  • She did this at 7:00 AM , 7:00 AM !!!!! have you ever try singing at 7:00 AM ????

  • great song, probably should've recorded it with a camera instead of a potato.

  • Not to be a hater or troll or anything, but I think she's a little rusty.... Or maybe her monitors aren't really working well.... Whatever the reason, she's a little out of tune. Those first notes were a bit shaky. Despite this, she's still one of my top artists on my iPod.

  • มึงร้องสดได้เหี้ย มาก

  • This is one of the only artist that i know sound good even without the autotune. Real Shit

  • everything about this song is great except the lyrics.

  • @heyitshorse Yeah, I also think that sometimes her lyrics are a bit...meh. But the music more than makes up for it.

  • OMG....!!!!!! Merry Christmas Bitch...!

  • even with the crappy static and video quality...she still sounds good!

  • All the haters need to shut up >_>

    She's really good live.

  • That's really weak... Pity.

  • shes awesome

  • i think she sounds really good, but i liked her first songs better

  • calm down people, she's amazing in lives, just check. There's the bad quality sound of the capture. It's hearing Utada in live that made me love her.

  • Not a fan if her live.

  • she sings wierd on live !!! thumbs up if u agree......

  • Whenever I see a female singing a nice song, it always seems they are experiencing orgasms.

  • I think that she likes what she's been singing for the U.S. audience, because I doubt she'd be doing this if she didn't truly like it. But she does need to work on her voice live.

  • I'M A BIG FAN OF UTADA. But I wish she didn't have to resort to different things just to appeal western audiences. -__- I like her first Western album more though.

  • my idol!!!

  • i love her, she is lovely. she is my model singer. i want to be llike her !

  • american like sex and rock musics. Utada is totally not in their taste

  • @Traces1000 We Asians like the ones which are implicit but meaningful^^

  • @Traces1000 Thats where the money is at!

  • @Traces1000

You're Wrong. I love Utada's music. I am not obsessed with sex. I am a virgin. I'm American. She has millions of fans here in America. T__T shut up with your stupid stereotypes.

  • @RikiMonet its really true though, most people ive seen are focused with fakeness, all autotuned, and based on sex drugs and money. Its honestly not just a stereotype. The girls in my hometown would never pick this up, because its not "the american music" they want :( its a sad fact

  • @RikiMonet

Millions? not so she is much more popular in Japan then American. Her album selling with exodus proved it only about 55 thousands units were sold.

  • @Arriss3

-__- have you actually been in ammerica? Yeah a whole lot may not have been sold, but she's widley popular and that was just one album. She has others you know. And there is a thing called illegal downloading.

  • @RikiMonet

Precious under her old stage name cubic u did well on its re-release to the japanese but did not do so here, and her newest album sold even less than exodus. I live in the united states btw -_-' She isn't widely popular simple and clean and sanctuary are popular. . She has even said it herself that she doesn't really have an American fan base there is a reason why she has 3 more japanese albums. Stop acting like you go to every state and count how many fans she has -_-'

  • @Arriss3 Stop acting like I really care about your opinion What do you know?People know who she is, poeple like her, people love her music.I consider THOSE people fans. And maybe if it was possible to count up each and every one of her fans,IT WOULD BE MILLIONS. Maybe you just get enjoyment from seeking out random people and insulting every little thing they have to say.Quit bothering me when I'm only 13 and am obviously smart to point out your idiotic behaviour. Grow up.

  • @RikiMonet

Haha if you didn't care then you wouldn't have started to argue with me. Secondly you have already proven yourself wrong. You started off saying that she has millions of fans and then later say that she possibly could, admitting that you don't know. Good job! Go back to daycare before you exacerbate that stupidity you are attempting to displace on others.

  • @Arriss3

Do you really have nothing better to do tahn insult and argue with a 13 year old? You really are a dumbass.

  • @RikiMonet

haha yea, I'm totally the dumb one here.

  • @Arriss3

Obviously. I feel bad for your mother, for giving birth to such an ignorant, arrogant, foolish, twit. You are a waste of time and space, so I'm therfore ending this conversation. Have fun being the idiot, dimwitted, fool I know you are.

  • @RikiMonet

Oh gosh, your writing is atrocious. Kid, go back to school and pay a little more attention in English. You can attempt to insult me as much as you want, but you are the one who was proven wrong.

  • @Arriss3

At least I'm not an idiot who's arguing with a child. You really must be a dumbass.

  • @Arriss3

You may be older than me, and smarter than me.But you're obviously not any more mature. YOU'RE the idiot who's arguing with a child. At leadt I'm smart enough to realize that. At least I know how to act my age. Hopefully now, you realize what a twit you are.

  • Comment removed

  • @Arriss3

Yes, in fact it does. Arguing with me and trying to degrade everything I say Isn't going to do anything. Really, think about it. I'm trying to prove a point here. The point that you really aren't mature enough to grow up and be the bigger person and quit arguing with me. As for for insulting you, I was upset with the fact someone was demeaning what I had to say, and another thing; No smart human would argue with someone younger than them.

  • @RikiMonet

Yet I have done nothing that you accuse me of. You really can't even come up with an coherent argument. I did not demean anything you had said, only provide evidence to prove you wrong. You had lost one debate and in a sad attempt to gain some dignity back you are trying to one up me with judgmental claims giving no actually backing to your argument. You tell me to grow up? Kid you are the worst kind of troll.

  • @Arriss3

You obvioulsy don't get the point...

  • @Traces1000 STEREOTYPE

  • @Traces1000 Ouch. x_O

  • @Traces1000 WTF? Baka na koto iu mae ni atama tsukae ba iinjanai. Aho!!

  • @Traces1000 Ouch, that is sooooooo wrong, when you say huge stereotypes like that, you have to say something intelligent, you're so far of the truth.

Americans love shitty pop music on MTV and some are hypocrite fans of the asian culture, but every countries have a lot of hypocrites (not everybody of course). And some americans are intelligent, like in every country. That is a good stereotype

  • wow pants!

  • i love her sooo much >o<

  • the lyrics sound like something scribbled on a bathroom wall in a rundown bar. The support musicians all seem bored to death, just waiting for their paychecks. No wonder

  • I do love Utada (when she sings in her native language), but this sounds too Americanized and too r'n'bish. What's happened to her, for God's sake??

  • @UncleePaulie Her style has always been R&Bish lol. It just didn't sound as americanized. It sounded more mesmerizing then. Her style is actually becoming more of an experimental pop style now :o...

  • I know this was a long time ago, but I literally turned on the TV right as this started. I was totally like "OMFG" and was jumping off the walls.

  • People keep saying it was rude to have her perform at the end of the show. She performed twice that day. She did Come Back to Me and then this song at the end. I think it's great they she got to sing twice.

I don't think she was sick either. I saw her live in Japan, she sounded just like this. Even in Japanese. I like it though.

  • Love her so much!!

    Just like her!!

I wanna meet Utada in Taiwan !

    (Taipei is so beautiful !)

I wish I can see her on NHK紅白歌唱大賽…(wish Utada can see this comment…)

  • Having her perform at the end was rude, but look at it this way: The US music industry is the most competitive in the world. The fact one of Japan's most famous singer's work translated to this much American exposure is a big deal, especially since she has very little exposure.

  • INEVER SEEN THIS! WHY DIDNT U GET THE INTERVIEW PART?! WELL THIS IS OKAY TOO.... BUT I WANTED 2 SEE THE INTERVIEW!

  • HOLY SHIAT, I saw her on CBS! :D!!! Wait, so she lived in Japan and came to states?

  • @blahblahhai or she was born in New York... whichever you prefer

  • I don't care what people say,I think she's UHMAZING and she kicks ass live!

  • a complete butchery of Sakamoto's work. no artistic sensibility- ugh!

  • @mattbastardsen She was sick when she did this!

    Give her a break!

I wanna see how you sing at 5 or 6 am and being sick too!

  • @mattbastardsen Go listen to more of her songs! And she was sick that day!

    This is awesome to me~

  • I think she sounded fine. Geez, what is everyone talking about? That's a hard song to sing (trust me I've tried!). It's impossible for anyone to sound like the record, especially today WHEN EVERYONE USES AUTOTUNE. This woman used her own natural voice on a track she could've easily lip synced, so give her a break dangit.

  • She may need to work on her live singing, but I like that she actually sang live. So many singers just lip sync today, feel like a rip off for some reason.

  • cambridge79.You don't happen to know that she's sick at that moment do you?Go listen to her other songs!!

  • Lyrics: suck

    ruining a Sakamoto Classic: sucks.

    She singing: sucks.

in the end: what's this shit?

  • I think even if she doesnt sing amazingly well in english is already is the best i mean lets see, she speaks fluent japanses and english, she the is the best japanese singer, and she can see pretty well in english too(maybe not the bets or not as good as the otehr american singers she still can sing better than normal americans can).

  • well at least she tried singin!,.my baby ish still great..hope she will get better!...man wen she ish poplar 2 tat american, tat timin ish bad n she ish sick...so cant blame her...she still did a great job...rootin 4 u UTADA!!...=]

  • I hope she can better.

  • T..T......

  • .......

  • off tuned like a .....

    thats pretty embarrassing

  • I really don't like her new U.S. album... =/ I wish she would do more stuff in English like she does in japan.

  • @blueembers2 Yeah me too. I think its partly to do with the fact that its a lot harder to write a song that plots out a melody in english if you are choosy with your choice of words. japanese has even number of bowels to consonants so it lends itself better to that sort. I think that's why there are more english songs which tend to have more abstract melody driven by beat. It's easier that way.

  • i have to said. she suck! this song suck. im sorry. sing in japan only please!

  • @vangkevinvang You try singing sick, no good singer sounds good sick. I'd rather have her sound like this than lip syncing because she's sick.

  • is that true she is only good at singing japanese this girl?

  • @zz8w No thats not true.

She was sick that day and she still wanted to sing.

  • she didnt get nervouse she just had a cold that day but she wanted to sing it says it @ the website at the the gma part

  • that was probably a BAD day.. she was a little off in the beginning and at the chorus when she said "oooo- aaaaH!" this scares me, but she's still good. She has to continue practicing hard. I wish her luck.

  • she need singing live finer^^

  • she still fine as hell :D

  • mabye...she was nervous?? O_o

  • @takashi2000 What don't you sure them the myriad of amazing lives she has done over the years and skip the one where she had a sever case of tonsillitis?

Oh that's right because you are not a fan.

  • @digitaljunkie115 Who says I don't look at other lives? If I wasn't a fan I wouldn't be watching, not like it matters, being a fan isn't about kissing ass. She's my favourite singer, but that doesn't mean she's flawless. This live is a crappy one, 'nuff said.

  • @takashi2000 Dude she was sick, aleast she didn't lipsync!

Also, I'm not embarrassed she did pretty well to be sick and be singing at like 5 and 6 AM !

  • @nagisaFan1O1 I'd have rather her lipsync if she was THAT sick as you claim, because this was just a terrible move for her career. First of all, people in America watching this aren't gonna know she was sick, its a bad first impression. & second of all musical artists sing at odd hours ALL THE TIME, so to me thats not an excuse. I dont know why you're arguing anyway since Utada is my favourite singer you dont have anything to prove. I just dont like this particular performance.

  • @takashi2000 Rght Takashi, i for one didn't know her, din't know she was sick and had only this one example to judge. When you're young you don't yet know your own limitations, and you will press on - which is why young people can achieve both greatness and sometimes failure

  • I still love her

  • joke when she sings ah ah (hahahaha)

  • when will she bring out something new T___T

  • wtf rlly low quality dude!!?

  • @savonnaproductions well it is on the TV and he used a camera lol

  • dear god...

  • I hope she performs this when I go see her in concert in February!

  • que idiota el tio

    para gravar

  • enough already!

  • Well, you know she sing and not lip sync.

  • @HeartlessMaker That's true, at least we can say that. but some people need to.

  • I love the album, but personally I think she sounds terible live. I'm sorry.

  • I have to agree with you. I think she needs to work on singing live more.

  • I think it's the quality. Yeah, some flaws of her singing is apparent even with the quality.

  • I'm not a fan of the lyrics at all, but the idea of taking that "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence" song and turning it into a hip hop beat was genius. Her voice is so mesmerizing too, so I just try not to listen to what she's saying X-x

  • hikki didnt change. hikki is hikki, she likes what she does.

  • her songs are much better when watching her.

  • hikki is so different now...she changed a lot, and this make me sad =(

  • ทำไมร้องสดเสียงเป็นงี้ได้เนี่ยะคะ

  • You suck ass. This is a great song and so is easy breezy , you have no idea what you're talking about, please shut up.

  • wtfff

  • I love her music and she's beautiful, but she has to just on stage by herself and sing, rather than these goofy looking guys pretending to play the guitar and drums. It might work in Japan, but looks silly here. She needs more cool looking guys in her band and have them really play.

  • I love Utada! I really like this song but the lyrics are funny. :D

  • bad quality but verry good artiste

  • You've got to be kidding.. What a piece of shit song.. A disgrace to Mr Sakamoto and the original piece. Wtf are these lyrics; stupid, to say the least.

    最低

  • the song isn't bad or stupid it is just hard to under stand the context of the song. it seems a bit disjointed but it is is an okay song. crapy live performance though.

  • Yeah This song is great.

But the Original is just Amazing.

I think the crappy performance was because they had her drink coffee before she preformed.

  • o.o Do you even have a life? Are you going to all her videos and saying that? -.- Geez.

  • "Do you even have a life?"はお前だろ

    こんなくだらねー曲作った奴はやっぱりファンもくだらねーな

You just wish you understood what I'm saying, haha. まーせいぜい頑張れ

  • its called google translate. OOH SO HARD TO TELL

  • LOL yeAHH!

  • 日本人wannabe

    こっちから願い下げだけど

  • the reason they made her sing at the very end, rolled the credits on her, and cut her off is because the previous segments of the show obviously went a little long. Also its not like she is an A list singer in america as of yet. If she was they would have MADE time for her. I like her but right now she is like a B list singer at best. she was a little treat at the end of the show not the grand finally. Maybe in little while she will gain more fame and improve her English lyric writing a bit.

  • you do agree that her lyrics have improved since Exodus, though, right?

i love this song to bits, but for some reason i'm not digging this live...*shrugs*

  • a million times yes i agree they improved since exodus. i steal cant belive she actualy refrenced edgar alen poe in that song. What was she strait out of high school? =). i also like a lot of her newer stuf but i steal dont get the references in come back to me and mery cristmas mr lawrence. maybe if i knew the context of the lyrics?

  • "kremlin dusk" was definitely weird...but the most awesomely bad lyrics of Exodus came from "easy breezy":

"you're easy breezy, and i'm japanesy" "she's got a new microphone"

(not to say i didn't like Exodus..."animato" and "you make me want to be a man" were great songs)

"come back to me" is supposedly based on a true story (but don't quote me on that). as for "fyi," you probably know as much as i do. lol

  • I liked easy. the lyrics were not great but they were better than older ones. krimlin dusk was just owful lyricly. how old was she. it seems like she was strait out of high school seeing as how she was able to remember Edgar alen Poe's Lost Lonor, and reference it in a song.

I also like FYI and Dirty Desiers. they are refreshing

how many japanese songs are about being in love or falling out of love.

how many japanese videos take place in a middle school with them wereing school uniforms.

  • She has been a fan of Poe since she was a little girl and he's one of the greatest authors in the world. The name of the poem is The Raven not Lost Lonor maybe you should read it before you start knocking an artist for referencing a classic piece of literature. Also I don't think Poe is required reading for HS students. Not to mention it's "awful" not "owful". You should stay in school and stop posting your poorly thought out opinions on here because you are only embarrassing yourself.

  • @DigitalJunkie0 Ahhh, so amazingly said. I love Poe. <3 Bought a collective of his works recently. It's wonderful. Makes my christmas special.

  • Kremlin dusk is a fcking amazing song,

  • Showing credits then they cut her off! What an insult. Utada should buy every one that is responsible for this show & sell them as slaves.

  • It was retarded that they let her performed at the end of the show...

Utada is epic and better than all the other dumb singers...

  • @nanfran2011 i was so upset they rolled credits on her like that. i wonder if she watched this and if she did i wonder what she thought.

  • @MrjrockX Amen..i was like some people are so rude and stupid and have no respect for true/good music nowadays...shame...

  • @nanfran2011 This shows how much american industry cares about their slutty singers more than real talented like Utada..

  • @nanfran2011 i khow right... would you make michael jackson perform billie jean with the credits running?

  • @nanfran2011 save the best fo last nigga

  • OMEGEE... i missed it ^_^

  • god i missed it damn school

  • She is one of the best of Asian's singer........

I'm not japanese but you are the pride of asia

  • @MissHorapa if irc she was born in the US

  • i love this song!

  • i got to see her perform this in the studio and got a pic with her <3 utada

  • How lucky you are !

    I envy you.

  • can't wait for a DVD of this album to come out.

  • lol he went so fast to get the camera unless he got it next to him w8ing for utada.... unless he got it on camera a free concert ticket lol recording it live..

  • i love this song,

    and her hairstyle :D

  • Nice

  • I missed it! D':

  • this is my fav song on the album! =)

  • I love you Hikki-chan!

  • I <3 U Hikki.

  • i missed this!?>

  • whats with her and early showss?? x]

  • Japan and Jetlag? :D

  • what channel was this on

  • I got to see her perform fyi in the studio!!!!

  • Aw I missed this? :(

  • I think she will do a lot better if the background music is louder.

  • i agree with you

  • what FYI stands for?

  • for your information

  • i do agree tht u Japanese songs r ODeee good nd i did think dis album was gonna suck but its madd good!! i was shocked i liked alot of the songz just like i luv her Japanese songz as well she rox ass nd idc if she makes it in the U.S or not cuz she will alwayz be my fave

  • Yeah, but I think she was sorta phased after her Exodus album got very little attention over here because it was too "experimental". Hopefully if she does get noticed now, we'll see more of the Utada that we know. Ya know, we need more Heart Stations and such on the radio.

  • bought her CD and it is REALLY GOOD!!! buy it

  • This isn't right. Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence should not be chucked around like this.

  • she seems to be tired.. i don't like it very much..
