The ows movement would have put a smile on Ron Paul's face because he has been standing against the greed and corruption for over 30 years. The way people are thinking is changing, lets just hope it does not take another catastrophe to bring everyone around which unfortunately is looking more likely.
occupiers were there to show support and wanted to elicit a direct response from ron. most ows protesters agree with ron and know him. they're not retarded or stupid
i bet some of them really feel like and ass now that they realize that Ron Paul is the only one that is on their side. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH...in your face....now go out and vote Ron Paul. Its ok to be wrong ......I hope that these OWS people learned who Ron is.
Ron Paul is the one politician you Americans can count on.... and then you do this? I'm officially at war with OWS now, I'm going to just beat the shit out of any of you assholes if I ever meet you.... The closest OWS protest is 6hrs from here tho... sigh.
@jalderwood I pledged to defend Ron Paul... even though I'm in Canada... an attack on him is a personal slap in my face. Besides, protesting someone without knowing anything about them is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. It is no different than just insulting random people you meet on the street.
@GlynGreen1982 I should clarify, if I say, "Ron Paul" and they say, 'who?' or high five me, then I wont hurt them... but if they say he crazy... I'll show em crazy.
The longer we keep these false corrupt leaders in office, the deeper and longer our economic winter will be. Don’t just vote for Ron Paul…..be active and campaign for him as hard as you can…it is literally the most important thing you can do for your country, family and self right now. Ron Paul 2012!!
He is on your side. He is not only the best candidate, he is the only candidate that has our interests at heart. Do your homework OWS!! Ron Paul is not your enemy, he is your greatest ally!!! If you think Obama or the other clowns are the answer, you are sorely mistaken. We are going to have big problems regardless, because we live by the good graces of China’s cheap goods, lending and constraining their currency and consumption. That can’t/won’t last.
Ron handles confrontation so well. He is confident, because he knows he is on the right path and will not stray. OWS 99% protesting Ron Paul is like my dad used to say “cutting off your nose to spite your face”…..makes no damn sense! Do we need to pass out copies of Ron’s books….I recommend Revolution, a Manifesto (It could be called the guidebook to the coming Occupy movement, for all practical purposes).
When the government gets much smaller,, there will be no resources to lobby about. Corporations will not get protected from their buddies in office and they have to compete with the smaller ones as well.
This big government idea has bankrupted the country,,, how will making it bigger solve anything? When countries becomes too rich,, they always over extend themselves.
PEOPLE NEED TO SWITCH PARTIES 12 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE PRIMARIES OF MOST STATES.
IF YOU ARE NOT REGISTERED REPUBLICAN YOU CANNOT VOTE IN PRIMARY.
IF RON PAUL DOES NOT WIN PRIMARY, NO GENERAL ELECTION ! REGISTER AS A REPUBLICAN. FIND OUT WHEN YOUR STATE HAS PRIMARIES. FIND OUT WHERE AND VOTE VOTE VOTE ! PLEASE !
WE NEED EVERY LAST VOTE ! Copy and paste this everywhere! Thumbs up
please realize, there is no need to be mad that he got mic checked. this is brilliant for RPaul. don't be a snob, and let the OWS people realize they just had a 2012 presidential candidate who basically just said "ha, i am the candidate of the 99%, so i can't tell if this is ironic or a sign of support"
Ron Paul has been talking about this before anyone occupied anything.
This is a wasted mic check. Look into monetary policy and you'll see that Wall Street is little more than a side show next to the main event that is the Federal Reserve. The real crooks are taking from your very pocket through the monetary system itself. I agree that Wall Street is corrupt and it should be wiped off the face of the planet. I would also say that there are bigger crooks who take more money.
I don't trust ows. I think they are a left-wing version of the hostile, partisan,TeaOcon Party that was hijacked from The Ron Paul Revolution from 07.
@tanksbb Well, it probably is being hijacked by the very vocal and aggressive "leftist" and anarchy groups. Libertarians on the other hand, sympathize with rationality and considering other perspectives; just not as vocal and active.
people around the world may not know, but the young man who led the mike check is a troubador who has brought much joy and strength to the people of keene with his music. you can youtube him: craig dallas rice......he's in the tradition of the greart folk artists who bring their genius directly to the people. don't miss it!!!!!
Could it have been better? Hell yea! This was our first mic check of a candidate (in Keene) and there was a good deal of discussion the night before about message/strategy for the RP event. We carried out our plan & fact still remains that there was no mention at all of OWS before we mic checked and we put it on the map with our action. That was our objective and we accomplished it. It is o.k. to be imperfect. We may actually may learn more from our mistakes than when we do something perfectly.
I am not sure this was a "Hijack", they asked a question and Ron Paul agreed with them in general. They did in an odd way with there call and response, but it was mean to be herd not disrespectful in anyway. Ron Paul supporters should be doing everything they can to work with the OWS movement, if they could get all or more of the movement from OWS behind Ron Paul, he could very well become the next president.
If the republicans run a Gingrich or Rommey, the OWS will vote for Obama even though he has very little support in the movement on the idea that Obama is the sightly lesser evil. But Ron Paul on the other hand, would get all the support from the conservatives (as they will vote for anyone but Obama) and get much of the far left who want to end the wars, corporate cronyism and the shrinking of freedom, even if they may not agree with all Ron Paul's views.
@Loathomar anyone that doesn't see that or know this... I find they'll be our destruction... the ignorance of OWS's is apparent all over their pages... they'd be best to support Ron Paul I told them, most of them get it.. some reject RP cause of "social" issues, which mean nothing compared to the monied interests.
OWS is no longer co-opted by a fringe minority of socialists, who were very likely provocateurs used to label the Occupy protest in a poor light. But UC Davis students and others have absolutely changed the landscape.
It is now about the generations who are supposedly in debt in order to secure the "intended" projected profits of a few corporations. Through TARP, outrageous defense spending, TSA/DHS insane positions on terrorism when Americans encounter /other/ more pressing dangers every day.
OWS has become an important voice for change in our country.
But maybe these OWS people are unfamiliar with Ron Paul because his platform IS all about going after the 1% more than any candidate since JF Kennedy.
He is all for removing personhood from corporations, ending the FED, and restoring the constitution and individual rights.
Without Ron Paul in the White House, we will continue towards a police state, continue towards globalism and ultimately loose our voice in our government.
Yea but we wont have a department of education, EPA, commerce, illegal abortions, no increase in taxation on mega rich, and a ruined economy on account of trying to revert to an antiquated monetary system known as the gold standard.
@charlesdarwin321 His plan is to get rid of Federal Income tax. That would including everyone. You and me, and even the rich people. He's for getting rid of Tax loopholes for corporations because unlike other GOP candidates he doesn't believe corporations are people. Did you know GE paid ZERO taxes? .
On Abortion laws he says that it should be a state-level choice. Personally he against it but says it's no up to the federal government..
I don't want to get rid of federal income tax. We need to raise REVENUE to fund infrastructure projects, scientific research, and our education system.
His ideas are pie in the sky, no industrialized nation takes them seriously, they would be bad for this country. They are unrealistic ideas.
Yes, I know many corporations screw the system, this is precisely what liberals want to address by raising their taxes.
@charlesdarwin321 Folks can always put their money where their mouth is. Why not donate to the Government? Google "Gifts to the United States Government" and you'll get to the website that has this address: Gifts to the United States U.S. Department of the Treasury Credit Accounting Branch 3700 East-West Highway, Room 622D Hyattsville, MD 20782 Be aware that most of your donation will go toward Militarism (weapon contracts, Occupation and killing of innocent children.and we have done that!)
I'm a student with more debt than most people make in a year. But that's ok, when I'm finished I wont need government assistance, but I worry about those who do.
Right now I cannot contribute much, but the rich can, and that is what liberals understand will help this country, as the US had it's most prosperous growth under a much more progressive taxation system.
@getbo Yeah, because advocating for full deregulation of banks and lower taxes for the rich really is what the 99% wants, right?
Wake up! The 99% has the right ideas, but it needs to do a better job of identifying its enemies. Old Ronnie Paul is nothing more than a wolf in sheep's clothing.
@joemuscle52 Yes - Ron Paul's message of FREEDOM is radical because it is the same wild idea we have seen before from terrorists like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.
Ron Paul's message of LIBERTY is RADICAL in today's America, like it would be in Nazi Germany, Mao Tse Tung's China, Pol Pot's Cambodia etc...
@getbo The ONLY one running who is NOT NWO CORRUPTED. Ron Paul - its NOW or NEVER!!! Soooo send PAUL even a small donation for TV time. & PUT UP his YARD SIGN & mount that CAR STICKER. WEAR his gear every day in public. STORE-KARAOKE-RESTAURANT-GROCERY-BIKE RIDING-WALKING DOG-JOGGING etc & become involved. Post your own TUBE VIDEO. Wear his CAP & SHIRT. Got that BADGE yet? PRIMARY VOTE for RON PAUL if not YOU, then WHO???
@joemuscle52 I agree with you that OWS needs to do a better job of identifying who the enemy is. FYI - it is the FEDERAL RESERVE BANKING SYSTEM and those who run it.
Also Joe Muscle you haven't done your homework on Ron Paul's plan of action for the banking system. So you are in no position to advise anyone to wake up when clearly your opinion is an uninformed one.
That just goes to show how blind they are since RP is a Libertarian - Constitutionist running on the GOP ballot because 3rd Party doesn't have a chance against THEIR democrats and the Republican Mainstream. Its just amazing to me that they've lived this long in the dark and now they suddenly realize they have been fucked. We needed THEIR GD help to protest the bailouts with us BEFORE but they were busy voting for the corporate libtard democrats that voted FOR the bailouts.
I Was there it was just annoying that the last question.... he's going to have one more question to answer and they have to just say stand up and mic check their slogan... waste of time you didn't even ask a question.... i much rather would of heard something intellectually stimulating rather then the same old bull shit. waste of an opportunity to get a question in
I wish OWS people are more productive rather than camping out on public places, thinking that the society owes them something. Freedom goes hand in hand with responsibilities.
@jsiszero Yeah, and some of those people never even got the chance at responsibility because of their environment of upbringing and such. Perhaps you should swallow on that thought a bit more.
If that's the case and they're not happy about it, then they should blame themselves for being homeless. All individual in various socioeconomic levels can be productive and have something to contribute to. These OWS protesters are lazy, they expect that the society owes them everything. Guess what? The food that people bring to them, the clothes they wear, the signs they hold... it's gotta come from somewhere. They don't want to pay for them.
@jsiszero Wait wait, I seriously don't understand how you came to that conclusion - also, cite sources? You obviously have never studied sociology of classes and probably even lack empathy towards other human beings. Sure, there are the lazy bunch within the crowd, but a lot of them also go to the protests after working their day jobs. Putting a blanket statement on the crowd for the actions of the few is a logical fallacy.
Sorry, like most normal people, I don't give empathy to people who are spoiled and getting things handed down to them from other people. If they do go to protests after working their day jobs, at least don't camp on public places and dress like a hobo... and making the place look like filth which creates an inconvenience to the public.
@jsiszero "I don't give empathy to people who are spoiled and getting things handed down" So that would include the rich people as well? There is quite a bit of distinction between those that really don't have much from the beginning, and those that already do have everything set for them from the get-go because of their rich parents. Dress like hobo? You should think about why; critical thinking helps. Your socio-economic ideology will fail in the long run, just like the French Revolution.
Yes believe it or not, I'm one of the 99% and let me tell you, I support OWS and the idea about it but the execution is poor. Of course you might not have much from the beginning, instead of whining about it, how about you take action and work your ass off just like most of the 99%? Instead of camping out in the streets, homeless, living in tents, and expect city workers to clean up and feed after you. I'd rather do something productive and get rewarded for doing it.
Also, law enforcement did not force OWS protesters because of their freedom of expression, it's because they create such an inconvenience for the public. For that reason alone, OWS protesters have gone downhill in terms of credibility in delivering their message.
@jsiszero not to me.. alot of these people are homeless.. they come from surrounding subburbs and can't afford to travel back and forth to protest .. so they set up camp. i for one think the Police should be arresting those Criminals in Wall street and Congress.. as Ron paul said "Laws were broken yet no one went to jail" a Justice System that abuses the poor and bends over to the rich is no justice at all.. another ron Paul Quote is "My Justice Department would be harder working"
They are not homeless. They're lazy. There is a difference between working hard and feeding off other people and causing an inconvenience to most of the population.
@jsiszero what do you think Protest are for? it is to inconvenience you. you do not have a right to Silence. you do not have a right to live in a bubble ..the bill of rights recongnizing the rights of people to go into a bar and scream at people.. "why are you getting drunk, don't you know what the kings men are doing not 1 mile from here" under british law this man was arrested, under American law he is protected. An American Protest should shut business down it should inconvience zombies
Believe it or not, not all capitalism is bad. Just look at the local restaurants and small business owners in your own city. Not all businesses are driven by greed. By the way, you're right that we don't have the right to live in a bubble. However, if you are shouting in my face blocking my way as I commute to work to feed my family, I have the right to be upset and notify you to the proper authority for creating a unsanitary environment.
@jsiszero i know ..i agree with ron paul on that one.. small business isn't getting the bailout.. its getting screwed by this corrupt system. Pure Capitalism where Rothschild goes bankrupt because he tried to buy the world on credit .. not this crony capitalism where Rothschilds buddies can use Military force to make people take his credit. his product is a debt note. that he promises will buy goods.. so people accept it. but what happens when someone refuses it? the Government uses force.
The government invented the money supply so that there is a fair share of resource allocation. I lost respect for OWS protesters when they created unsanitary conditions and inconvenience to 99% of the public. They have a point but the execution is poor.
@jsiszero what? money is ancient .. let me guess America invented slavery too.. "its those damned Americans".. you like to blame the victim! Whatever the government accepts for taxes is currency, but as Ron Paul says the idea of money has been subverted, it has been isolated into the hands of a few while the masses are punished for trade, they arrested that guy for selling gold coins for Conterfieting .. do you not understand the subversion of our "capitalism" how is Gold Counterfeit?
@jsiszero calling them lazy is like calling the people of the 60s hippies. its a dismissal. you are just some lazy person looking to dismiss the tragedy of the world by blaming the victim . a herman Cain .. "don't blame wallstreet blame yourself" corruption, crony capitalism, corporatism, and out right fraud ..is not my fault. if NAFTA sent factories over seas its not my fault i don't have a job its the Governments fault .who bankrolled these Politicians into officer. Wall Street not me.
Life is never perfect. Every system has its flaws, to bitch and whine for it for the rest of your life is not going to get you nowhere. OWS people are pretty much spoiled brats like their rich counterparts, except they're poor. They don't represent the majority of the middle class. They're just blowing the rich-poor gap way out of proportion.
@jsiszero what? again you are dismissing reality to comfort yourself in delusion. Everyone knows the Nation is being looted by International Speculators. they gamble money and then when they loss they use their 'conections" to share the burden .. but when they make profits they don't share the wealth.. we can not have this 1 sided Socialism where we as Tax payers prop them up only to have our house taken by those we propped up.. Freddy and Fannie own millions of Acres because of Fraud.
Capital or money should be used as a tool, the problem with OWS protesters and banksters is they are driven by greed and how they should be distributed.
@jsiszero rich and poor means nothing to me anyway.. because a private bank controls the money supply.. so there are only house slaves and field slaves. the "rich" are house slaves .if they step out of line their Wealth will be siezed like Gerad Clamente or countless others. and the Poor are Feild slaves because well people like you tell them to stop crying and get to work. totally ignoring the injustice of it all.
no system is perfect.. true. but the system we have is slavery and its worst
That's your own opinion. Like I said, nothing in life is perfect. If you are motivated by social status and greed, rich or poor, then go out there, bitch and moan. Occupy whatever public area you desire without thinking about causing an inconvenience to others. This is what is wrong with people obsessed with capitalism. In no way I am motivated by money in doing what I do, I enjoy my work and it turns that I can monetize my talents and skills.
So... the last question was asked by OWS, cause nobody in their group got a mic until then. It is a very important question, where Ron Paul stands with OWS, and they waited until the very end of the thing, during the QA, which is intended to be a time when the audience asks questions anyways.
The socialist have mostly lost control of OWS so now they are trying to draw a line between us to divide an conquer.
I was there for this, it sounded like a lot more people than it was. i only counted around four. everyone in my row was laughing at them, i dont care about protesters, but i thought it was incredibly rude to do that in the Q&A, because it denied the last person to ask their question that could have been important.
Ron Paul has supported the Occupy movement... He takes no money from large corporations or lobbyists like all the others, including Obama. He has never changed his views ONCE in 30 years and has continuously fought the big bankers that ruin our economy. He has vowed to take only 49,000 a year as President, which is the average income of an American. He has always and will always be the defender of our economic and social rights. If you want REAL change look no further, because this man is IT!!
at :02 seconds you can here someone saying "there are morons in this room"
how true if the people shouted had took the time to see what Dr. Paul is about they wouldn't have wasted their breath and looked like idiots for being disrespectful, because he AGREES WITH THEM..
Shows how uneducated some of the occupy movement really is..
This is just something to consider. Look at the other candidates and personalities that have been Mic Checked. They all get mad and freak out about getting called out. Ron Paul keeps his cool, and answers them. Props to Ron Paul, a guy that apparently hasn't been bought and paid for yet.
OWS dislikes big corporations, libertarians dislike big government, but they can both agree on one thing: the collusion of corporation and government is terrifying, and needs to be stopped before it's too late.
They weren't protesting against Ron Paul. Watch the video carefully. They're protesting against Wall Street, something which Ron Paul also opposes. This is why, unlike Newt, Hermain Cain and other NWO-agents, Ron Paul actually addresses them with civility and logic as opposed to with anger.
Ron Paul's weirdo cult of followers (Paulamites) believe in Bigfoot and Little Green Spacemen in UFO's. They are also known for being the 9-11 Truther Movement that thinks Bush blew up the WTC Towers and for being Birthers (believing Obama was born in some other country). Ron Paul is a nut case and he has no chance to ever win the GOP. Ron Paul supports Terrorist Acts against the USA. Anyone who votes for for Ron Paul is wasting their vote. Ron Paul is wrong for the USA. Let us all say Amen.
It doesn't appear as though they're protesting Ron Paul or being disrespectful... just getting his attention... There's a big chunk of the Occupy protesters that like Ron Paul and Ron Paul feels the same back about the occupy movement. I don't think they were rude and they let him speak when it was his turn.... If I were there, I would welcome their input in the session. Remember, the Occupy movement is still at least trying to be a neutral movement, which is why they can't say what they want.
From my perspective, it looks as though they waited for him to finish speaking and even waited until the very end of his Q&A, got their word out and sat down. They even gave him time to respond. This to me seems like a perfectly civilized dialogue. Kudos to both the OWS protestors and Ron Paul.
@whattherichardd I think they were just trying to help Ron Paul's cause. If you notice, the guy that stood up and did the mic check actually applauded when Ron Paul said he was with them.
Ron Paul is the only one who can save us, why don't you go and protest at the other candidate's town halls? Ron Paul is WITH the 99% unlike the other guys..
In Feb 2011 this is how the Obama administration treats protesters-
"On Tuesday, as U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke on issues of free speech at George Washington University, 71-year-old former CIA analyst Ray McGovern was assaulted, dragged from the room and double handcuffed with metal cuffs causing profuse bleeding.
What had he done to elicit this treatment? He stood in "silent witness.""
Search youtube or Huff Post article:
Ray McGovern Hillary Clinton Internet Freedom Speech
To all those wondering why many Paul supporters are anti-OWS just go to the official OWS forum. Paul has essentially been defamed there simply by typing a comment with his name on it. They censor anything that deal with him. So don't give me this nonsense about OWS being one with Paul because the powers that be connected with OWS don't like him and wish everyone would shut up about him.
If you keep calling it OWS crashing and hijacking Ron Paul's Q&A ignorant Fox News watchers might think he's against OWS and then go vote for him. Keep it up!
He handled it very well. Also you can plainly see the man who was leading the rant/chant applauded Paul's response. So, I dunno, I wouldn't really call it a 'hijack' or 'crashing' his speech. They did after all wait until it was over.
@mariomoose It's called the peoples' mic or a mic check. the idea behind it is the issuance of a statement which is then repeated by like minded individuals, allowing for a quick spread of an idea amongst multitudes of protesters, or to make an impression on a small group by providing a show of unity.
@deadbunnieslie If i don't see a mic check on democrats (mic check on Obama, etc) I will denounce my support of OWS, stop going to a protest rally, etc but the right to protest because whoever is in charge are hypocrites and co-opting with the elites, the suspicion is getting more rampant as time goes by that this movement has been hijacked. These OWS websites are so anti-Paul even censoring his very name.
I support OWS and I'm a Ron Paul supporter. I spoke at an Occupy protest over seas and told the crowd of 300 or so about Ron Paul. Just the other day, a friend approached me who is from India/ Switzerland and said he thinks all Republicans are fools, except for this one guy. Guess who he was talking about...PAUL!
It seems to me these protesters are supporters also. He can win...he must win.
Why are the top comments, while writing this, anti-OWS?
Clearly the protesters here support Ron Paul, and Ron Paul supports them. Yes the group-chanting did seem cheesy, but that's no reason to be against them.
Some of you want change in Congress, but if you're also under the impression that OWS is full of pointless and stubborn students, then you're just thinking the way that people like FOX want you to think.
Thumbs up if you think people like Ron Paul and OWS will lead to good change.
Clearly in the beginning they just attention for themselves. If they were like the other people during the Q&A, they could have posed their questions without the need for chanting and such.
@vigrxpillsful Yep. And it can come across as annoying and immature.
But there are people that use this as a means to criticize OWS. Completely ignoring the fact that many members of OWS have brought up intelligent arguments in the past two months.
And like I said, is this chanting really a legit criticism against the movement?
@Bradax24 Ron Paul supporters use social media outlets like youtube on a regular basis to stay informed. We have seen many videos of OWS protesters bashing Ron Paul without knowing anything about him. It is obvious that the OWS protesters are trying to find their voice and there are many with open minds who are willing to listen to Ron Paul.
@wonderming1 I hope that this is saying that people are human and while some protesters will be shortsighted, there will be just as many who are willing to listen.
With that I say, yes. Some protesters are against politicians completely, but they're not of the popular opinion. Much of OWS want change in how the government handles banks and the 1%, and looking for politicians like Ron Paul is a step closer to that change.
@Bradax24 Absolutely. I know for certain there are more civilized people in this movement than are being seen. OWS is being ignored, it is being painted in a certain light, and the MSM is trying to keep it from growing without it being obvious. I think they fail at this and I think they fail at painting Ron Paul in a certain light. Both are ignored and marginalized. They should work together to create a loud voice.
Ron Paul has been ignored by the press on several occasions. As of why, who knows. Maybe he stands for issues that the press is against, or maybe he just doesn't stick out to them. Needless to say, he knows what he's talking about and it's criminal that the only places that will give him the light of day are the internet or the Daily Show.
I'm glad a detailed Youtube reply to one of my comments is open-minded, intelligent, and supportive. It's such a rare sight. ^_^
@Bradax24 I won't thumbs up for Ron Paul, but for OWS I would. While Ron Paul may be closer to the views of the OWS protestors, he still has policy ideas that are awful.
@missdarque The establishment absolutely fears Ron Paul.
He is proposing to go after the heart of corruption in Washington and take power from the mega corporations back into the hands of the republic the way it was set up by our forefathers.
@missdarque Maybe you haven't researched enough then, because his policies are much more rational and logical than all of the other Republican candidates, COMBINED.
@Bradax24 I agree with you 100% of the way. If you don't mind, I'm going to use this comment against anyone who supports Ron Paul but treats the OWS protesters as if they're a bunch of freeloading students. Both Paul's version of the Tea Party and OWS will lead this country to greatness.
who else would have responded like that to those OWS people....NO 1.....they would have been removed and possibly arrested.... Dr Ron ur amazing as always!
If Ron Paul has to win...these dumb OWS i d i ot s have togo him ...first protest and then get lectured. This way RP would get the eyeballs and some more following.
OWS guys are radarless and stubborn. This is the real guy who can save us all...support him and your protest gets a leader as well. whats the point of protest without demands....isnt tht called whining
If Ron Paul has to win...these dumb OWS i d i ot s have togo him ...first protest and then get lectured. This way RP would get the eyeballs and some more following.
You OWS people are right to be upset. unfortunately, you are pointing your gun at the effect, and not the cause. hell, 98 of the 99% believe that the answer is MORE of the exact same BS that got us here. please, i beg you, read some bastiat. keep an open mind to Austrian economics. its the only economic school that makes any sense. Keynesianism was built specifically to centralize power to the '1%'.
there is only one candidate that truly understands economics, and you guys just crashed his Q&A
Ron Paul is a class... He listened, and responded with sympathy. He has always been saying to those who criticize OWS movement that they shouldn't blame the victims of this corrupt system.
Love Ron Paul... My respect for him grows everyday :)
lordy - do the reactionaries in the audience not understand that this was not a protest? This was a protest movement voicing their concerns (using a unique and signature 'voice'). Yes, Dr. Paul was respectful and supportive, and the members of the Occupy group responded with applause to his respectful and on-point response.
I hope every politician up for election in the 2012 cycle will be asked to respond to this sort of prompt. The degree of responsiveness will be a good voting guide.
This is a little confusing. They weren't attacking him like other GOP candidates but they weren't saying anything supportive. They just stated their frustrations and waited for a response.
The call-and-response thing is sort of creepy. ("Yes We Can", anyone?) Don't these protestors realize that Ron Paul has been fighting on the side of the 99% since before most of them were even born?
Let's face it, OWS is an Acorn planted Alinsky attempt to cause further consternation among the populace. One-world govt types are funding them. Obama was an Acorn construct, a false showing of resistance to the good ole boy one world government thieves and war mongers. Now if OWS can cause enough civil strife then maybe Obama can have his Martial Law, especially if the elections don't seem to go his way.
Ron Paul is such a fucking G :D

The ows movement would have put a smile on Ron Paul's face because he has been standing against the greed and corruption for over 30 years. The way people are thinking is changing, lets just hope it does not take another catastrophe to bring everyone around which unfortunately is looking more likely.

Ron Paul's stop in Davenport, Iowa yesterday had a real nice mic check . . .
youtube search "whistle stop ron paul - davenport, iowa" its much better than this one, nice!

cool that we finally have a uniting force instead of a dividing one.

Ok, the OWS are officially morons.
Ron Paul is the one politician you Americans can count on.... and then you do this? I'm officially at war with OWS now, I'm going to just beat the shit out of any of you assholes if I ever meet you.... The closest OWS protest is 6hrs from here tho... sigh.

That can’t/won’t last.
comeon388 2 months ago

I believe they should have done this at a Mitt Romney or Rick Perry debate, for they would have been much more effective.

Loathomar 3 months ago
If the republicans run a Gingrich or Rommey, the OWS will vote for Obama even though he has very little support in the movement on the idea that Obama is the sightly lesser evil. But Ron Paul on the other hand, would get all the support from the conservatives (as they will vote for anyone but Obama) and get much of the far left who want to end the wars, corporate cronyism and the shrinking of freedom, even if they may not agree with all Ron Paul's views.
Loathomar 3 months ago 10

OWS is no longer co-opted by a fringe minority of socialists, who were very likely provocateurs used to label the Occupy protest in a poor light. But UC Davis students and others have absolutely changed the landscape.
It is now about the generations who are supposedly in debt in order to secure the "intended" projected profits of a few corporations. Through TARP, outrageous defense spending, TSA/DHS insane positions on terrorism when Americans encounter /other/ more pressing dangers every day.
votingronpaul2008 3 months ago
OWS has become an important voice for change in our country.
But maybe these OWS people are unfamiliar with Ron Paul because his platform IS all about going after the 1% more than any candidate since JF Kennedy.
He is all for removing personhood from corporations, ending the FED, and restoring the constitution and individual rights.
Without Ron Paul in the White House, we will continue towards a police state, continue towards globalism and ultimately loose our voice in our government.

Yea but we wont have a department of education, EPA, commerce, illegal abortions, no increase in taxation on mega rich, and a ruined economy on account of trying to revert to an antiquated monetary system known as the gold standard.
charlesdarwin321 3 months ago
@charlesdarwin321 His plan is to get rid of Federal Income tax. That would including everyone. You and me, and even the rich people. He's for getting rid of Tax loopholes for corporations because unlike other GOP candidates he doesn't believe corporations are people. Did you know GE paid ZERO taxes? .
On Abortion laws he says that it should be a state-level choice. Personally he against it but says it's no up to the federal government..
steadicamrickshaw 3 months ago
@steadicamrickshaw
I don't want to get rid of federal income tax. We need to raise REVENUE to fund infrastructure projects, scientific research, and our education system.
His ideas are pie in the sky, no industrialized nation takes them seriously, they would be bad for this country. They are unrealistic ideas.
Yes, I know many corporations screw the system, this is precisely what liberals want to address by raising their taxes.
charlesdarwin321 3 months ago

I'm a student with more debt than most people make in a year. But that's ok, when I'm finished I wont need government assistance, but I worry about those who do.
Right now I cannot contribute much, but the rich can, and that is what liberals understand will help this country, as the US had it's most prosperous growth under a much more progressive taxation system.
Neoliberalism has failed, mixed economies WORK.
charlesdarwin321 3 months ago

I wish OWS people are more productive rather than camping out on public places, thinking that the society owes them something. Freedom goes hand in hand with responsibilities.
jsiszero 3 months ago
@jsiszero Yeah, and some of those people never even got the chance at responsibility because of their environment of upbringing and such. Perhaps you should swallow on that thought a bit more.
avocadodesu 3 months ago
@avocadodesu
They don't want to pay for them.
jsiszero 3 months ago
@jsiszero Wait wait, I seriously don't understand how you came to that conclusion - also, cite sources? You obviously have never studied sociology of classes and probably even lack empathy towards other human beings. Sure, there are the lazy bunch within the crowd, but a lot of them also go to the protests after working their day jobs. Putting a blanket statement on the crowd for the actions of the few is a logical fallacy.
avocadodesu 3 months ago
@avocadodesu
Sorry, like most normal people, I don't give empathy to people who are spoiled and getting things handed down to them from other people. If they do go to protests after working their day jobs, at least don't camp on public places and dress like a hobo... and making the place look like filth which creates an inconvenience to the public.
jsiszero 3 months ago
@jsiszero "I don't give empathy to people who are spoiled and getting things handed down" So that would include the rich people as well? There is quite a bit of distinction between those that really don't have much from the beginning, and those that already do have everything set for them from the get-go because of their rich parents. Dress like hobo? You should think about why; critical thinking helps. Your socio-economic ideology will fail in the long run, just like the French Revolution.
avocadodesu 3 months ago
@avocadodesu
I'd rather do something productive and get rewarded for doing it.
jsiszero 3 months ago
Also, law enforcement did not force OWS protesters because of their freedom of expression, it's because they create such an inconvenience for the public. For that reason alone, OWS protesters have gone downhill in terms of credibility in delivering their message.
jsiszero 3 months ago
@jsiszero not to me.. alot of these people are homeless.. they come from surrounding subburbs and can't afford to travel back and forth to protest .. so they set up camp. i for one think the Police should be arresting those Criminals in Wall street and Congress.. as Ron paul said "Laws were broken yet no one went to jail" a Justice System that abuses the poor and bends over to the rich is no justice at all.. another ron Paul Quote is "My Justice Department would be harder working"
MrJustonemorename 2 months ago
@MrJustonemorename
They are not homeless. They're lazy. There is a difference between working hard and feeding off other people and causing an inconvenience to most of the population.
jsiszero 2 months ago
@jsiszero what do you think Protest are for? it is to inconvenience you. you do not have a right to Silence. you do not have a right to live in a bubble ..the bill of rights recongnizing the rights of people to go into a bar and scream at people.. "why are you getting drunk, don't you know what the kings men are doing not 1 mile from here" under british law this man was arrested, under American law he is protected. An American Protest should shut business down it should inconvience zombies
MrJustonemorename 2 months ago
@MrJustonemorename
Believe it or not, not all capitalism is bad. Just look at the local restaurants and small business owners in your own city. Not all businesses are driven by greed. By the way, you're right that we don't have the right to live in a bubble. However, if you are shouting in my face blocking my way as I commute to work to feed my family, I have the right to be upset and notify you to the proper authority for creating a unsanitary environment.
jsiszero 2 months ago
@jsiszero i know ..i agree with ron paul on that one.. small business isn't getting the bailout.. its getting screwed by this corrupt system. Pure Capitalism where Rothschild goes bankrupt because he tried to buy the world on credit .. not this crony capitalism where Rothschilds buddies can use Military force to make people take his credit. his product is a debt note. that he promises will buy goods.. so people accept it. but what happens when someone refuses it? the Government uses force.
MrJustonemorename 2 months ago
@MrJustonemorename
The government invented the money supply so that there is a fair share of resource allocation. I lost respect for OWS protesters when they created unsanitary conditions and inconvenience to 99% of the public. They have a point but the execution is poor.
jsiszero 2 months ago
@jsiszero what? money is ancient .. let me guess America invented slavery too.. "its those damned Americans".. you like to blame the victim! Whatever the government accepts for taxes is currency, but as Ron Paul says the idea of money has been subverted, it has been isolated into the hands of a few while the masses are punished for trade, they arrested that guy for selling gold coins for Conterfieting .. do you not understand the subversion of our "capitalism" how is Gold Counterfeit?
MrJustonemorename 2 months ago
@jsiszero calling them lazy is like calling the people of the 60s hippies. its a dismissal. you are just some lazy person looking to dismiss the tragedy of the world by blaming the victim . a herman Cain .. "don't blame wallstreet blame yourself" corruption, crony capitalism, corporatism, and out right fraud ..is not my fault. if NAFTA sent factories over seas its not my fault i don't have a job its the Governments fault .who bankrolled these Politicians into officer. Wall Street not me.

@MrJustonemorename
Life is never perfect. Every system has its flaws, to bitch and whine for it for the rest of your life is not going to get you nowhere. OWS people are pretty much spoiled brats like their rich counterparts, except they're poor. They don't represent the majority of the middle class. They're just blowing the rich-poor gap way out of proportion.
jsiszero 2 months ago
@jsiszero what? again you are dismissing reality to comfort yourself in delusion.
MrJustonemorename 2 months ago
@MrJustonemorename
Capital or money should be used as a tool, the problem with OWS protesters and banksters is they are driven by greed and how they should be distributed.
jsiszero 2 months ago
@jsiszero rich and poor means nothing to me anyway.. because a private bank controls the money supply.. so there are only house slaves and field slaves. the "rich" are house slaves .if they step out of line their Wealth will be siezed like Gerad Clamente or countless others. and the Poor are Feild slaves because well people like you tell them to stop crying and get to work. totally ignoring the injustice of it all.
no system is perfect.. true. but the system we have is slavery and its worst
MrJustonemorename 2 months ago
@MrJustonemorename
In no way I am motivated by money in doing what I do, I enjoy my work and it turns that I can monetize my talents and skills.
jsiszero 2 months ago
So... the last question was asked by OWS, cause nobody in their group got a mic until then. It is a very important question, where Ron Paul stands with OWS, and they waited until the very end of the thing, during the QA, which is intended to be a time when the audience asks questions anyways.
The socialist have mostly lost control of OWS so now they are trying to draw a line between us to divide an conquer.

It doesn't appear as though they're protesting Ron Paul or being disrespectful... just getting his attention... What had he done to elicit this treatment? He stood in "silent witness.""

mariomoose 3 months ago 2
@mariomoose It's called the peoples' mic or a mic check. the idea behind it is the issuance of a statement which is then repeated by like minded individuals, allowing for a quick spread of an idea amongst multitudes of protesters, or to make an impression on a small group by providing a show of unity.
deadbunnieslie 3 months ago
@deadbunnieslie If i don't see a mic check on democrats (mic check on Obama, etc) I will denounce my support of OWS, stop going to a protest rally, etc but the right to protest because whoever is in charge are hypocrites and co-opting with the elites, the suspicion is getting more rampant as time goes by that this movement has been hijacked. Some of you want change in Congress, but if you're also under the impression that OWS is full of pointless and stubborn students, then you're just thinking the way that people like FOX want you to think.
Thumbs up if you think people like Ron Paul and OWS will lead to good change.

@Bradax24
Clearly in the beginning they just attention for themselves. If they were like the other people during the Q&A, they could have posed their questions without the need for chanting and such.
vigrxpillsful 3 months ago
@vigrxpillsful Yep. And it can come across as annoying and immature.
But there are people that use this as a means to criticize OWS. Completely ignoring the fact that many members of OWS have brought up intelligent arguments in the past two months.
And like I said, is this chanting really a legit criticism against the movement?
Bradax24 3 months ago
@Bradax24 Ron Paul supporters use social media outlets like youtube on a regular basis to stay informed. We have seen many videos of OWS protesters bashing Ron Paul without knowing anything about him. It is obvious that the OWS protesters are trying to find their voice and there are many with open minds who are willing to listen to Ron Paul.
wonderming1 3 months ago
@wonderming1 I hope that this is saying that people are human and while some protesters will be shortsighted, there will be just as many who are willing to listen.
With that I say, yes. Some protesters are against politicians completely, but they're not of the popular opinion. Much of OWS want change in how the government handles banks and the 1%, and looking for politicians like Ron Paul is a step closer to that change.
I'm glad we agree on that.
Bradax24 3 months ago
@Bradax24 Absolutely. I know for certain there are more civilized people in this movement than are being seen. OWS is being ignored, it is being painted in a certain light, and the MSM is trying to keep it from growing without it being obvious. I think they fail at this and I think they fail at painting Ron Paul in a certain light. Both are ignored and marginalized. They should work together to create a loud voice.
wonderming1 3 months ago
@wonderming1 Definitively.

While Ron Paul may be closer to the views of the OWS protestors, he still has policy ideas that are awful.
missdarque 3 months ago
@missdarque The establishment absolutely fears Ron Paul.
He is proposing to go after the heart of corruption in Washington and take power from the mega corporations back into the hands of the republic the way it was set up by our forefathers.
What policy ideas do you mean?
getbo 3 months ago 4
@missdarque Maybe you haven't researched enough then, because his policies are much more rational and logical than all of the other Republican candidates, COMBINED.
avocadodesu 3 months ago
@Bradax24 I agree with you 100% of the way. If you don't mind, I'm going to use this comment against anyone who supports Ron Paul but treats the OWS protesters as if they're a bunch of freeloading students. Both Paul's version of the Tea Party and OWS will lead this country to greatness.

@CuriousGeorgeMonkey9 By all means. ^_^
The written word is free, and people have the right to spread their opinions.

@Bradax24 Thanks! The only reason the media vilifies Dr. Paul and the Occupy Wall Street movement is because they are at the heart of the corruption!

There's something very creepy about people reciting in unison like this.
Dr. Paul did a very fine job of responding to this rather churlish intrusion.

My respect for him grows everyday :)
allbu849 3 months ago 4
lordy - do the reactionaries in the audience not understand that this was not a protest? This was a protest movement voicing their concerns (using a unique and signature 'voice'). Yes, Dr. Paul was respectful and supportive, and the members of the Occupy group responded with applause to his respectful and on-point response.
I hope every politician up for election in the 2012 cycle will be asked to respond to this sort of prompt. The degree of responsiveness will be a good voting guide.

This is a little confusing. They weren't attacking him like other GOP candidates but they weren't saying anything supportive. They just stated their frustrations and waited for a response.

Ron Paul for president, thank you.
pinkzeppelin1982 3 months ago
The call-and-response thing is sort of creepy. ("Yes We Can", anyone?) Don't these protestors realize that Ron Paul has been fighting on the side of the 99% since before most of them were even born?

"Two legs bad, four legs good"
Let's face it, OWS is an Acorn planted Alinsky attempt to cause further consternation among the populace. One-world govt types are funding them. Obama was an Acorn construct, a false showing of resistance to the good ole boy one world government thieves and war mongers. Now if OWS can cause enough civil strife then maybe Obama can have his Martial Law, especially if the elections don't seem to go his way.
