Juicing is very good for nutrition but fiber is also very good to clean the body and feed the good bacteria...if someone needs HUGE amounts of nutrients to fight cancer or any other severe ilnees juicing is easier cause one can drink much and take more in one day than if it was blended. juicing may be better in case od someone has severe problems in digestive ,but not alwasys needed.it depends on each case i belive.
I don't think Dr. Brian has an extended background in nutrition. I know people who have reversed heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc. from going on a green smoothie fast. Juice fasts are great too, don't get me wrong, but I know first hand on what green smoothies have done for me as well. I am pill free, sick free and my Doctor can't believe it. Green Smoothies are incredibly healthy and if you "chew" your smoothie (yes, chew) it's even more beneficial for your body.
I believe in raw whole food, not jucing or blending. Occasionlly a smoothie is o.k but on a daily basis, I believe in Whole raw food. I only believe in juicing wheat grass.
@peoniesfleur - I'm kinda with you but more to the "caveman" anything non-processed diet. I'm looking at juicing as a morning coffee or tea replacement.
We should juice the vegetables and blend the fruits. My strong examples: a juice from the carrots and a paste (mousse) from the apples. It's better to eat the whole content of the fruits, and only essential elements of vegetables - in a juice. I don't see the sense of making a juice from the fruits! So many profitable things we lose then, and it gets a weaker taste.
I also like blended smoothies better than juicing, it's more of a meal and it fills you up and I think it helps detox your body faster because the fiber pushes stuff out of your intestine. I lost a pound a day just doing smoothies made of banana, strawberry and blueberry with kale 2 a day. My blood pressure went from 180/110 to 120/59 in a week and a half. Try that with a doctors medication! It wont happen. Our health problems stem from the food we eat. I still eat meat, but not frequently.
@justentime77 I think he comes from the position that if you do blend, the particles don't go correctly through the digestive proccesses. It makes sense, but it is strange he didnt provide any evidence?
@Tupoc4181 Well, he's also trying to imply that when you juice the enzymes remain alive, whereas blending kill's them. I think that's a crock. I have both a juicer and a blender and not only use them both, but often combine them.
i think many ppl have a flawed view/opinion/argument when it comes to the smoothie v juice topic. it's not whether one is better than another but rather how the body accepts it. there is no doubt that raw living whole foods are optimum for better health - smoothies provide fiber, juices provide faster access to nutrients - smoothies take longer to digest using more energy & poor combinations can cause putrefaction in gut - w/ juice it's unlikely as it digests fast w/ little energy used
Juicing fruits and vegetables with my Hurom slow speed single auger masticating juicer provides more life force energy than my blender. The Hurom takes less than 15 minutes to juice, clean up, and drink a quart of juice. This includes a soapy water wash. Ditto the Omega 330/350 juicers. Juices are assimilated within miutes while blended food takes hours. I use my Blendtec blender for making almond and hemp milk. It takes a powerful blender to make nut milk. It's fast and easy to clean up.
Have done it many times being a raw food advocate, and ive NEVER had blended carrots turn Brown nor have i ever heard of that happening.
ill go to your house and lets do it and ill bet you $ 500 the Carrots are NOT brown and are a bright orange after blending , Its obvious that both Clement and yourself have never even used a Blender before with all due respect
@LegPains Regarding this blending debate..Im still waiting to see some actual research done by an actual team of research scientists that proves blending destroys significant amounts of nutrients. Either by oxidation of G- forces whichever. Brian Clement is not the authority over anything except his own opinion. Having said that Id still like to see how much nutrition loss does occur by blending. To our health!
i agree with you, and im amazed no one out there has done any such studies on it. Clement so far has only offered up his own subjective biased Opinion, he offers ZERO science to back up his claims on blending
with the Popularity of blending its astounding No one has yet published any studies on it with regard to oxidation.
Clement claims that 90 percent of Nutrition in a green blended raw smoothie is completely destroyed. I find that to be a totally Asinine absurd statement to make. The Number CANT possibly be that high or else drinking a raw green organic smoothie would be not much better than drinking a glass of Pepsi soda
@LegPains I agree with you. Clemens is full of crap. I went raw some time ago and 99 percent of my diet is blended green smoothies. I saw amazing results the first week, 10 pounds lighter, clearer skin, hair became naturally moist, vision became more crisp. Man I can go on and on. I even blend a half gallon in the night and leave it in the fridge for breakfast and that thing is still potent in the morning. Clemens is wrong, I know it, I can prove it.
Well said, thanks for sharing, what you said is powerful real world evidence that Clement is clueless and naive on this subject . This topic of Raw vegan diet can be confusing enough , now people are worried that their Organic fresh green smoothie is no different than Drinking a Pepsi soda with the same nutrition according to Clement.
@TrevorTCR Hey man, any problems drinking smoothies all day, I have found it really hard to juice feast while I'm working, smoothies take way less time to make.
@bluesdog88 No, it's actually perfect. Smoothie is the best, you can crank out a one thousand calorie meal in less than 5 minutes and the only cleanup is the washing of the blender. Raw food will save you so much time and work and it will give you superior health.
One which turns at low RPM to preserve enzymes and minimizes oxidization. Twin gears such as the kempo green star and the angel juicer fall under this category. A good one for fruit is a masticating juicer called the champion.
the champion is actually a HORRIBLE Juicer, it cant do greens and it heats up the Juice very fast. its over rated , outdated and very wasteful to use.
The 2 gear Juicers are very expensive and waste alot of water, time and energy to clean . Best way to make Juice is in a blender and then strain with a nut mylk bag
