Earlyer post saying the Garden was not availibul is not true.The Wall needed to play at a certain shaped arena tha was a bowl without balconies ot fit the wall being built during the first half.The NY Islanders were in the play offs at the time of the concert "During one of the songs Waters sung from the livingroom that flipped down an Islanders away game played on the TV live.Thats when they were the the greatest dynasty in pro sport,but thats another story.

All I know is that when the guy comes out after the break with the distorted head saying "Goooood eeevening laaadies and gentilman" I was honestly not sure if it was real or the the second hit fully kicking in.Is there tape of the begening of the second half?

I was there its not the surrogate band,the surrogate band was used when the wall was built and one band was in front and one behind.

Not true. You ever watch the earls court video? The surrogate band freezes at the end of "In The Flesh?" Then the real band members come out and play the rest of the concert, with the surrigate supporting them without the masks on. Then the surrigate band puts the masks back on in "In The Flesh." and the real band plays with them.

I was there! My ticket was $30.00 dollars. I also saw the Wall again in Philadelphia in 2010 and it was Great! Missed David though...

@t69gto Face for tix was $15.00 (there was a cheaper level that was $12.50 or so). I never saw a $30.00 ticket until the Rolling Stones Steel Wheels tour.

Wow, never knew this footage existed. I too was at this very show. Didn't have tickets, went down the first night to try to scalp (this show was the 4th night)

Only one guy had a ticket to this show so I payed $60 for a $15 ticket and went home. Right after I left someone smashed a window right where I had been standing and a bunch of people got to run in for free. This is not Pink Floyd on this song, it is the "surrogate band" Didn't know it at the time. Just saw the show again at The Staples

I was there! Tomorrow I will be in Philadelphia to see them Again. 1st show out of 3. Sold out Performances. 30 years later! Floyd Rocks! I wish Gilmour would be there, but you can't have everything.

Ah, the good old days of concerts.. when fans used lighters to call for an encore instead of cell phone screens... when fans played with beach balls.. and when concert tickets were considered expensive at $20. The current Wall show is technologically way above what they did in 1980, but it would be much better if it was Roger, Dave, Nick, and Rick up there on stage.

In 2010, he uses a surrogate band entirely.  It was great, but as I've said before, I miss Pink Floyd.

Was one of fortunate few who got to witness this at one of the four spots on the globe it was done (2/24). Tickets were impossible to find, so we tried our luck with Aerosmith tickets we had and believe it or not, it worked! (damn all the new technology!) Still have the stub - crossed out Aerosmith and wrote Pink Floyd!

Every time I get my eye on it guys I cant stop wondering who the hell was recording this GREAT CONCERT!!??Couldn t he do better than this??I mean common,there are many recorded concerts earlier than the 80s and they look great!!

And the fact that there is no better than this dissapoints me so much!!

@elffish79 Are you kidding me? We're lucky to have this multi-camera shoot. It's well shot and edited. However, it's several generations off the master. Even the Earls show that Pink Floyd shot is less than perfect. The fact that several people managed to get in a humongous VCR and a camera is amazing. Security searched everyone. The reality is that most (if not all) video cameras were not advanced enough to capture this show.

The "surrogate" band never played without Pink Floyd playing. They supported the band. Roger Waters performed many pieces by himself in ports inside the wall that was already erected before the show. I was there the evening Waters threw the TV set off the port in the wall, and injured a few people in the audience below him. Waters had his back to the audience quite often during the show, and had some derogratory things to say about his back up singers just before they played Run Like Hell.

I saw The Wall on 2/8/80 in Los Angeles. Tickets were alloted by raffle in a set of four, and were $12.50 a piece. Pink Floyd was supported by the usual cast I had seen since Dark Side of the Moon. Gilmore and White would share leads the way they always had. There was an intense drug search at the door, where security had buckets of joints and pipes. I was lucky to get four joints in. My girlfriend was searched like I had never witnesses at a concert, and they found the hash on her.

In the December 2009 Issue of Mojo, Roger Waters revealed that he had 'discovered a whole load of new footage of The Wall shows' and that he was busy 'editing it'. He explained that he assumed the cameramen decided to shoot more than they were asked to as they had the cameras and 'nobody [seemed] bothered'. It is presumed that this footage is 35mm film

AWESOME SHOW! I sat at Floor 4, 4 - four rows back and four rows out of center! I paid 75.00 for a scalped ticket outside the gates of the colliseum and down the parkway off-ramp. This was my third night going there, trying to get a ticket for under $100, but on the 27th I was IN ! On a previous night, one of the large windows of the colliseum came crashing in, 50 feet from me. Police on horseback stopped a rush through the wall !

Man, roger put on such a great show with McAtmos and himself acting out of character. You might not think about it often but he is one hell of a entertainer. If only the BErlin Show was staged in a similair way :(

This is my show. Thursday night. They checked/searched you three different times in the parking lot,before you got to the door, with guards dressed like in the movie. Barrel fires.German sheppard dogs. Man they fucked with your mind and I was straight!!!!!!

Uou are absolutely correct! I remember when Floyd played 5 nights at the Nassau Mausoleum. The Garden wasn't available, so they settled with that shit hole of an arena for their "East Coast Tour" of The Wall. Yeah, I heard of people having their tickets checked 500 feet from the building. Newsday reported a group of people grabbed a police barricade and rammed the plate glass windows shouting "tear down The Wall!" to get in! Cops on horses trampled people rushing the window. Reality not fiction!
