  • I bought my Catalina Club Jazz 5 years ago and it did not come with a bass drum lifter. :(

  • anyone know what's the finish on this kit?

  • Gretsch, Mapex, these are good

  • I love my NEW CLASSIC MAPLE!!!!!...

  • where do you get the bass drum riser? I couldn't find it any where in music stores.

  • lol you'd have to hit the reso head on the snare stand cradle pretty hard to put a hole in it haha... but a fair enough point

  • man i hate 4-piece kits

  • Is it just me, or i that Bass Drum tiny??!!

  • @jamiemow33 LIKE YO DICK! jk, it is a tiny bass drum.

  • @jamiemow33 Yeah it is a small bass in the Catalina Jazz kit. It's only a 14" x 18". But it's a jazz kit!

  • hahahaha 3:02

  • just got a catalina club rock kit in walnut glaze absolutley amazing 24 inch bass 2 floor toms and a 13 inch tom really pleased with it gretsch seen a great company

  • 5:50 face says : o rly?

  • I want his shirt.

  • woot i'm getting this kit

only £459 off of drum stop if u want to but one

  • "get to playing some drums... which is fun" lol

  • Excelent drums sets, GRETSCH Drums, Is the best brand to drums, in the worldwide, I have a Catalina Club Black Widow and the sound is amazing!!!

  • I actually know that guy, John. He's probably the nicest person you'd ever meet in your life. I'm glad he's with Gretsch!

  • thats cool

  • I've never played on the Catalina Club Jazz set, But right now i own the Catalina Ash, and it's an amazing set. Atleast for Metal, and harder style music.

  • Fuck yeah

  • Yup I had a New Classic bop at one time. Fantastic sounding kit. Great for all styles of music.

  • ha, i dout for metal

  • I'm looking at the new Classic Bop kit. Anyone out there played one?

  • look, do not get the catalina club jazz, they are soo poorly made. the hardware on them is rediculously cheap compared to othe gretsch models and the snare is not nearly as sensitive as a higher end gretsch snare. i strongly reccomend you save as much money as possible and get a usa custom or renown maple.

  • I'm looking to upgrade my catalina birch to another set made by gretsch. The catalina club jazz really caught my eye. Unfortunately I do not know much about drum hardware or acoustic sets...I just play what is given to me. Would trading in my birch for the club jazz be an upgrade or a downgrade?

  • It depends on what style of music you like, really. The Catalina Club Jazz drumset is what the name says: a jazz drumset. Jazz kits have a smaller bass and toms. So if those sizes aren't what you're looking for, you could look into another Gretsch. All kits Gretsch makes are good!!!

  • It's neither. It's the same line of drums, hence "catalina".

I upgraded from a Catalina Birch to a USA Custom kit. I got a really great deal on it on ebay, it was used.

I've played on Renown Maple kits before and they sound great.

  • I've been playing on Gretsch for 48 years. You can't go wrong with any Gretsch set, but as a rule of thumb, Catalina kits are good for young, just starting drummers with limited funds, Renown kits are great for the average giggng or touring musician and when you got the bucks and talent to justify them, the USA Custom sets are the only way to go. They'll last you a lifetime of playing.

  • @Elodea

I wish I had read this before I bought a kit last week. I ended up buying a Mapex QR

  • @Elodea catalina's lasts you a lifetime too, they sound awesome!

  • @Elodea

as soon as you said the catalina maple was 4 starters..... i got put off my catalinas :9

sorry. im 12 and i just won AUDW junior comp. i won $1000 of gretsch. i dont catalina maple anymore

i want a very professional kit

  • @TheMASDrummer Congrats! Aim high, the more you play with more experienced musicians, the better your skill level will increase. Keep practicing and never assume you "know it all", (there will always be some younger guy behind that's better!)

  • @Elodea

    thankyou

and good luck with your gretsch kit :)

  • @TheMASDrummer i dont think catalinas are only for beginners. In my opinion they are the best drums for the money and then some. Catalina club jazz sets are better than a lot of more expensive jazz sets by other companies. Yamaha for example. But over all, its the drummer that makes the music not the drums.

  • @Elodea Yeah man USA customs take you back to the Jazz days lol. I want one so bad. I have a Pearl kit and I'm about to buy a Ludwig classic maple kit in a week or two.

  • @Elodea amen man. Although I'll say that even the catalinas can be good for a gigging player if you're broke lol. I had a renown set and sold it for college money but I now have a catalina club mod and they are SWEET. I love how they're mahogany. Just nice and deep for rock and roll lol. But I agree. If you can afford it, USA customs are the only way to go.

  • great kit !

  • i think however has a gretsch has enough experience to setup a kit

  • i have the same kit. sounds great. but change the heads. i use vintage emps over clear ambassadors and they sound great (toms) pinstripe on bass and vintage ambassador over clear ambassador on snare.

  • That kit looks great!!
