got mine yesterday. really surprised me. i'm not really an ibanez guy ( i have an iceman). i own a taylor114. but i picked this thing up, played it and it really sounded great even unplugged! i was shocked! also own a Martin000CXE and this sounded more full unplugged .reason i bought it was for all the "onboard" stuff....if i need a bit of distortion or reverb or chorus....it's there....just enough! i'm excited to gig with this! my taylor and this will be traveling with the band!
Bought the MSC650VV on eBay, sight unseen, based on viewing the YouTube demo and reviews.....Very happy with my purchase. It's the only guitar that I have purchased without ever actually seeing one ! No complaints, great gigging guitar, lightweight, neck is thinner than acoustic guitars, action is low and light, great tone plugged in. Unplugged, of course, it sounds good, but not like my Taylor 710. Not as 'tinny' as an Ovation when unplugged. Buy this AND buy a Taylor acoustic !!!
@LostMusicalMeanings No it's a true hollow body guitar that has both a piezo pickup for acoustic guitar sounds and a magnetic pickup for traditional electric guitar sounds.
@The81Ghost You should probably use two amps. A traditional guitar amp for the electric side and an acoustic guitar amp or a PA system for the acoustic side. The guitar is set up with two output jacks to allow you to do this. FYI, Roland Cube amps have an acoustic guitar simulator built in to them so you could run one cable from the mixed output jack right to the Cube amp and switch between acoustic guitar simulator and typical amp sounds with the amp's footswitches. Good Luck.
@The81Ghost Someone else posted something about Ibanez discontinuing this guitar as of the end of 2010. I don't know if it's true or not but it's probably worth looking into. There seems to be some on the used market (that's where I got mine) and I would assume there are still a few new ones hanging around music stores if you decide to buy. I think it's a great guitar for what it does and what it costs. Good Luck. I hope you find one when and if you're ready.
@mikebri527 I see, what I like with acoustic guitars is when you hit a chord you get better intonation with even cheap acoustics. I bought this $1250 les paul studio and it's intonation is not as accurate as my yamaha acoustic guitar even u adjust it... anyways I will get an electric acoustic guitar one day when I have some money. If they discontinue this guitar it's ok. but thanks very much man! :)
it is just my personal opinion, but if you"re looking for an acoustic guitar, why should you buy this, when you can already get a nice solid top, real acoustic sounding guitar at this price range. something that sounds better than a wooden plate with strings.
i guess as the old saying goes... it works for everything = it works for nothing
I was always the fan of Fender and gibson, but i feel like that they are doing nothing new these days. I think that the pickup in this guitar is weak for distortion, but nobody wants to play heavy metal in this guitar
the robot and dark fire are both waste of money. learn how to tune a guitar, and buy an electric/acoustic hybrid. its that simple. gibs0on robo, and DF are very stupd, IMO.
I have been tuning guitars for 31 years - mostly by ear.. What makes you think that I "need to learn" ? The DF is 1 of 7 guitars I own.. And is a very nice axe..
Have you ever played one ? It's not my fav but it's a far cry from a piece of crap..
i never ment it directly to you dude. i was sayig in general, people should learn how to tune by tuner or ear before using automatic tuner. sorry you misunderstood my comment.
this guitarman is superb! i watched other demos here at you tube for this guitar, and i thought the guitar sucked, but in the hands of a GOOD player,i'm convinced this guitar would work for me! Larry is the MAN!
its pretty loud, but the montage is a guitar that should be plugged in, not unplugged, it would be a waste of money just to buy the guitar with out an acoustix amp. there are soo many effects that you can get with this guitar. buy it with AN AMP! Kustom Sienna i would suggest as a good acoustic amp.
well i have a question. like i never really plug my acoustic guitar in, but if i did i have a line 6 spider III. i also never really heard or even used an acoustic amp, would my line six be ok or do you really suggest an acoustic amp?
price rang, is that what you mean? its a 35 watt amp, with a 10 inch speaker, ita ohh, about 200-230 dollars, a xtreamly good pice for a great brand. i got mine for 209 dollars at my music store, because it was in the testing room (where you test out the guitars they have at the store) for about 3 weeks, so they took off about 30 or 50 bucks for me, plus they know my famliy pretty damn well.
get the amp, and the guitar, you wont be dissapointed. :)
IanKusekSoloArtist I totally agree !! The kustom sienna 35 amp is a great choice , I picked one up around two mths ago and I just played the Ibanez Montage at Guitar Ctr and that will be my next guitar ! I am so impressed with it !
yes you can, but an acoustic amp will give you more of an acoustic sound, thats all. buy the guitar, and a kustom sienna amp, thats a great combo. also check out the Ibanez SAGE, its just a normal dradnought acoustic steel string, but its really great too!
I have the Monatge, and it rocks. The next acoustic guitar i may(or would) get would be the Ibanez Exotic Wood. But the guitar rocks, def. get it. I have the Flamed Maple Red. Buy one now :)
well, the Koa body, they dont make anymore, cause its RARE, the flammed maple (red) goes for $600, and all the other spruce black, quilted maple orange burst, and cedar[SP] are over or UNDER 700, well worth it. I have the Red Flammed maple, and it rocks, alothough, i just bought a kustom sienna 35 amp, the amp is kinda hard to get used to, also the sound, im still experimenting, it ROCKS THO!
GET IT! GET THE RED! the pict online looks okay, but in real life, its looks 110% better!

Important Point and bad for me...
you need guitar amp extra or an amp simulator for the el. sounds.
The distortion sounds otherwise like sh.t
They could've put some EQ regulating for that (speaker-amp simulator) would've been perfect

it would be okay, but this is the differance between an electric gtr amp, and an acoustic gtr amp:
electric: gives you more of an electric guitar sound.
acoustic:gives you more of the guitar(s) pure, natural soun, more acousticey.
i highly suggest buying an acoustic amp for this guitar, it would kinda be alet down if you just bought the guitar, with out a good amp.
could i suggest a Kustom Sienna 35 watt amp.
its a great amp for te price. i use it ,and the guitar really rocks then!
