@kickingmule I'm sure Willie wouldn't mind. He's a cool guy. Anyways, I should have also mentioned that I enjoyed this version. Very good job by your friend Josh.
@blindtcjohnson Yes TC, Josh is very good. I'm so glad you sent me his sound. I really hope he or any other of your friends don't mind, if I prestent them this way.
@blindtcjohnson Are you sure thats only one guitar? cause it sounds like a double bass going at 2.25 and can the bass run like that still holding the treble. I am not a guitar player just want to know.
Hollywood needs to make a movie about this fine blues man! That way everyone young and old will know of his contribution to society! Long Live The One And Only, Mississippi John Hurt!!!!
Excellent cover of one of the great blues songs of all time by one of the true legends. I enjoy playing it, but not at your level. Thanks for the post.
Nicely played. A great, timeless song. Probably still be picked in another 80 years. Prefer John's voice, though this a pretty good version and the guitar pickin' sure is mighty fine! Hot Dawg! another fine find, Urban. Take it easy, but keep posting these gems.
The song is called Louis Collins. At least it's what Mississippi John Hurt called it and is perhaps the most wellknown. Might be called Angles Lay In Wait, I don't know !
The line is "Angels laid him away" (buried him). But it does sound a bit like "Lay in Wait"! This is an excellent cover of Louis Collins anyway. Thanks Urban.
Picture of Willie Nelson's guitar from 2:20-2:35.
