  • This is not correct ecclesiastical pronunciation, because c before i and e is never read like ch, but like ts, and g is never read as in 'gem' but as in "go". I suppose it's more like italian Latin or however you may call it, but it's definitely not purely ecclesiastical. Also, not all the words are properly stressed. But I liked the tone in your voice. :)

Oh, and excuse me for my bad English. ;)

  • I think this is really awesome. Any chance that Father Paul will read the rest of the Bible?

  • Wow, this is wonderful. Thank you so much for your efforts. God bless all those who hear this.

  • This video thankfully uses the correct ECCLESIASTICAL pronunciation of Latin (since after all it is the Bible = church "ecclesiastical"!) This is what you would have heard Latin pronounced like by Medieval monks in Italy reading the Vulgate!

The other videos where (usually Americans) pronounce their Latin with a (bad) CLASSICAL pronunciation is just WRONG and grating to the ears!

  • @EJ160E

yes, i don't know WHY most of these american videos insist on using CLASSICAL pronunciation when reading the Vulgate! the vulgate was produced in the 5th century AD when the classical pronunciation of virgil, caesar, etc. was most likely long gone and had given way to the early medieval "vulgar" latin pronunciation (which eventually evolved into "ecclisiastical" Latin since the language survived as a living language in the Church longer.

  • The Vulgate Bible is an ecclesiastical work...therefore it should be read in the ecclesiastical Latin pronunciation.

Reading the Vulgate with a classical Latin pronunciation is like performing Shakespeare with a modern American or other foreign accent.

  • can you please put this in ENGLISH language ?

we don't know SPANISH and we like to know your teachings here .

thank you and GOD bless more , g. from dallas , texas !
