  • TRS=1/4INCH cables for all those audio noobs. If its distorting you are reaching your head room on your speakers, which is the point to how loud your signal can go without distorting your terrible speakers( sry i dislike that model)....You also forgot to mention if their is a hissing which mainly occurs from any low end usb out/in devices, not saying that akai is....But you never know....

  • Does it work well with garageband? or should I not even consider it?

  • @sweeterthananything just a mouse and keyboard

  • @ArmadongRima well no duh dude, why the hell you plugging your mouse and keyboard into a audio interface? yes it has USB ports but come on.

they are mainly for midi usb keyboards, hard drive and mainly just that, i wouldnt even consider expecting my mouse or keyboard to work with it in the way your expecting it to.

  • @ArmadongRima another important note, most mouses and keyboards need a program to work properly which is usually on your computer. AKAI is not responsible for making audio interfaces that can have installed mouse and keyboard software on them.

they are not computers, do not try to use it like one. i mean i hate to judge a book by its cover but i knew from looking at your page you were doing something stupid like this.

  • @ArmadongRima plus mouses use DPI, unless your using a old ball mouse which would be even worse im sure.

the DPI on my mouse is 2000 the akai wouldnt even be able to register or use that correctly let alone handle having it plugged in, if anything i could only imagine it causing major interference issues just like your complaining about.

i mean it is a laser mouse for christ sakes being plugged into a audio interface, its plugged into your computer but it is not your computer.

  • @ArmadongRima without complaining about the ridiculousness of why yours isnt working properly...

id suggest whatever ports are not free on your computer, switch your mouse and keyboard to those directly, try trading the others off on the akai. i dont see how you wouldnt have room for a mouse and keyboard on your computer, if you dont you really did not think setting it up out all too well in the first place.

plug in devices that you would expect to work with a audio interface.

  • @ArmadongRima just to give you one last example of how ridiculous that sounds, thats like me plugging my Xbox360 controller into the EIE Pro and expecting it to work while i record.

    think about that.

  • i guess this is a good interface only for midi not for recording and djing! not good for recording because you cant use 96hz its lag on adobe audition, pro tools, cuebase at sonar! This is the reason thats why AaanthonyyyNick doesnt upload any song using this interface because of that.. The most bad thing i encountered with this is lack of power output. I set the master volume all the way and the direct monitoring is in the middle! it isnt give a appropriate sound to my krk rookit 6.

  • yeah its true! this is very annoying! wdm drivers from akai was not supported the playback in the computer only the mic input and when you use the direct monitoring it is hard to get the balance, I mean when you record a song you can hear your voice in the speakers or headphone but when you play it? the instrumental is more louder. Since this interface does not have a good driver at output power i decided to returned it from sweetwater.

  • You need to use the master audio on the interface to control your monitors. Don't leave it completely turned up all the way. That's why you're getting distortion. Stop using the computers audio control to fix the clipping + noise while not playing.

  • @ArmadongRima is that really true? It would have to be just that unit, no way could they get away with USB hub causing audio latency. That would just make the whole thing worthless. Can you confirm this Aaathonyy??? Try using all 3 USB ports please.

Looks soooo good I want this interface.

  • Is it USB 2 or 3

  • @shootinblanks95 on Akai website it says USB 1.1. VERY disappointed.

  • I returned mine yesterday because i don't like this . AKAI need to improve the output power of this interface and when you plug any device to usb hub its started to lag the audio (its like pop and click on the tracks. it looks nice but its not!

  • @ArmadongRima just curious, what were you plugging into it? because i wouldn't expect one USB stream to be able to handle 4in/4out 24 bit audio and something else heavy on data - maybe the hub was a bad idea to begin with.

  • Hi there, not to sound unappreciative cuz I do appreciate that you posted this since (as you say) there are really no solid user reviews out there (just a lot of - admittedly tantalizing - corporate hype), but how can you already have an opinion on the device if you haven't actually recorded anything with it yet? I mean, isn't that the MAIN PURPOSE of this device? It's like reviewing a car without driving it ;)

  • please give us a sample of the audio produced..really want to know what the preamps are like..are they gooot?

  • Would you mind recording some vocals/piano/Midi, etc. And upload it here? See, I'm a musician and I need an interface right now, but quality is really important to me. It would help a lot man, as there is no other review in Youtube or tests... You'd help me sooo much. Thanks man!

  • Would you mind recording some vocals/piano, etc... and upload it? I need an interface right now, but quality is really important to me, and I MUST check it out. Would you be able to do that please? Thanks!

  • That noise you hear is called ground noise and its in all sound cards and audio devices. you can remove this sound by getting your gain structure right in the audio chain. to do this turn your overall master down as you mentioned you had it full and you can hear some slight noise also you can turn your krk monitors down and let the sound card amplify the extra gain lost :)

  • Hi buddy, would you mind letting us know how does it sounds when you record your voice? How is the latency? How about the noise during the recording?

    Thanks.
