These are cashier cops. They pull over speeders, and then get crashed into... all so they can extort $200 from the citizens. Dont stop on the highway for any reason.
putting some of the very insulting and ignorant comments made towards the police officer by some very low level 'pond life' to one side, what most people do not know about this and which the tv video narrators don't tell you, is that the police officer instantly lost both his legs against the crash barrier. A very sudden and immediate life changing moment for soemone who is simply a human being who was trying to do a job
Well other drivers should be more humans, that cop could save their lives in the future. Sometimes here in Venezuela you see a car stopped on the edge of the road, a lonely road, you stop to help and the owner of the crashed car aims to you with a revolver and says: "gimme the keys of your car and everything that has high value", and then other guy gets outta the crashed car and takes yours, and the guy of the revolver takes the crashed car and runs out. Next time think twice before help strngrs

I hope no one was badly injured in this accident. The officers did set themselves up for the possibility of something happening. Police officers constantly do not give themselves enough room for safety. They will block an entire lane of traffic just to write a ticket. And there attitude is that they can do what they want. And no one should question there motives, I guess it is to hard to use good judgment when you have a badge. They are lucky that none of them died!

Cops should never stop on the side of a highway, freeway, expressway or busy street EVER. It's safer and more respectful to other commuters to take their issues OFF the road and escort their chargees to the next off-ramp or side street.

I don't think that guy came out of the white van, maybe someone stopped in front of the accident and came to help the officer. The people in the van were probably in critical damage already, they could not run out like that man after a hit like that.
It looks like it was the person in the white van that came to his aid. There are people on this planet that do care about others and I feel we should learn from this. These officers risk their lives to protect us and we should be supportive of them. I personally would risk my life to protect them if needed.
I can't believe how many people drove on after seeing what happened. I could never do that. I hope these officers are OK. I was glad to see that one good samaritan came to his aid at the end of the video. Bless you.
The crown is supposed to be able to handle a rear end crash at 70MPH so he was probably just shaken up, but then again he probably didnt have his seatbelt on

Shortly after the accident, you see a truck in the left lane, so there really wasn't all that much room to get left. Comes down to inattentiveness. Flashing lights distract attention from the road.
Thinking about this, I can see your point about inattention. That's one person that let their focus drift from the road in front of them and like you said probably instinctively veered toward what they were looking at. Maybe it takes something like that to make them take driving more seriously. We've all ridden with people who treat driving as a leisurely game instead of an important task that demands prudent conduct.
Dont worry about it! We have plenty of people waiting in line that want to be Cops! great pay, full pay retirement, dental, medical, 20 years and onward to another career working!

why police stops cars on highways? Police knows that this kind of accident happens all the time. It is simply not neccassary to stop people in this area. Escorting them to the next car park or using the next exit to get out of this dangerous area of the highway.

Looks like that white truck that was passing as it happened was stopping but with the picture quality I cant tell for sure, then the minivan did. As for anyone who didnt actualy see it happen, theres already one undamaged police car there and they probly didnt know that both cops were involved and needed help. After watchin it a few times I could count 2 cars that stopped and 2 more that looked like they were but I couldnt tell for sure. Still there were a lot that didnt.
If more pepole would pay attention to there driving and less to the cop on the side of the road this kinda thing would never happen! more cops die while on a routine traffic stop than anything else.
the cop that was standing didnt pull over the other cop, they probably have another car in front, what i can see from the video is that one of the cops was "state trooper" and the other one probably not, that was why he came over
its the subject that stoped on the bridge, the cop should have asked the subject to pull ahead off the bridge. I bet ya anything it was a female subject, plus the one who crashed into the cop

Looks like that white truck that was passing as it happened was stopping but with the picture quality I cant tell for sure, then the minivan did. As for anyone who didnt actualy see it happen, theres already one undamaged police car there and they probly didnt know that both cops were involved and needed help. But your right about most of the ones who actualy saw it, dont think I could just keep goin even if i wanted to

After watchin it a few times I could count 2 cars that stopped and 2 more that looked like they were but I couldnt tell for sure. Still there were a lot that didnt.

the cop that was standing didnt pull over the other cop, they probably have another car in front, what i can see from the video is that one of the cops was "state trooper" and the other one probably not, that was why he came over

The second cop was backup for the first cop which pulled the vehicle over. They were both state troopers. You can tell by the uniform.

its the subject that stoped on the bridge, the cop should have asked the subject to pull ahead off the bridge. I bet ya anything it was a female subject, plus the one who crashed into the cop

everybody was ok after this awful crash, the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel... I saw a documentary that showed this.. so, do not drive sleepy!!
