  • The evolutionists today would have trouble with a scientist like Newton who belived the Bible. Scientists who belive the Bible and have knowledge of the theory of evolution is a nightmare for evolutionists, but evolutionists have no problem with those in the Bible Belt ignorant of both the Bible and evolution like those in this movie.

  • Devilution is Hollywood Hooey!!! Who started that fire that killed for mother, Bambi? EVOLUTION??!?! I rest my case.

  • Ah, this is my favorite scene from my favorite movie. I could see it a thousand times and not tire of it.

  • Brilliant. So many actors could learn from the intensity of Tracy and March in this scene alone.

  • I actually read this play for English class sophomore year, and I'm surprised at the number of people that see this play as being a debate of evolution vs. creationism, which may be true of the Scopes trial it was based on. Drummond emphasizes that Cates was on trial because he was thinking for himself, that which the play conveys is a fundamental human right and that which no human on this planet should be arrested and imprisoned for.

  • I love the character of Hornbeck in this. I hope I get to play him in a revival of the play sometime in the future.

  • I believe the universe began when a giant cosmic cat hocked up a hairball

Now where's my millions of dollars to force kids to study my "theory?"

  • @ysbaddaden2003 If you have any evidence to support you claim, then it is a theory. I presume you do not.

The evidence as the the origin of the universe is circumstantial, but nevertheless revealing. Is it concrete? No. However it is far more satisfying than the over-used "God did it".

  • ":)" theology is not science

  • Someone got owned XD

  • The greatness of Spencer Tracy's performance defies description. He slashes through the illogic of the creationist view of the universe and reduces the witness to a babbling idiot.

  • God is evident in the sophistication of systems, as when you see an iphone you assume a designer so be existence. Evolution is supported and probable and might very well be true, however it does not disprove the existence of a supreme intelligence, it rather supports it.

  • @foreveraskater How "sophsticated" is a system that will eventually lead to the demise of planet Earth? Eventually our planet will suffer great peril through 1. another asteroid hit 2. the flaming out of our sun or 3. the eruption of supervolcanoes. Now exactly how do these perils fit within the paradigm of supernatural "sophistication" or "inteliigence"? Stars, galaxies, and planets are constantly being destroyed throughout the universe.

  • EVOLUTION IS FACT, A THEORY (learn science terms)

  • The creationists were acting the same then as they do now...

  • @MegaBukaki

Yup. But there's one key difference. The creationists at the time of the Scopes trial were sincere - they were faithful Christians & pretty ignorant of science. What we all learned at the Dover trial (the Scopes trial of today) is that today's creationists, who masquerade under the misnomer of "Intelligent Design," are trying to put one over on us. The entire enterprise is a sham.

  • "Debating creationists on the topic of evolution is rather like trying to play chess with a pigeon — it knocks the pieces over, craps on the board, and flies back to its flock to claim victory." -Scott D. Weitzenhoffer

  • "I am a man, not a sponge."

    Love. It.

  • People think that just because Dawkins is the loudest scholar that he is our leader. The whole point of being an atheist is that I follow no man cept me. I don't care what he says, he is not me, he is falable just like everyone else. You deny him yet you revear him, treating him like some sort of polar prophet. Science works like an ant hill where each individual adds to a collective to futher us all so why depersonalise it? I say fuck Dawkins can any religeous person say that about their "god"?

  • Darwin's theory may have much farther reaching implications than he himself ever dreamed of. Google "Quantum Darwinism". This theory has recently been further validated.

  • @freethinker923

Quantum Darwinism is very clever and would work if the quantum universe worked the same as classical mechanics.

Gravity was rejected because it sounded like the occult

now the workings of a universe outside of classical laws is assumed to scare away the flying spaghetti monster.

science is becoming a doctrine to prove that God does not exist instead of finding out how the mechanism works.

atheists are becoming that they seek to destroy.

  • the metaphor of Inherit the wind is a warning about self delusion.

  • "I am a man, not a sponge."

  • One of my most favourite movies ! They don't make 'em like that anymore !

  • hahahahahaha... i should see the full story of this film.

  • watch from 6:10 and while watching it replace the words God with Natural selection and Brady with Dawkins.

its sad that the same scientific education that freed us from biblical fanaticism is used by evangelical atheism to fuel yet another fanatical religion.

  • @AfterFauve001 "Natural selection speaks to Dawkins"? ...I don't get it.

Anyway, despite accusations from Christians, nobody reveres Dawkins as a prophet. What is your main objection to what he does?

  • @TheGreaterSatan

anyway despite me not being a Christian.

He's another religious fanatic - I've heard him describe natural selection as a divine being that only talks to him.

his lectures sound like a church service,

I've heard him rewrite natural history just to win an argument. I would post the links to the vids if his followers did not have them removed.

no one organization holds the exclusive rights on fanaticism.

  • @TheGreaterSatan He has no objection to Dawkins, he's merely pointing out that militant atheism is just as dangerous as militant theism. To quote Brady in this film, "every man is a free agent". That being the case, its unethical for either the religious or anti-religious to be seeking war with the other or seeking the other's destruction so that their ideology may benefit. This, ladies and gentleman, is why I'm a Unitarian Universalist; it leaves room open for everyone and eliminates bigotry.

  • @NorthwestResistance Militant Atheism? as bad as terrorists and jihadists? are you high? that's unbeleivably ridiculous. I'm going to murder you in the name of no god what so ever... yer that happens.

  • @AfterFauve001 Do all you idiot evolutionists all think you're dime-store philosophers who never have to give a straight answer to any question -- ever? I'll ask it again: "What the fuck does "evolution" have to do with science?" Do you have an answer? Or are you just full of shit? (That's a rhetorical question -- I know you're full of shit.) Can you give me an answer, moron? (Or are you going to continue to fart out of your ass?) Fake it if you must

  • @camaroontree .Hey cupcake. Evolution is the explanation of how life came to be as it is today. It dos NOT explain the origins of life (just to be clear) nor does it explain the Big Bang. (Another area of science) It has been time and time again proved to be correct and it has indeed proved that we all share a common ancestry with primates and other species. Evolution is NOT a philosophy, It is a scientific discipline. i suggest you read up on it

  • @philster61 Lady- you are way too easily convinced. (Too bad there's no

"evolutionary skeptics who question the tenets of *their* faith.)

Science should be a little more "directed" than saying the magic

word "common ancestor" and then expect people to say "Oh, now I get

it." They're interesting animals. How is it - you suppose - they

support the concept of evolution? Smell the Dogma? Its a mile high:-)

  • @camaroontree Evolutionists tend to use evidence rather than faith. And Science uses "common ancestor" as the simplest way to describe what Creationists so frequently misunderstand.

  • @philster61 Ahhh I love the smell of religious dogma there reverence toe. This is evolution and natural selection at work, your hands are typing faster than your pin-sized brain*.

  • @camaroontree . Funny how a recent survey found that those of higher intellect tended to be less deistic. And those of lesser intelligence were more likely to believe in a deity.

  • @philster61 Talking to me or a strawman?IQ is mostly a function of schooling and GDP. The wealthier nations have a higher IQ level. So, the main factor is not religious belief, but wealth:

  • @camaroontree. IQ is most likely a result of genetics. However when a society instills a system of proper education about the natural world and sciences instead of ancient superstitious beliefs then of course that society is going to have more intelligent people than the society that doesn't.

  • @philster61 Translation: I have no evidence so I'll throw as many Red Herrings out as possible and hope no one will notice my dogmatic statements. Preach on Brother ToE Preach on!!!

  • @philster61 Evos came to a faith- based conclusion about the creation of life. They concluded that something naturalistic had to happen. Even though they have no idea what it was -- it just "had to happen". They had absolutely no evidence for this conclusion. That's faith, not science. So what the hell makes evolutionists so sure birds evolved from dinosaurs (other than faith)?

  • @camaroontree Evos came to an Evidence based conclusion. Where on earth do you get the idea that its faith based? You appear to be scientifically ignorant. You creationists should not try to explain things you have no understanding of.

  • creationist owend.

  • "An idea is a greater monument than a cathedral. And the advance of man's knowledge is a greater miracle than all the sticks turned to snakes thru the parting of the waters."

As true then as it is now.

  • Now about the video...

We might do this play in Drama next year. I'm pretty excited, it's great. I just hope that creationists don't misunderstand it and misinterpret it, even though they seem to do that to EVERYTHING.

  • I love it

    thanks for posting

  • I've just realised that the Judge is Col Potter from MASH.

  • @farnium It is isn't it. I never noticed until now.

  • i fucking LOVE this scene! i don't know how many times i've watched it, but it never gets old!

  • Every kingdom that had divided inside it self, would not stand fore ever. Bible is the holly book that had passed through so many generations...it is been written by Lord not individually but through his disciples. God didn't come talked to Charles Darwin about evolution because it will disprove everything that Bible says. God almighty can not lie to us, because He loves us as His children.

  • @MrCentry its good to know that i am smarter than the 80% of Americans, who actually beleive this fairytale horseshit

  • @MrCentry

    You are funny.

  • @MrCentry

can't lie? debatable. but he frequently sends agents to lie on his behalf in the bible.

  • Bradys lawyer sucks

  • I know this is a highly debated topic and I don't plan on contributing to the ongoing debate on this video. What I would like to say is that regardless of the subject matter, Spencer Tracy, as an actor, is amazing in this clip.

  • I sing about Tracy and others in The Celebrity Song.

  • great stuff

  • An excellent film; four stars.

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV Hovind?!? No wonder you are fucked up.

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV Read the description. This is why people laugh at creationists: a lack of basic research.

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV If by read you mean "read & selectively quoted," then yes, both Bryan and Hovind have both "read," Origins.

  • « "Kent Hovind Tribute" »

    You're kidding, right?

  • @dougmoerhoffman Yeah, obviously letting religious leaders do our thinking and fear-mongering for us is the only way to live.

  • @TheGreaterSatan At least, I think that's what they want us to think that God wants us to think.

  • @TheCb1010 Pascals wager? Ok. What about all the other religions? You fail to take into consideration the hundreds of other religions out there. What if you're wrong about zeus? or thor?

  • @TheCb1010 Pascal's Wager shows that there is just as much of a chance of atheists having their own private heaven as there is for Christians (or any other religion) having their own private heaven. Think of it as the "Atheist's wager"

And if you really want to convert atheists, avoid using Bible quotes. It just ticks us off.

  • pascal's wager assumes that christianity is the only religion in existance. maybe YOU should consider it from the perspective of a different religion.

what if YOU are wrong & the muslims, jews or hindus etc are right?

pascal's wager fails on EVERY level.

do you believe in appolo, anubis, zeus, allah, krishna, shiva, haties etc? of course you don't.

an atheist takes it one step further & dosn't believe in yaweh either.

pascal's wager isn't relevant to anything...

  • @TheCb1010 A fool in his heart says that calling someone a fool will make them change their mind.

  • @TheCb1010 whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. Matthew 5:22

  • @TheCb1010 thats stupid. you're basically saying "what do i have to lose if i'm wrong?" your opinion, free will, money and possibly your life to religion?

  • @TheCb1010 Pascal's wager is a philosophy of cowards. The only life to live where there is nothing to be lost is one of open-minded consideration and thought. That is certainly not one of the greatest values of religious culture. Why should we believe there is a Heaven, just in case. If God is as religions proclaim, why would he punish me merely for not having faith. Wouldn't being a decent person, despite a lack of divine incentive, be more substantial and sincere than faith 'just in case'?

  • @TheCb1010 Pascal's Wager is the stupid. If you were just pretending to believe in God so that you wouldn't go to hell (assuming those two things exist), wouldn't an all-knowing God know that you were just faking it and throw you into hell anyway? And furthermore, wouldn't he know whether you would turn out to be a believer or not even before birth? And if so, why would he allow an atheist to be born if he's going to have to damn him to hell later? Isn't God supposed to love us?

  • @fdssg

Stop using logic! It makes their heads hurt.

  • @TheCb1010

Ye consider Pascal's wager... What if there is a god that likes atheists more than theists, and rewards atheists instead of theists? Did that ever cross your mind? Also Pascal's wager is same as lying to yourself, if you don't really beleave in god. I rather be honest to myself.

  • @dougmoerhoffman

you said it fails...can you explain why?

  • That speech is about 5000 years late!

  • - falsely portraying the Darwinists in a positive light & Christians as deceitful.

In real life, Bryan & the Christians won the trial & were charitable to the end, while Darwinists Darrow was deceitful in reneging on his deal to take the witness stand after Bryan did.

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV

Shut up. You missed the point entirely. This was not meant to be histroically accurate to that trial. It was to prove a point to Christians to try thinking a little and be accpeting of new ideas.

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV "falsely portraying the Darwinists in a positive light & Christians as deceitful" oh creationists/id people do a fine job of that all by themselves. look at the judge for the Dover trials final statement. they are liars, they continually lie to get their message across, because they think if they don't lie and misinform people, we will all become atheists and fall into moral decay. they are not interested in truth, they are deceitful.

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV if you think evolution is wrong SHOW SOME EVIDENCE if you think creationism is true than SHOW SOME EVIDENCE or stop spreading your ignorance

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV "portraying Bryan as being ignorant, harsh, & punitive" what would YOU call a young earth creationist besides ignorant? they are the epitome of ignorance.

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV

How can it smear Christianity? The Christians proved the point of this film just baste on how they reacted to it. In fact even today, this movie in some states has been banned. I just love how you people talk about free rights for every one and how much good piece is and then next thing you know when a person who thinks other wise expresses their opinion they are to be tormented and in some cases beat up.

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV

Dude shut the hell up. My god YOU yourself are smearing Christianity just by commenting over and over again with the same stupid comments in which we all know are not true and because of this YOU yourself are making Christianity look bad. Don't blame the video, because you're doing nothing but making its point stronger.

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV You've been making the same idiotic comments on this video for almost a year now, and they've been refuted every time. If you really want to improve the image of the fundamentalist christian, get a life already.

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV

*sigh*, this movie/play wasn't even about the Scopes trial in reality. It wasn't supposed to be historically accurate, just like how the Crucible was obviously not an accurate telling of the Salem With Trials.

And like the Crucible, this is supposed to be a parable about Joseph McCarthy.

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV

Also, in reality, McCarthy had that fit of madness.

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV Please take your ideals elsewhere. You, sir, must abandon your blind faith in pleasant poetry and raise your eyes and open your ears to hear the wonderful and logical arguments against you. Who knows, maybe you'll learn something.

  • "Falsehood maliciousness, and slander is not how we get along"

Yeah tell that to the billions of people who have been the subject of christian maliciousness, falsehood and slander!!!

  • The play "Inherit the Wind" and all the movies based on it are dramatizations of real events. The trial was real and the Butler Act was real, but the play and movies are simply emphasizing the importance of the events. They're made to get the point across in a powerful manner.

I also doubt most people posting here have actually read On the Origin of Species. Please go do so before posting here. I might also recommend reading On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres and The Principia.

  • Don't let Hollywood fool you gullible folks.

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV Yeah, you're dead right! Lets leave it to the greatest champion of lies and false promises; religion, to fool them instead eh? Can't have Hollywood muscling in on the snake-oil racketeering now can we :)

  • Fun Fact: The Chicken & the Egg

If you believe the chicken came first your view is more of creationism

If you believe the Egg came first your view is more of evolutionism

    *not to be taken seriously*

  • Well, Evolution is a theory, but with all the evidence for it, you'd have to be pretty silly to deny it

    @sethbowers123

The point was that there was no definitive time scale for the "days" of creation, instead of thinking of "day" as we do now, think about what it could have been back then

The word "day" could be seen as referencing a saga of sorts, each new "day" presented a new phase of creation, but there wasn't a set time for how long each "day"

  • who said faith doesn't involve thinking? They are shouting on empty premise... in my experience, the greatest, mind stirring, soul tempting, reasonability-urging thinking is a thinking that I do to build, strengthen, modify, and use my faith!!!

  • if each day of creation would have been 10,000,000 years, adam would have been over 60,000,000 years old before he had cain or abel

  • @sethbowers123 Unless the Bible has it wrong.

  • Cite your source about this alleged recantation.

  • were is your proof that he took everything back and even if he did it dosnt change the fact that his theories were proven true

  • No, boy. You're mistaken. Accepting Evolution doesn't involve taking a leader's word for it. It requires knowledge and understanding.

To be a creationist you don't need to know or understand much.

A baby can be a creationist as soon as learns to say "goddidit".

  • I love how you make up bald-faced lies about dead people.

Please stop talking now. You're just embarrassing yourself.

  • @sethbowers123

bullshit! but please remain in darkness. oh and dont use anything reason brought to us and not the bible. basically everything!

  • Abe Lincoln and Charles Darwin were born on the very same day. One set free the physically enslaved while the other set free the mentally enslaved. 80% of the scientific world recognized evolution as the true history of life on earth within only 20 years from the time Darwin laid it all out. Most influential book in history.

"All truth passes through three stages. First it is ridiculed, Second it is violently opposed. Third it is accepted as self-evident." -- Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860)

  • @LayTheGroundWork Nice to know....

  • Scopes never taught evolution. The amazing truth about the trial is related in Chapter 3 of Eugene Windchy's book The End of Darwinism.

  • If life is so complex that it requires God to create it instead of evolution, then who created God? Cerntainly, God is more complex than Life. After all, God is suppose to have the knowledge to create life and the powers make it happen.

  • I love this!! Creationists never listen to reason, nor do they argue with proof.

  • "...Falsehood maliciousness, and slander"

You said it was fiction. The movie's writer intentionally avoided factual comparisons w/ Scopes. Actual testimony was not used. The movie is fiction.

How can u slander a fictional character? I think Darth Vadar was much kinder than how his character came across onscreen. Lawsuit.

  • Nevermind. People (including myself) have repeatedly tried to explain to this Eye2Eye guy why he's wrong, but he seems very invested in reaffirming the idea that creationists never listen.

  • @myralangerhas Actually, I have read the transcript of the trial. Much of the court room testimony in the play was taking directly from the trial transcript. This is particularly true of of Darrow's examination of Bryan.

  • Comment removed

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV

    "This movie is fiction... "

How did you figure that out? Was it bc the characters never existed? Bc the town doesn't exist? What led you to believe that this movie which was never proclaimed to be non-fiction, was, fiction?

Did God proclaim that you oppose this movie?

  • Haha. You think people will blame this movie for why creationists aren't taken seriously? You sure it's not going to be because of bigoted cons like Kent Hovind who don't know the difference between evolution theory and big bang theory? And Kent Hovind isn't even a fictional character, so you should be more angry at him than you are about this movie.

  • @TheGreaterSatan Yeah, but Kent found his reality - in prison, for not paying his taxes. Sometimes reality's a real bitch.

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV

    Yes, this movie IS fiction.

It is based upon a fictional novel called "Inherit the....

No wait, it's based on a fictional book called "the bible."

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV yes this movie is the only reason why people think creationists are dumb.....idiot...

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV lol i think they call creationism stupid because you stupid people claim it as fact and that evolution is a lie without even one single piece of evidence to support your veiws

  • Thats a good point about days.

How long was a day compared to today. Were these days uniform in length or were they more like era's of certain times and phases of the history of our planet.

  • As we all know, this film is NOT correct according to history. But, the arguments that are put forward are still valid. There is a reason why Darwinian evolution won in the courtroom that day. There is a reason why creationisms must never be allowed to enter any classroom. And the reasoning behind it is building up every day, in labs all over the world . Science is the only thing that makes us truly better than animals. without it, we would still be digging with sticks.

  • "Better than animals" is incorrect for one and even if it was not it is still only a matter of perspective.

Humans are animals so we can't really be better than them now can we? So that is why that part si wrong. Then gorillas are stronger than we are so are they better than us? In strength yes, in size yes but in intellect no. It's all relative.

  • intellect solves more problems than strength or any other merit that an animal has in greater abundance than we do. we're actually better.

  • We are the dominant species on this planet, that simply makes us better. our superior intellect has brought us to the top of the totem pole.

  • We do have the superior intellect but sometimes we don't act any better than animals. It still doesn't seem to stop us from trying to kill and hurt one another. And we should certainly not let this feeling of superiority go to our heads, because at this very moment, we have the capacity to destroy the Earth nearly six times over and to eradicate nearly all complex life on this planet. All that has taken billions of years to form can be wiped out in a matter of weeks, if humans so choose.

  • @Stargazer88 dominant species by what metric? we aren't the most numerous, our species isn't the oldest design...

  • The problem is that the word "better" is useless without standards. The standards are ours, intelligence has allowed us to survive, so we look down on creatures of lesser intelligence, even though they are by no means less survivable, even though they will outlast us by countless thousands of years.

  • Dude, can't you guys just stop fighting? Creationism and Evolution isn't mutually exclusive, both ideas could co-exist with each other, regardless of whose right and whose wrong. What on Earth has gone into you people?!

  • Actually creationism and evolution are mutually exclusive, in almost every way.

  • They do not neccesarily need to end up trying to kill each other. Dude, you guys, i'll say, stop it!

  • Creationism and evolution cannot work together and they are mutually exclusive. You really do not understadn them if you do not get that basic fact. The earth cannot be flat and round, humans cannot be made in God's image yet have evolved, the world cannot be billions of years old and merely 6000 years old. One is right one is wrong.

    Religion is bull shit.

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV Why don't you read the description of this video. If you had simply done that, your long and uninteresting posts could have been avoided.

  • Everything isn't trustworthy.

Stereotypes have been spun into stories from both sides. I'm sure you've heard of a professor and a piece of chalk.

And it's Hollywood. A courtroom drama. It was made to be dramatic and to make money.

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV uhhhhh NO you have nothing to backup your extremists position

  • stupid fuck.

  • @Eye2EyeIIIV like the bible fiction

  • The Play: Darrow questions Bryan on the topic of sex:

DARROW: You're up here as an expert on the Bible. What's the Biblical evaluation of sex?

BRYAN: 'It is considered Original Sin.'

The Facts: Nothing was discussed about sex in the trial. Nor does the Bible teach that the original sin was sexual in nature.

  • C'mon, it's a play. It was BASED on the original trail, got the idea, not meant to be a fact-by-fact retelling of reality. It was made for drama.

  • The Play: Scope's fiancée 'Rachel Brown' is called as a witness and is badly mistreated by Bryan, who forces her to testify by insisting she repeat deeply personal conversations between her and Scopes. Bryan loses his selfcontrol and becomes cruel and merciless in his questioning of the frightened young lady.

  • The Facts: No such women participated in the trial. Scopes did not have a special girlfriend or fiancée at this time. Bryan was courteous at all times in his handling of witnesses, as the trial transcript reveals. In fact, DARROW was cited for contempt of court for repeatedly interrupting and insulting Judge Raulston.

  • The Play: The authors introduce Rev. Jeremiah Brown as a mean-spirited man who calls down Hell-fire on his own daughter

The Facts: Reverend Jeremiah Brown and the prayer meeting never existed.

  • PLAY: The Christians of Dayton, Tennessee are portrayed ignorant, closedminded, & discourteous. Ex: When Darrow finally arrives in town, a young Christian girl screams, The Devil!, and then runs off in fear.

Facts: (Darrow) "I don't know as I was ever in a community in my life where my religious ideas differed as widely from the great mass ... Yet I came here a perfect stranger ... I have been treated better, kindlier, & more hospitably than I fancied would have been the case in the north.'

  • Fiction: Throughout this play, William Jennings Bryan is portrayed as closed-minded, pompous, stupid, intolerant, hypocritical, insincere and gluttonous.

DARROW: (Origin of Species) 'Never read it?'

    BRYAN: 'And I never will.'

  • Facts: Bryan is reported by one of his biographers, Lawrence W. Levine, to have READ Darwin's "On the Origin of Species" 20 years before the Scopes trial! Bryan's reservations about evolution theory were certainly influenced by his religious beliefs, but he had written many well-argued articles critical of the evidence used to defend the theory of evolution.

  • Author Sprague de Camp compelled him to give Bryan credit for at least some undeniable virtues:

'As a speaker, Bryan radiated good-humored sincerity. Few who heard him could help liking him. In personality he was forceful, energetic, and opinionated but genial, kindly, generous, likeable and charming. He showed a praise-worthy tolerance towards those who disagreed with him. Bryan was the greatest American orator of his time and perhaps any time.'

  • So people are smarter than God? I dont think so. My comment does not really have anything to do with the movie, I have not seen it all. I dont even want to enter into a debate. I just dont think a human being is smarter than God.

  • "God" thought that bats are birds. Leviticus 11:13-19.

  • I didnt see the word "bat"? Can you elaborate?

  • The Hebrew word for "fowl" is "owph" - this means "has a wing".

They were just pointing out the flying creatures that they should point out as an abomination.

  • This is one of the most underrated movies in existence! :D What a powerful scene!!

  • I absolutely love that line:

"Mister, you may conquer the air ... but the birds will lose their wonder and the clouds will smell of gasoline."

  • And if you creationists guys think you are so right, there's no point doing a response on this comments page, right? Because i will be'burned in bloody hell' and you guys are ALWAYS 'right' no matter what lies you say because God is on 'your side', when he doesn't take sides. I dare you make a response - it just shows you guys are not assure of yourself and that you're hypocrites.

  • @TheVoiceOfReason93

You only blast creationists like that because you KNOW they're only spoiling all the malicious slander and gutter-talk about creationists to use as your "facts" and "fun".

  • And i thought God says do Not Lie - huh, where's your holiness now with all your lies and propaganda to discredit evolution? You want to burn in hell? Also where's the tolerance i always thought you guys have (yes, i know i sound hypocritically extremist, but so do you guys). All the creationists' arrogance and assertiveness had shown them as nothing more but Religious/Moral Nazis.

  • Indeed it is a good movie- and screw those Creationists who blasted it as inaccurate. Maybe it is, but its not the point- but the arguments for the defense of Reason against mindless stupidity. Everyday i would see liars who deliberately demonize Darwin (an Anglican) and biologists and twist the evolution theory and fact out of context. I seen the evidence, man, i studied it in IB, and i say the theory is viable and it is a FACT because they logically make sense

  • This is one of the greatest movies of this, or any other time...

And this is one of the best scenes in any movie, ever.

    Tracy was beyond brilliant!

  • I think that creationists and evolutionists are both wrong. Here's why: Evolutionists assume that there is nothing that needs to be taken on faith and Creationists dismiss all scientific evidence of evolution. Both of these approaches are wrong. I have more info on ideapals in the intelligent design of evolution group.

Yes, it would be agreeable that both sides are wrong in their own ways - but which side would be generally reckon as the more rational and accurate?

  • Oh, for cry it out loud - of course you fanatics can't - You think everything and everyone else is wrong, and that thinking that being morally and 'intellectually' superior you fanatics had the right to choose for us what is right, even though you guys never even bother to understand us! If you guys are so assured of yourself you are right why don't you just leave us alone? We would be rotting in hell anyways, right?

  • @TheVoiceOfReason93

You are the one on here calling people stupid and fanatics and denouncing that which we hold sacred. Who needs to leave who alone?

  • Shut up 'Voice of Reason.'
