  • Little jerky and shaky, but you caught the real essence of the engine and its sound. Always did like the throaty whistles on Soo Line engines and GN engines. Thank you for sharing your video with us all. Good job !

  • Uuuu v ZzyijjuaZ0#29+@-/@+1828;0ggy

  • nice growl !!

  • If you listen close enough, you can hear the words "I think I can" in the chuffing. At least I did!

  • thats odd shes got no cylinder OR boiler cladding

  • LOVE the stacktalk!

  • I have watched the longer video too. I really like the sound of that 6 chime whistle compared to the 3 chime one. the 3 chime is a bit shrill for my taste while the 6 chime... well, it just sounds like a locomotive is supposed to sound to me.

  • now thats the power of steam

  • low speed

  • @VladRo10 Switch engines, such as this one, are low speed engines. Unlike road locomotives, which use large diameter wheels to achieve high speeds, switch engines used smaller wheels in order to start heavy trains in railroad yards.

  • Where is this?

  • Beautiful stack talk! Definitely worth saving.

  • I like that stack talk....

  • WHAT A WHISTLE!!!!! YES!

  • A true American classic. Even our small locos have a deep voice! In my oppinion, a steam locomotive is happiest when doing what they are designed to do. They are also music on steel wheels! You can have a little fun on a steam whistle, but on diesle all u can do is push a button and get one tone.

  • I think I can, I think I can......

  • She walks along strong and proud, doesn't she?

My old steam railroad engineer friend from years ago used to say:

"A diesel engine is just a flatcar with a

motor on it, but a steam locomotive is

    an iron horse!"

  • @4freespeech more like a boxcar with a motor and a cab ... diesels are a crime against true railroading

  • @4freespeech steam locomotives really are alife.

diesels are just boxes with a motor with monotone sound. theres no life.

  • For small locomotive that is one incredible whistle!!! Wow!!!

  • Good vid with great sound quality

    Thanks!

  • Hey Spencer, my 2 year old loves your train videos and keeps asking me to show him the "train dodos (videos)."

I'll let him type something: ffffffrt:/

  • yeah...my 2 year old loves watching the "choo-choo" too! :-)

  • Great crossing whistle. Two longs, a short, and a looooooooooong.

  • The whistle rocks!!!

  • I don't care what anybody says a steam locomotive sounds so much better than any diesel train.

  • Quite right, man.

Steam locomotives are more human, like Ollie Johnston said.

The panting of Steam locomotives says sort off "I´m working, I´m working" or "Yes, sir! Yes, sir!"

Diesels just whines and doesn´t make any musical harmony at all.

  • Amen. I get stopped by a train out in Haubstadt,Indiana everyday, but if it was one of these bad boys i would appreciate it.

  • Wow that whistle dang near blew me off my seat!

  • No that sounds better than any GE!!!

  • AMEN!

  • @1jackdk uh, a steamer does

  • awesome!! I wish steam locomotives would come back. it would be a beautiful sight to see these beautiful engines as the majority on the railways of america again.

  • I think I can!

    Very nice. Thanks.

  • that's a commanding chuff for such a little engine.

  • yeah she barks pretty loudly!
