  • great idea.it makes the job easier without soldering.so how long the pipes supposed to stick out from the wall?can i use same shut off valves in video with pex tubing?

    thanks

  • @bigals2008 I don't think so, but I have never worked with pex. Hopefully someone else will leave a comment and answer your question, sorry.

  • 2:25 why if he pulled the valve would it not come off the pipe??

  • @TheXXSCOPEDXx When you tigthen up the fittings it compresses against the pipe, but if you pull hard enough, you can pull them off. They are actually called compressin fittings.

  • you guys should check out speedyvalve its easy/quick

  • what type of sand paper are you using, and How much is the copper cutter and other materials to complete the job?

  • @will7696 I used an 80 grit but you could use something smaller like a 120. I think I paid about 25 dollars for my pipe cutter. If you have a lumber yard or home improvement center near you, just go down and check out there stuff.

  • Online plumbing help at vpvirtualplumbing on the web is avalible now!

  • wow...that's awfully "snug" to the wall. Very important, what you said about cleaning...taking off too much copper is a mistake, as water might try to get past the ferrule through the scratches you've made in the copper. I will also second the other poster: WRENCHES...proper tool for job; don't try to press tools (pliers) into jobs they weren't really meant to do. Keeney warns about overtightening (basically 1/2 turn or so past finger-tight). multiturn valves: booo! use 1/4 turn/ball

  • Little tip...you should use crescent wrenches on these valves as pliers and channel locks will remove the chrome.Straight chrome valves are called cr14 and cr19 are the angle. The ferrule is made of brass.Snug up the valve ...do not over tighten as it is possible to split the valve. Every waterline supply run to a fixtureshould be 1/2 inch in size. have a good day

  • @TheOldkid888 Thanks for leaving your comments. I appreciate any useful information and you're absolutely right, about the wrenches. I put so many of these valves on, I can actually do it without chipping the chrome, but didn't even think about others.

  • this video is better than most!

  • Great Vid. I thought I had to to welding to get these things on. I hope you can get double shutoff valve fittings as I have two taps in the one sink.
