  • A viking is like a christian, he don't want to go to hell [Niflheim] after his death, because the hell of Asatrú is like his home, cold and with no good soil for planting, and if he don't expand, conquer, explore and other things, he will go to hell. Simplifying: he follow what his religion says, do everything he can to get out of his cold home, if he don't do that, he is a coward, and he will go to Niflheim. Thumbs up to everyone see what is a viking wight

  • @Quillinhoful Only those who die as heroes in battle will go to Valhöll. Those who don't go to Niflheim, regardless of their behaviour in life.

  • @crywolf30

And what about those who commited suicide?.. It would be interesting to know...

  • @SuperRevenger666 I think they'd also go to Niflheim. Valhöll is pretty much only for the heroic.

  • @crywolf30 Yes, but you can see that Niflheim has the cold weather like the home of the vikings. And you're right. But you can notice that a viking is like a christian, he don't want to go to hell, so he does what his religion says. I recommend a hq for you that is called "Northlanders"

  • Don't forget about old polish-norwegian union between polish king Burisleif and Olav Tryggvason against Svein Forkbeard supported with power of 60 boats full of warriors. Funny, cause Burislejfs sister/daughter Gunhilda (Sygryda Storråd) was Svein wife ;)

Olav Tryggvason spent 3 years in Jomsborg which was under Burislejf command.

    Old forgotten history...

    Poland forever pagan!

  • This is one "wealthy" video. =p

  • This song is so beautiful and video is so cute.

  • This song reveals why vikings got their bad reputation, but if you read the whole version you can't deny the brutality and corruption of Olaf. Read Longfellow's Saga of King Olaf and see how many viking women he raped in his conquest. As christians encroached on Nordic lands and forced their beliefs on them they began to fight back and often burned churches and plundered christian villages when they went a viking.

  • This video went viral on Libya

  • that definition is also wrong, to go a viking is simply to go on a journey, the actions taken on the journey are not important to the definition of the word.

for many vikingr (a person who goes viking) this was a far more peaceful affair than others

for example many of the viking from the land we now call sweden reputedly went east and simply traded and explored (not all did some fought) and brought back clothes and other artifacts from the east, particularly the byzantine empire.

  • King Olav... Das gibts auch bei Amon Amarth...

  • hi my name is thunder huwck im 10' charakee and 50' european and russian mix and born in usa. ............native pride

  • Glymur dansur í höll,

    dans sláið ring.

    Glaðir ríða noregs menn

    til Hlíðar þings!

Íslenzkur og stoltur af þeim, frábært lag frá bræðrum mínum í Færeyjum!

  • @Kuksoman Pagan is NOT a crucial part of the term "Viking", "Viking" comes from the living habits of the vikings... Which is, living in Viks (Coves), it was nothing more than that, Viking simply means "man from vik"

  • @Croccifixo someone's reading too much of wikipedia hehe ;)

  • @Croccifixo Wrong, the definition of a viking is a man who "goes for Viking" which is a term that defines looting and plundering across seas. Which again has it's name from men living in the vik's.

  • i want my kids to be just like this!!!

  • 240p....we meet again

  • the tromo2000 i´m faroese but my father isin´t a barbarien but a lawyer and every country was violence that time i mean many of country is more violence then that time

  • There are only 48 thousand people on the Faroe Islands, and still they managed to find so amazing guys....

  • @Drochtinn yes

  • Hail Viking Heroes, Greeting From Noregis Land. Awesome kvad. Beautiful music.

  • @ Viccerez Odin is no Allfather, oden is Allfathers son and oden has brothers too Willie and Weh are The Brothers of Oden, Thor is the son of odin!!

  • @Bloodboundable Odin, wotan, woden... are the same god

Thor, or Donar as it was in the old germanic belives wich the norse came from was also the son of woden

Vilje and Ve is the brothers of Odin in norse, what you say is that they are different, only the names :)

  • @Bloodboundable CHeck Havamal. Alfater is one of the names of Oden.

  • \m/ Frá Tvøroyri!

  • 23 people listen to rap.

  • 22 are fags.

  • This song is so epic!

    Hail from Iceland! \m/

  • thor heyerdal har interesane teorier..kansje har han rett.les:det finns ingen grenser.

  • I find Norse mythology and the culture interesting, because it's all a part of the history of this world. I do not agree with anyone who thinks negatively of any culture. I did get a necklace of Mjollnir for christmas (cause I asked for it). I'm proud of my heritage. I'm of Italian, Norse, Danish, and Irish descent. My father's grandparents were born in Denmark and Norway. I live in the USA (not the greatest country in the world, btw). I hope to Odin to one day visit Scandanavia.

  • @DKfan87 :

You should, mate! A lot of history here for you to see.

  • @gummihjerne. I know. I've paid attention to the history of that region of Europe in history classes.

  • @DKfan87 : Great:-) I teach history myself, and as far as I'm concerned (biased, I know) history is more than important to study. I'm Danish myself, but I know of some great books in English about the viking age and Norse mythology. I can give you the titles, I you are interested. Cheers!

  • @DKfan87 : I meant "if you are interested."

  • @gummihjerne. I knew what you meant. And yea, I'm more than interested. I've read a translated version of Beowulf and a few books on the Viking Age and it's mythologies. I just need a shitload of money saved up for any journey to Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, or Finland.

  • @DKfan87 Finland did not have "vikings" they had some colonies, but the vikings mostly kept away from there, they did not like the finnish magicans

  • @smashbar333 to add to that, it's to do with scandinavian inheritance laws from that time (from what a finn tells me).. the finns were for the most part guaranteed land so never bothered going elsewhere to look for it

  • @DKfan87 : Right then, you should check out "Sagas of the Norsemen: Viking and German Myth" by Loren Auerbach and also "What life was like - When longships sailed" from Time-Life Books.

I hope you'll be able to come across them and they'll be usefull to you. And the best of luck with any journeys to Scandinavia.

  • I have found a way of cheating the laws of Europe when it comes to carrying a sword ;) get a norse sword tattooed onto your hand. so whenever you die, you'll die with your sword. (ha!) great band, great song, great people all here and i can only say I am proud to love Odin as my father. most religions prey on the weak but not our beliefs. They make the weak strong and the strong confident. thanks for the upload

  • is there any traduction of this song ?

  • Comment removed

  • @Croccifixo True indeed. Vikings were forced to war with christianity after the christians had refused to trade with them for being heathen. A culture that heavily on honour, felt offended for that, and the fact that no trade meant no money

  • @Croccifixo - It is true that vikings were fishermen and craftsmen but back in the good old days, they were feared. They would go and kill everything in a large radius around the Nordic countries, annihilating England a few times. When the English crusaders came to Iceland to offer the new shit religion, they did nothing to offend because they knew we'd fuck them up and those were the guys who slaughtered hundreds of thousands all over the world in order to force christianity on them.

  • @Croccifixo

correct, but TRUE vikings were pagan, it is a crucial part of term ''Viking''

    Tryggvason is traitor...

  • @Croccifixo There is a difference between a Viking and a farmer. A viking is, by definition, that. A berserk who went abroad, taking slaves, robbing and burning villages, raping women, etc.

  • Greetings From Turkey. It is a perfect song

  • i'm soooo fuckin' PROUD!! of this Band^^

    LOVE THE FAROE ISLANDS!! xD

-words from a Faroese girl herself^^ me!

  • How funny that Heri, the lead singer of this band, thinks Heathens/Asatruar/Odinists are "just as silly as Christians(He is an atheist)" and yet they constitute a large portion of his fan base. Almost makes me wonder if the bands entire basis is a lie.

  • @karelsson So what? I find religions silly, doesn't mean I can't find viking culture rich and interesting. Christians are just as silly, aren't cathedrals good looking?

  • @karelsson

Not really, they probably find those stories fascinating, which is why they sing about them. I find them fascinating too and I enjoy them, but I don't have to believe in them.

  • @tromo2000 Kinda funny you should say that actually... A VERY large percentage of vikings were christian ;)

  • @Croccifixo The Sons of Odin stand loyal to the Alfather. No matter how perverse and sly the Christian Menace becomes we shall not falter, shall not fade.

Rewrite history all you want. Odin is God, Thor his Son, Freya the mother of Nature. I need no gods but the Aesir and Vanir; My guide, my kin, my clan. The truth of the Rus cannot vanish so long as the blood flows through the veins of the Asatru!

  • @d3fjef I am not in any way trying to rewrite history. When I wrote my last comment, I was not even of christian belief myself, I was only stating something which has been proven to be true by findings from those times.

  • @Croccifixo Wrong! I am Norwegian and know my history...The Viking-culture dissappeared with the christian sword. Real Vikings belived in Thor and Odin!

  • @tromo2000 all vikings are real, some believed in the gods, some believed in destroying villages and raping christians. Or both....

  • I'm from an exotic island and really i'm fascinated by the Viking lifestyle. Oh how i'd love them to be here!

  • so it's all about your fear loosing your culture! fear of strangers. true and strong people don't have fear of foreign things and of loosing their identity. and they don't need 'pride' for their self-confidence. to be proudly, is an infirmity!

  • @FadingVitals

Masser af ordgeil uden reelt indhold...smarte kommentarer på bekostning af andre...vis dog lidt mandsmod og hav en selvstændig mening...

I´m proud of my ancestors and their achievements...and of my own achievements...

  • @FadingVitals England used to be a proud place, now days there is no pride in our heritage or culture, Once upon a time if a man punched a woman he would have the shit kicked out of him. People would remember how to be polite (saying please and thank you) now days in England it seems that women beating and glareing at people who hold a door open for you are really nice ways of interacting with each other... community and culture walk hand in hand a lot of the time, if a culture lacks teaching

  • then the community will also suffer, if that makes sense, growing up I was taught by my folks that our culture was about respect so say please and thank you, never strike a woman, always do a good honest days work. Now I know a lot of people that have not been braught up without that cultural teaching as a result I end up gettin rude remarks when I try to be polite.

  • @ClintDuza thats the point! i was taught by family, friends, and the people around me with the same values like you. my neighbour city, my neighbour state... people are so different in many things. some kilometers away, the people have other traditions, using other words and so on... there is no One culture. and i can't judge about the people who taught me. if i would, i would also have to say them what they did wrong. i'm now individual.

  • @ClintDuza if i would say I'm proud of them, includes i'm proud of their mistakes too. proudness is just the wrong word! that's what i want to say. (by the way, i'm not english)

  • @FadingVitals it depends what sense of pride you get out of it I suppose, for example if your proud of the mistakes then yeah its the wrong word but you can be proud that they learnt from the mistakes they made and sent the teachings on so that you would not repeat the mistakes they made. Too be honest I dunno who the arguments directed at I just decided to throw in some extra thoughts as it is an interesting opinionated discussion.

  • text anyone??

  • Ashamed to admit this, but i'm Faroese and i can barely make out a word. Granted, i have lived in Denmark since i was born, so i don't use "old" Faroese words in my daily speech that much, but i had kind of expected to understand at least most of it. Perhaps it can be partially blamed on my shitty headphones. XD

Hetta rular :P Eg veit ikki, hví eg ikki eri beginnt at hoyra Viking Metal fýri enn nú :D ...Tad er ordiliga býtt at mítt headset riggar so illa, eg hoyri tad nestan ikki. >_<

  • kocham to! :*

  • beautiful

  • Awesome song and love the Faroe language!

How similar the Icelandic and Faroese language are just makes the lyrics much more fun to listen to for me as an Icelander

  • The song is about the Battle of Svoldr and the death of King Olaf Tryggvason of Norway in 1000 A. D.

  • <3 France

  • @POW008 why swedish ? The song is about Ólaf Tryggvason, the Norwegian King

  • Faroese is the language which resembels the original old norse language the most.

  • @xPulse187x It's Icelandic.

  • @GodNameInVain its actually from Faroe Islands, its not icelandic

  • @mussimussi100

I'm referring to xPulse187x, who said that Faroese language resembles Old Norse the most.

I'm not saying that Tyr is singing in Icelandic. No.

  • @mussimussi100 But the song is Norwegian ^^

  • @HaakonTheViking This song has been written by the most gifted ballad writer in recorded Faroese History Jens Christian Djurhuus some 200 years ago, where he made the melody and wrote the sing in the FAROESE language.Norway ain't got shit credits for this song whatsoever.

Maybe you should start talking about stuff you actually know something about next time, what'cha say? ^^,

  • @aGeilini Why so agressive? u mad bro? :P Btw Norway actualy got shit on this song, becouse if it wherent for Norwegians there wouldn't be annything to sing about! And don't forgett that the farose people are descendants of Norwegian Vikings :P

  • @HaakonTheViking You do know that this song is about how Norwegians got their asses kicked by Danes and Swedes, i can't see how Norwegians being credited for making history that has some story telling value, ever will make up for the great humiliation of such a defeat. And you say that even tho' the it is over a 1100 years ago since Norwegians became Faroese and how Norwegian were far from the first Vikings who settled the islands Norway still deserves credit for this song?!?! you baffle me X,D

  • @aGeilini Wherem did you learn your history? even though Norwegians wheren't the first vikings to settle on the farose islands, the majority of the population is descendant of norwegians. allso the swedes and danes did fight against king olaf, but it was Eirik Jarl and hes men who took Ormen Lange. And if it wasn't for Eirik jarl, the danes and sweeds would hava atacket too early and olaf would have escaped.

  • @xPulse187x

Well, actually the language that resembles Old Norse the most is Icelandic.

  • the norwgian language did not really descend from norse, rather swedish and danish. many people say that norse is the real norwegian, but in that case Icelanders ismore norwegian than norwegians!

  • @vargmo

Icelandic sounds and looks just like the original Old Norse.

  • @Kobbain It sure looks like Old-Norse but it does NOT sound exactly the same, that's a fact.

  • @vargmo All the scandinavian languages descend from old norse. Modern Norwegian is a mix between old norse and danish, due to The danish language being the official language of the Danish-Norwegian union. The icelandic people emigrated from mainly Norway. Norwegian language have been influanced by danish swedish and other european languages over the years.

  • The vikings mixed with everybody. I'm part Sewdish, so yeah.

    I looove týr!

  • @Wandall13 Eg er íslenskur, og eg skil hvað þú segir!

  • @crywolf30 og eg skilji hvat tú sigur :p

  • Týr in their best time

  • It's only racist because people will know they'll get something for saying it. They'd say a carrot is racist if you paid them. it's a sad tribute to how low we've become. I wish to be this age in those days we hear in legends and stories. of fighting at stamford bridge and drinking in the halls of Hrothgar. to be around when beowulf was spoken of and when the gods could give riches and take them away. remain true to yourselves in head and heart and you cant be thwarted. i pray for death

  • I am of Spanish Decent and I dont care.

  • @MizuOtaku same here

  • I don't have any problem with other people. But many had a racisistic stance because I am Greek. And it is fucking pissing me because we never did anything that had offended others as a race. And by the way this band is great.

  • Today if you don't undermine your culture AND you're white, you're a racist, a nazi AND a fascist.

Fuck you, I'm proud of what I am because I can, and because I have all the reason.

That doesn't mean MY culture is the ONLY one to have done something good. But being proud doesn't mean I'm gonna destroy every other cultures in the world.

But there are just so many people outside that would want to make us believe we must be ashamed of our past.

Without past, there is no future!

  • @Haeresiarchonte i'm black and i appreciate my culture, and appreciate the Euro culture,i understand this music is simply a celebration of that, and that is respectable

  • @Haeresiarchonte Agreed, and in my case my people haven't done anything great for more or less 600 years, yet still I am proud, yet still I respect the old ways. I hate Hitler for what he did to my cultural heritage, shame be on his kind to Ragnarok and beyond the fall of Nidhogg

  • @NorseWinter I completely agree with you NorseWinter, I might be an American but my European roots lye mostly in Scandinavia and I am proud of that. I hate how Hitler took Nordic symbols and used them in his Nazi regime, when he did that he spat in the face of a great culture and he should have suffered for it because now people that don't read into history will always associate those symbols with Nazism.

  • @Haeresiarchonte If it werent for the white race, imagine what this world would be at the moment. It would still be in the dark ages. Look at Africa, the Middle East, Central America! Poverty, disease ,no economy. Not racist either, but people do not realize what the white man has done for this world. Also Blacks are NOT the only people on Earth to be enslaved, whites were slaves as well. Look at Egypt, Rome, Greece, where they enslaved Gauls,Picts, Goths, and Celts. Fed us to LIONS!!!! Sigh

  • @Haeresiarchonte Amen.

  • @Haeresiarchonte You have never been so right this world wants us all to be sheep and not be free thinkers, I am appalled that my ancestors suffered 2,000 years of genocide for a false God. Catholics slaughtered my ancestors, I live on through their souls to fulfill my own purpose. I am proud to be born Scottish, Swedish, and Irish !!! HAIL TO MY ANCESTORS !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Haeresiarchonte WRONG defintivly - wrong

we can only start in a better future during leave our past. we can learn from our failures - even if were germans.

but the future is not defined by the past - its defined by us. remember youre power, and not the power of your culture. it doesnt help you to be a german, british, celtish or indian man. be strong out of your heart and not your culture

  • @Haeresiarchonte You can only be proud of your own achievements! People who are proud of their culture havent perform anything by their own. Being proud of others "achievements" shows your own insignificance and just says: I am a Nobody!

  • @FadingVitals Cattle die

    kinsmen die

    all men are mortal.

    Words of praise

    will never perish

    nor a noble name

    The Havamal

  • @FadingVitals not comepletly true it tells other that you admire what they did and want to do sonthing just as asume

  • @FadingVitals Not true. I can be, and am, proud of the achievements of others, living and dead -- that doesn't mean I'm not proud of myself as well. It means I'm not self-centered. It means I acknowledge their value to me, and the inspiration to do great things that comes from knowing that others have. It is motivating. That said, I've realized that many people nowadays don't know the difference between Pride and arrogance.

  • @FadingVitals

Failure to take pride in your heritage ensures that the values and worth of that culture are doomed. Which is not to say that those who do nothing except claim their ancestors deeds are worthwhile on their own merits.

Culture and values are lost because of those who either through ignorance, shame, or other selfish reasons allow others to dictate the worth and value of their lineage. This is why "liberalism" in-so-far as it preaches equality and assimilation is so dangerous!

  • @Haeresiarchonte well said brother

  • Góðar gamlar tíður :) > good old times :)

  • @sunimid tíðir*

  • @hjaansi hvat helvide tá

  • @sunimid hehe

  • I liked this song ,and will probably do the same for all others. Why? Think a second.

  • No racist at all, in fact it is wise to share what culture is made of; and that is what this video is trying to say, everyone can share it's culture in an "innocent" and "friendly" way (as this video). I'm not viking-related, in fact I'm Latin-american, and I love this song and it's emotiveness.

    Congratulations to Týr.

  • I LOVE TÝR!! I'm faroese my self and they rock!

  • J'adore! :)

  • viking rock kicks ass

  • Does anyone want an autographed cd with Týr?
