I dont think the merlin is "underpowered" I fly caldari and i can tell you, if it gets rid of the tackling modules and fits an honest tank, its tougher than a punisher and can do way more damage in my experience, however as far as solo pvp goes.....like most caldari ships it must make the sad decisions......scrammer or extender? webber or booster? if only i could get rid of 1 of those useless lowslots and get another mid.........

merlin pilot had few skills. he was alost a complete noob. takin rails up agaisnt a craft with much higher speed to close teh gap. if he had fitted blasters, a med shield booster a invul field an a stasis web he could have held his own an maybe won. rifters are far from the best frigs. they lack a lot

you can drag & drop your modules around if you want, makes it easier to use em thru shortcuts (F-keys)

hey, what was your fit on that Rifter? i would really like to know which projectile turrets and ammo you were using, along with everything else. Very impressive battle, there. Took him out pretty fast.

he was pretty much a smack talking noob so not much of a challenge.

You can see my fit from the hud. Highs had 3x 200mm t2 autos, a rocket launcher

in the mids i have a t2 ab, scram and a web (was using this thing to fight ceptors)

and in the lows there is a small plate, a t2 gyro and a small t2 repper.

you can stick something else in the lows if you want, thats just what i had on me when i filmed this :P

now that we have small rigs i recommend you get some rigs for yours.

Ah this is an old version of eve (empyrean age?) and they might have removed those exhaust lines from todays eve. Not sure.

I think engine trails was removed as a part of the Need for Speed efforts on CCP's part not long after Trinity but I'm not sure, akk i know for sure is that I miss them. :P

He's not. He's just moving fast enough that the merlin can't hit him for any damage. Look at his lows, his rifter is fitted for armor tanking.

rifter and armor tank is no go. in pvp with rifter you use sheilds, me and buddy of mine have been battling each other in rifter and merlin for about 2 months now, we have a winning combo, were so strong that no one can win. weve tried millions of cominations, rifter with sheilds is the strongest combination. armor tanking it doesnt work

its only a small buffer w/ a rep so not really a 'tank'.. its not supposed to tank the opponent for ever neither. only long enough for u to kill what ever it is you're killing.

also, if u shield tank it u wont have room for a point / web / ab. clearly you're a newbie so I wont flame you any further.
