this tornado literally jumped over Lino Lakes (our house - off birch). we were in the basement and my mom was upstairs. she came down after she heard the "train" sound that so many people talk about. right after she got downstairs it started hailing those golf balls and we watched out the window until a big one hit the window and we were afraid the window would break. we were lucky, though, because the hail broke other people's windows. i felt terrible for the people over in hugo...
ya this is crazy , where i am at in Manitoba just west of the city i liv in there was a F5 tornado some say it was a F4 but it was a F5 cause the head people said it was a F5, when you get a min look up Tornado at Elie Manitoba , look it up on youtube tell me what you thing bro
@mazdaman1982 I know which one you're talking about. It was first rated an F4, but after surveying the damage some more, it was upgraded to F5. Especially at the point where it tossed that house and a GM van so easily. It was one of the most amazing looking tornadoes I have seen on video. Best ones I have filmed myself are the Jericho Texas and Wakita Oklahoma tornadoes. I still would like to see one like the Elie Manitoba tornado, but not hitting anyones house.
@Torn80cj ya lol its Tornado season already and we had lots already in the past month or 2 , yesterday around 5:30pm there was a Tornado that touched down just out side Carman Manitoba thats about 30 mins south west of winnipeg , i will try and see if some one posted some thing already ,but ya that F5 Tornado i was about 25 30 mins away i remember that, but just about a month ago we had this crazy system that came right across the city, i was at work locking up after a long
@Torn80cj day and it was a nice sunny day then there where these Black clouds and then it came over a bunch of us just watching and you could see the clouds just starting to twirl around but nuthing could land cause of all the houses and Buildings around the area then this big gust of Cold Air hit us then the rain nailed us that was nice but the wind was crazy thow almost blowed me over lol
I remember that day. I was working and the skies were green and clouds were rotating really fast. Channel 11 news came to my work, a gas station at the time in Blaine, MN. My neighborhood got hit too but not as bad. There was one house that was completely demolished about a block away, and my garage door was caved in from the wind. Luckily, no one was killed in Blaine.
I think you might live next to my mother in law.. Ruth Umber? I remember her telling us about this but I never thought i'd see something on youtube so close to her house.
i lived just at the west end of 159th, by the elementary school, where the tornado first came through. we were lucky not to get more than some window, shingle, and siding damage but our neighbors all around us lost their homes. plus the keg we had on our back porch was nearly 150 feet from the house and stuck nearly half way into the ground. lol
Oh my gosh! You guys are so lucky you didn't get hit! A few days after it happined we went though where it started. That is just so scary to know that you saw a tornado and that a little boy right across the marsh died. It's terrible.
@victor45662 Wow. Seriously?? Did you not see him talking to people? You act like it was a huge bloody scene or something. Dont be so rude! I would have been recording too!!
My parents lived about 4 blocks from that watertower...they just moved there a couple weeks ealier...the cops questioned my dad on if he lived in hugo before they would let him into the city
I used to live in Wyoming, Minnesota. It's just north of Forest Lake. That's like 20 minutes from Hugo. I also lived all around the Metro area. It seemed wherever I wasn't, there was always action happening. I did see a funnel once, though. I was heading to the Walgreens in Saint Louis Park in 2003, and there was a huge funnel to my northwest toward Plymouth. People were stopping and getting out of their cars to look. I always remember bad storms in Minnesota, especially at my aunts house in FL.
You dont think this kind of thing happens here...in minnesota we live in forest lake and we have driven by that area a zillion times hope aall is well with you all and hope the state comes through for you...
Yes, our lot in Hugo is for sale. We did not know of anywhere that would rent for 3 dogs and 3 cats where we could live until our home was rebuilt. We had built a home in Seattle, and knew that it would take a year. We had a place to stay, at my mother in law, but the dogs were getting sick with stress and not enough room to roam. So, a rebuild in Hugo was not possible unless we get rid of the pets. No way! We live in Scandia now, and are happy here, though of course miss Hugo. No choice!
Just me again. Looking for some good footage for my friend. My house is right at 5 seconds, where the man yells "is this your house", then at 34 seconds, 58 seconds, then close up of my house to 109 seconds. I was on 159th and my home was entirely destroyed. I was probably still in the basement when this video was taken. Yes, someone did get killed. I feel quite lucky that I was not killed as the tornado hit only about a minute after I ran to the basement. My horizontal trees made me run.
I'm sorry to see your not rebuilding your house. I think it was you I used to see in the backyard playin with your dogs. I may post a new video showing the rebuilding, it finally looks normal again
a little 2 year old boy did die during the Tornado when he was sucked from the home and found in a pond. His 5 year old sister was hurt really bad as well, and the parents were a little more lucky with their injuries. Very sad for the family
These 2 videos are amazing footage, I was home in Blaine, and then I went to my moms and picked her up and took her to Festival in Circle Pines cause she was scared. I think this tornado was hitting hugo when we were in the parking lot of Festival. Pretty sad. I saw the damage in person a few days later.
My House was hit by the hail shown in the second storm. We're about 6 blocks southeast of this neighborhood. In Hugo there were over 300 homes damaged. Thankfully more people were not hurt by this tornado. Scary stuff. Kids around here still are having nightmares about it.
I was in Andover chasing this beast at the time. I could see the circulation but not the tube itself cuz it was so wrapped in rain and scud. My buddy who was in Forest Lake at the same time said the hail was so intense on I35 that they had to stop. people were parked right in the middle of the highway. This is why it is so important to pay attention to weather reports especially when watches and warnings are posted.
i live in massachusetts and we get tornadoes only every once in a while (the very hilly geography sort of keeps them away), but just when you say "i knew this was gonna happen some day in our neighborhood" i'd just be so scared every storm. got friends out in minnesota...goin to see them in less than a week...and i'm sure as usual, there are going to be some big storms...this is like watching plane crashes the night before you fly on one.
My house is most claerly seen in 59 - 104 seconds. He focuses on my home during that time. My home is again seen at 109 seconds. Missing is Nathan Prindle's house, which I believe was somewhere behind the filmer. Nathan's house was no longer on it's foundation. He was thrown into a nearby pond and drown. His sister was also thrown into the pond but has survived after being in a coma. Our home was a total loss but I lived where others were not so fortunate. That's all I know or want to know. True
When the tornado happend i was outisde amd when it started to hail i was i the car .

It occured to me while I watched this that mere blocks away there were rescue workers trying to free people with this going on. That's bravery.
