I don't see why people lump this into metal.

I know they have the singer from Mayhem crooning and they "covered" from Whom the Bells Tolled, but from my ears they have more in common with the post rock or electronic genre.

Swans, Mogwai or even Godspeed! You Black Emperor or experimental techno are far more darker than the average death/black metal band IMVHO.

Metal used to be good, now its so boring. Thank God for Sunn O))))

Metal fans can be so conservative and narrow minded, but there is only so many times you can recycle riffs.

For me bands like Neurosis, Skinny Puppy or Godflesh were always far more interesting. I suppose after the terrible Nu Metal rubbish like Linkin Park or Slipknot with "DJ's" that can't DJ, no wonder metal fans don't like electronica.

Aphex Twin and Autechre are 100% more darker than the average black metal band.......

@dopplereffeckt675 I know, for example drum machines were the fucking thing with bands such as Ministry and those you mentioned but most metalheads consider drum machines to be false. that's why nowadays we only have old metal bands recycling their music and all of the -core scene which I consider is awful.

I also think that dark electronica like hocico or wumpscut are far darker and more evil than average metal and harder to get into

I miss the old EBM/Industrial stuff, like Front 242 and FLA and Neubaten. Back in the day I enjoyed Slayer and some of the old grindcore stuff, but now with few exception (Today is the Day,Sunn O))),Neurosis,Khanate) most of is not that good.

I moved into the more minimal/experimental/glitch stuff-check out Alva Noto, SND,Doppereffeckt, Murcof or Pansonic, well worth a listen if you are open minded and like the sound of machines.

Is it just about the heaviness of the sound? I've been listening to some of their songs. There are really heavy and really slow and very very long songs of them. I would want to know how exactly people listento them. Like listening to dream theater for technicality, tool for the uniqueness etc...

It's mysterious noise, it makes me think, it takes me away from the real world. Sometimes I just lay on the floor in the dark and listen to it...

They represent a dua/trio of a sort of sonic cult. they do what they want without care Also, they dont just play two notes back and forth for twenty minutes... check out black one. it is there darkest, bleakest recording. in it they first, have songs under ten minutes, have vocals, and perform a cover of a Mayhem song. also the screaming on the last track is what happens when you lock a claustraphobic vocalist with a microphone in a coffin.
