.270 is my favorite rifle, I use it for everything from groundhogs to bear. I've put quite a few deer on the ground with it, it always gets the job done quick, no tracking. Recoil is very manageable, it doesn't bother me one bit. The only complaint I have about mine is that when you shoot it with a hot barrel it starts to spray the rounds and loses the pattern, which is true for almost every rifle. Cool video!!!

Z7, you are an idiot. i've shot a .308, '06, .300 win mag, 30/30, and 12ga 3 1/2 turkey loads and i own a .270. I can tell you that its not about the loads its the weight of the gun. The .308 i had kicked harder than everything mentioned above. Next would be the 12ga 3 1/2 turkey loads. then the 30/30, then the .300, and the '06 and .270 are almost identical. The lighter the gun the more recoil you feel. If you want to shoot a real gun get you a 12ga and put a 3 1/2 shell in it and be a real man

naaa you would be just fine the recoil is not bad at all. as long as you remember the key shooting elements. 1 hold it tight and snug into your shoulder 2 anticipate the recoil and 3 sqeeze the trigger dont jerk it. you will love that rifle :)

You want to squeeze the trigger slowly and smoothly so as the actual shot and recoil come as a surprise. I beleave it. shot one this fall at 40 yards and it left about a 5 inch exit wound. the deer jumped about 7 foot in the air and was dead when it hit the ground.

I think im going to go with a 270. I have had alot of people saying its a great round! My brother has a 300 Win Mang and I have uncles that have 30-06 so i think a 270 would be great just to have some change and a different round for all of us to use. Is their a small round for small game? Coyotes stuff like that? For stopping power my 12 gauge works great! lol the 270 would be more for distance plus i have my bow.... thanks for your help to!
They make 130 grain rounds for the 270 also. at 150yards they make a real mess out of woodchucks. Its a great varmit rifle. for small game i prefer somthing like the .223rem. or even a .22 magnum. This year im going to use the 270 for big game. i dont plan on putting my stand deep this year. i need the distance from the rifle. lol
Both the 270 and the 30-06 are great guns! In this video it looked like a sweet shot! Im still in the air my self about either a 270 or 30-06. The only reason I might go 06 is because you can shot a 220 gain. more range of grains.... what do you think?
We shoot 150 grains thru the 270 they have plenty of stoping power. bucks usualy drop on the spot with a well placed shot from that 270. If your looking for maximum stoping power i would go with the 30-06 but if you shoot alot of target also as wee do the 30-06 would put a beating on you after awhile. thanks and go with what make you feel most comfortable.

many people think the 270 is small and the 30 06 is huge.. well they are actually the same cartridge. the 270 has a smaller bullet but this just makes it faster and more on the spot.

Hi...im an south african ph..i also have a .270.. and no a 30-06 does not have a stronger punch.. the .270 is a great all rounder..i have also shot a rhino with it...its not recommended tho..

@nickatina40 Anybody will tell you the same thing shooting from a rest is 10 times more accurate than free stance. i shoot my .22 from the bench also. It has nothing to do what so ever with the caliber. its all about accuracy.

I think im going to go with a 270. I have had alot of people saying its a great round! My brother has a 300 Win Mang and I have uncles that have 30-06 so i think a 270 would be great just to have some change and a different round for all of us to use. Is their a small round for small game? Coyotes stuff like that? For stopping power my 12 gauge works great! lol the 270 would be more for distance plus i have my bow.... thanks for your help to!

They make 130 grain rounds for the 270 also. at 150yards they make a real mess out of woodchucks. Its a great varmit rifle. for small game i prefer somthing like the .223rem. or even a .22 magnum. This year im going to use the 270 for big game. i dont plan on putting my stand deep this year. i need the distance from the rifle. lol

Both the 270 and the 30-06 are great guns! In this video it looked like a sweet shot! Im still in the air my self about either a 270 or 30-06. The only reason I might go 06 is because you can shot a 220 gain. more range of grains.... what do you think?

We shoot 150 grains thru the 270 they have plenty of stoping power. bucks usualy drop on the spot with a well placed shot from that 270. If your looking for maximum stoping power i would go with the 30-06 but if you shoot alot of target also as wee do the 30-06 would put a beating on you after awhile. thanks and go with what make you feel most comfortable.

We've tested 150 grain and 130(120?) grains on deer.. there seems to bea slight differnce, but they both dropped. I prefer the Magnum though.

Hahaha number one it is my fathers rifle i never shot it before so no i did not know where the safety on that particular rifle was. Number two i took my courses when i was 12 years old and im 30 now. Number 3 i have shot just about evey gun outthere seeing as my whole family collects firearms. 30-06 everyone cries haha who cares.
