@RaitheLiberty From my experience a good performance is all from the flow and ability to not mess up. So when I'm performing I won't attempt anything I'm not sure if I can execute 100%.

Bah haha!! lol glowstringing is EXACTLY the same as poi just with smaller mass. i mean that like saying, playing an electric guitar is not music because its synthisized and more flashy than an acoustic. they are both great with one being a variant of the other.
I mean go buy a flowlight and its considered poi even though its the same weight as a glowstick without the crystal case or flowmass. this is like the fushigi/contact juggling argument all over again.

@electriccwecozz You are a fool to post such a comment. Glowsticking is not about who is better than who, and it is not about battling. Glowsticking evolved out of the rave scene, and thus carries along the same cultural values. It is a dance and an artform to express oneself, NOT to battle. Please go research more about the culture behind glowsticking.

I'd like to make it very clear that I'm not in any way attacking you or bashing you. I'm just hoping that I can explain what other people have undoubtedly tried to explain in previous posts. Call it selfish if you wish, but the last thing I want to see is the glowsticking scene become more corrupt that it already has.
The culture down here is so corrupt that problems are no longer settled on dancefloors, its settled in hospitals.

Another reason stringing at school is frowned upon in the community is because you are no longer stringing for yourself. You are doing it for other people's attention. At least it can be interpreted that way, and even if you aren't seeking attention, other people exist that would corrupt the art for such a purpose. People who would see you and think: "Hey that looks cool. I want to look cool." Stringing isn't about how good you are or looking cool. It's about having fun.
I know I'm not the first to say this, and I don't have the time to read all the comments already posted, but so much culture was potentially destroyed here. Glowstringing for a talent show isn't necessarily wrong AS LONG AS ITS NOT A COMPETITION. In this case, there was a cash prize, which makes it stringing for money. If stringing became a competition, it would destroy the community aspect because no one would share ideas and help the art grow. I don't hate you, I'm just trying to educate you.

Glowsticking evolved out of the rave scene, and thus carries along the same cultural values. It is a dance and an artform to express oneself, NOT to battle. I'd like to make it very clear that I'm not in any way attacking you or bashing you. I'm just hoping that I can explain what other people have undoubtedly tried to explain in previous posts. Call it selfish if you wish, but the last thing I want to see is the glowsticking scene become more corrupt that it already has.
The culture down here is so corrupt that problems are no longer settled on dancefloors, its settled in hospitals.

Another reason stringing at school is frowned upon in the community is because you are no longer stringing for yourself. You are doing it for other people's attention. At least it can be interpreted that way, and even if you aren't seeking attention, other people exist that would corrupt the art for such a purpose. People who would see you and think: "Hey that looks cool. I want to look cool." Stringing isn't about how good you are or looking cool. It's about having fun.

I know I'm not the first to say this, and I don't have the time to read all the comments already posted, but so much culture was potentially destroyed here. Glowstringing for a talent show isn't necessarily wrong AS LONG AS ITS NOT A COMPETITION. In this case, there was a cash prize, which makes it stringing for money. If stringing became a competition, it would destroy the community aspect because no one would share ideas and help the art grow. I don't hate you, I'm just trying to educate you.
