  • As far as I can tell it takes the photo as any photo during filming, incl. in RAW if that is selected, and it will make a slight pause (about 1 sec) on the video.

Auto-Focus is controlled by the AE-lock button under the dial in video-mode.

Manually focusing will make it a lot less noisy, but you may still hear it. When auto-focus in video-mode it will only do so till it lock then you have to press the button again and it's quite slow on auto-focus in LiveView-mode/Video-mode.

  • Hi!

It can take photos while recording.

There is no automatic auto-focus for video (you have to hold in a button to auto-focus) on the D500 and as you might have heard in the video the focus rings makes lots of noise while in use.

Can't say it's that much of a difference in 720P/1080P video except 720P being a bit more fluid in fast scenes due to the 30 fps instead of 20 fps in 1080P. I haven't used 1080P that much either so can't really tell.

  • Thanks, when you take some photos during the video is it in 15mp(jpeg+raw) ? and is it making something to the video ?

If I understand to focus during a video you can press a little bit on the trigger (like when you focus on a photo) but it makes some noise. The second method is to do it manually

with the dial on the lens and it doesn't make any noise. But When you autofocus with the trigger during a video can you follow something to focus on it (continuing autofocusing?) for an example a car ?
