  • johnaiton, you do realize there is no NEED for water cooling in the Mac Pro? The system is practically silent as it is. Like MikeIsMockage already said, don't be ignorant.

  • Macs CAN play games. The developers just see more business developing for the Windows market. And as a result, people buy more PCs. And as a result, the developers keep on releasing Windows-only games. If the developers would just port all their games over to OS X, the Mac market would grow.

  • FINALLY SOMEONE WHO KNOWS! macs DO play games and stuck up assholes dont listen and think they cant! arrghh

    thankyou

  • You're very welcome.

  • i saw this live

  • One * for the Traitor!!!!

  • Macs are still using screws when installing hard drives? Surprising considering Macs are supposedly so freaking innovative and leaps and bound ahead of the competition. Even more so when every major manufacturer of PC cases switched to "tool-less" designs about 5 years ago. And if Macs are so awesome, why isn't eSATA already installed?

  • they dont use screws to install. screws just attach it to the slide. it plugs in. I cant believe pcs still use cables on the hard drives. i dont know very many pcs with esata form OEM. your an ass speaker whos mad because chris finally got smart and went to mac. inside a pc looks like a homemade bomb

  • I couldn't care less what kind of computer he uses. I barely ever watch his videos any more, they've been getting shittier and shittier over the past few months. He used to offer tech solutions to common problems, now all he does is read other peoples top 5 lists (most of which are completely useless). Have fun with your Mac, with no games. And may god have mercy on your soul if you ever need to place a Mac's motherboard. "Homemade bomb"? What are you talking about? It's called cable management.

  • Macs CAN play games. The developers just see more business developing for the Windows market. And as a result, people buy more PCs. And as a result, the developers keep on releasing Windows-only games. If the developers would just port all their games over to OS X, the Mac market would grow.

  • he put an 8800 in without upgrading the power supply. watch it fry very soon.

  • What? are you kidding me? APPLE insyalled the 8800 dummy. You think apple offers a GPU in a machine that cnat handle it? look up the mac pro power supply. IT HUGE. your an ass speaker. come back in 6 months and watch it still be running. than you can be owned.

  • apple makes shit powersupplies, what a waste of a video card ,in an apple which can't play games.

  • You actually can with bootcamp. He can switch his operating system i.e. lepord to vista and play games. But he doesn't really play computer games.

  • yea so its a waste

  • but they don't because mac is gay. its the last stand alone pc company and will be put out of business very soon. Thats why they now use intel cpu's, they cant afford to compete anymore. And there desperately trying to sell anything to stay afloat. Thus explains that stupid mac air

  • Are you some kind of market share expert or an apple engineer? Were you recently informed of this business loss? Apple is doing better than ever and more and more people are switching. Saying "Macs are gay" only proves that you're a homophobic fascist and you have nothing intelligent to contribute to this video. I strongly encourage you to get your facts straight. If you don't like Macs then stop watching videos of Mac Pro's being upgraded.

  • 1. Macs own 8% of the OS market. Other operating systems combined own 1% of the market. I know this because I go to a number of sites every few weeks to check stocks and market shares.

    2. The Graphical User Interface of every OS was designed to make computing easier instead of typing at esoteric command prompts. And Apple's OS has been doing just that. Making life easier. And they're wrong for this?

    3. Macs retain resell value long after their initial release. Have you tried a Mac for 30 days?

  • 1. What do you mean "Get my facts right"? I'm the one that actually posted some facts.

    2. Macs are not slow. They make very good use of their hardware and are effecient. If Macs were as slow and junky as you say they are then why do people use them everyday?

    3. What Mac were you using? A brand new iMac or even a white C2D iMac runs fine with a couple gigs of RAM. The only way I see it taking forever is if it was an old Mac or if it was barely running the minimum requirements for the OS.

  • 1. god i don't have time to explain it to a four year old.

    2. people buy them because apple lies and bribes and tricks them into buying there junk.

    3. all macs do basic tasks slow, listening to music, making dumb movies, basic web browsing, and number 1 booting up and shutting down. god forbid i ever turn it off.

  • I'm done arguing with you. The above statements are only proof that you're just a shameful PC gamer who'd rather spend thousands on a computer so that they can play a $40 game on all high settings. Point number 3 only proves to me that you're either lying to me because you haven't said what Mac you own or you're just too retarded to upgrade the RAM. Do a couple tweaks and your Mac can boot in 15 seconds actually. Apple does not lie and trick anyone unlike Microsoft. I've had enough fun with you.

  • OS X is based on Unix you muppet. @ Fox

  • apple will not go out of business anytime soon. They have record sales with their ipod sales and music service. I might even buy a mac because of how much i hate microsoft. i want a new computer, but i don't want to downgrade from xp to vista. i will give osx a look.

  • record sales for themselves, now look at how many people buys pc's.

  • well i looked into buying a mac. the only one i am willing to pay for is the mini. i looked at vids on youtube of people taking apart the mini. it is basically non-serviceable. it doesn't use standard parts, and it is not easily disassembled or upgraded. for $600 i can get a very nice PC. I will probably upgrade my mobo and video cards in my pc.

  • Sometimes market share has to hit the road - market share doesn't necessarily denote a better product.

Have you seen BMW's market share?

  • hahah a down grade xp to vista.... nice!!!!

  • You really think they'd put a crappy low power PSU in a system with 8 3.2ghz cores and a board that's capable of running 32bg of ram? MacPro's are designed for high end workstations for massive amounts of number crunching like rendering 3D images/movies and high-definition content. They're basically super computers in a desktop. The power in them is insane and the OS it's all running on it tuned perfectly to take advantage of a good damn amount of that raw power. Try those specs with Windows.

  • yea windows has been doing all that at twice the speed for years. bout time those under powered pieces of junk caught up.

  • fox, i used to be just like you. I would post negative comments like yours. Look at apple, i am a gaming enthusiast with my own custom build computer. Macs are no slower than a PC. In fact the Mac pro will stomp on most PCs in performace. They are completely based on BSD Unix. You can run windows on them natively. They have identical hardware and architecture as a PC. Stop your uninformed whining. Get your facts first.

  • i dont want people to have a MAC, if they had a MAC i would be out of a job!

  • Haha, yup. I love using a Mac for personal use, but being a Windows admin by day is great job security.

  • why the fuck would anyone use 8800 on a mac...

  • why the fuck you want to use a 8800 in a PC?

  • an 8800 can be use for many things not just GAMING.

  • Games, maybe? I mean, there are hardly any decent video games on a mac.

  • ever heard of bootcamp? done, the intel basw Mac's are a universal computer we can run windows, linux, and of course os 10, if i can run windows on a Mac what's the difference if i bought a PC or a Mac? number one answer most PC say is price, BS where can you find an 8-Core PC with an 8800 for less than $3,000, Dell, Alienware, VooDoo etc... your paying over $5,000 for only a 4-Core computer that's ridiculous playing all that money to play a simple game that i can run on a MacBook Pro.

  • and further more checkout my favorites on my channel the gears of war video BFG's 768MB Nvidia GeForce 8800GTX in a MacPro, it can be done.

  • Your poor video card deserves a real computer. Macs do not deserve video cards.

  • If you've seen the 2 huge 30inch monitors he uses then getting a powerful video card makes perfect sense. The native resolution on those things is massive, rendering two of those at the same time requires more video power than you'd probably think.

  • a video card from 5 years ago can render large 2d screens.

  • My MacPro Shipped today and should receive it sometime this week, can't wait.

  • funny I've never used those grounding straps, and I just touch the computer's components without that much "precaution".

    I've never burned a computer before :D

  • I wonder how well that rig would handle current PC games under VM-Fusion?

  • I may have just gotten a MacBook Pro but I'm still saving up for one of these. =P

  • The XPS 720 and the Blackbird slide hard drives in the same way.

  • They stole it from Apple then, since it's been like this since 2005.

  • Now that is true. But he said that "not other computer does it" Still they Copied apple. I agree.

  • I believe he said that he had used, not no other computer..

  • so there

    ~~~~~~~~~~~chaoy (hey google)
  • i am SUPER jelious of you chris!!
    ~~~~Google

  • jealous*?

  • that's cool. Video froze up at first :p
