  • What do i do if my hair isn't long enough to make a bun

  • @godisawesome316 we also have a video: How to Fix Short Hair. It is under the playlist: Fort Jackson Nov-Feb 2012 Cycle. Take a look at it for some help!! (AG)

  • @Taima826 It should. Maybe Bobby pins will help a little, too.

  • *too

  • I suck at making buns so if I did this sock idea for a high bun for dancing would it also work or is the sock to heavy for a high bun?

  • I have senegleese twist what do i do? how big can the bun be?

  • @TheCutegirljess Females may wear braids as long as the braided style is conservative, and the braids lie snugly on the head. Long hair that falls naturally below the bottom edge of the collar, to include braids, will be neatly and inconspicuously fastened or pinned, so no free-hanging hair is visible. All hair-holding devices must be plain and of a color as close to the Soldier as is possible or clear. If you're still unsure, then have your Recruiter take a look at it. (AG)

  • This don't work with thick hair :(

  • @MsSchool132 Sorry to hear:( Keep trying!

  • @FutureSoldierCenter yeah i was goin to say the same thing =/

  • Is the legal for Air Cadets?

  • Wow, that's cool! I never thought of that when I was in (1995-2001). I just put it in a ponytail, then wrapped it around, and secured with rubber band (I had brown hair back then, so I used a brown hair band).

  • Lol I want to give up and just get cornrows TT_TT

  • @NonTempus LOL!! Don't give up, you'll get it:) (AG)

  • Are woman GIs busy at shower time ?

  • My hair must be too thick or too long because I can't seem to get the "wrap around" part to look right at all. It looks way too bulky and the ends are always sticking out, no matter how many hair bands or pins I use. Anyone have any advice? I do plan on cutting my hair before I ship.

  • Shit, Im black and I have diffrent hairstyles I wear I might just braid down the front of my hair then put a bun in tha back the way she did. Girls in my old residential showed me how to do that with the sock but I totally forgot. Oh shit that rhymes lol jk.

  • so thats how famales get those perfect buns. lol i always thought every chick was like a pro at making those or something.. :P

  • I'm future Marine Corps, and my hair is long and thick and wavy and generally unruly. Glad I found this video, cos it's nice to see that it works for long hair! Off to go find a sock... Thanks for the video!

  • does this work for marine corps too?... (cant find many vids..)

  • @bruechert29 only can say definitely for the Army, but I would say it should work for the Marines too. (AG)

  • What about Black girls? Any advice?

  • @KINSHASAA19sankru89 you may wear braids and cornrows as long as the braided style is conservative, the braids and cornrows lie snugly on the head. Dreadlocks are prohibited. Long hair that falls naturally below the bottom edge of the collar, to include braids, will be neatly fastened or pinned, so no free-hanging hair is visible. All hair-holding devices must be plain and of a color as close to the Soldier as is possible or clear. Hope this helps you:) (AG)

  • Can u do this for the Navy??????????

  • @Symarip94 I would assume it would probably be okay, but we only work with the US Army.

  • @Symarip94 Many Navy girls wear their hair like this. You have to make sure your bun isn't too big and doesn't stick out too far from your head. Trust me, someone will straighten you out if it's not right. (USN 01'-06')

  • omg thank you soooo much :) this is perfect :D xxx

  • What if you have long THICK hair? Do you have to just cut it?

  • @irisayala its the same effect just a bigger bun

  • LOL OMG PLEASE! that is truly assinine to the max, if thats the case, black men should be allowed to have dreads...they want equal only to a point, then here comes the " but i'm a woman" lol omg lol

  • here's a novel idea..they want all this equality, bra burning feminists, i am woman hear me roar, we can do w/e a man can do..SHAVE THEIR HEADS JUST LIKE THE MALES...HAIR SITUATION PROBLEMS SOLVED

  • @thecolaratlady Lol, those "bra-burning feminists" are idiots. The strongest woman will never be as strong as the strongest man. Women and men are different but we deserve the same freedoms because we are all human beings. But I don't see the problem with women having buns, we still all look the same; it's not flattering, but it's out of our faces. I'm sorry if that's offensive to you, but I really don't see the problem.

  • @ThissIssMyUsername Also, if you shave a woman's head, most likely, that will lower their self-confidence dramatically, and soldiers need self-confidence.

  • Great video(:

  • woah... your hair is sooo long and gorgeous

  • This is a great idea. I've never tried it before. I just do a ponytail, braid it tightly, wind it into a bun then put another tie around it. My hair doesn't go anywhere no matter what I'm doing til I take it down.

  • @bellaroxs44, no you are not allowed to wear them at all in BCT. (RL)

  • @FutureSoldierCenter that is not true because BCT is where my DS taught all of us females with long hair how to do that. i still to this day (5 and a half years later) still wear my hair exactly like that.

  • i was wondering if during basic training if your allowed to wear stud earings as long as they r not coloured ...

  • @mckinnisjm24, Thank you for the advice. HOOAH!!! (RL)

  • You can do the sock bun whenever in the military, so yes you can do this in Basic. It is something that a lot of females dont use but it is awesome and looks great. You will find that there are alot of females in the military that have jacked up hair that is out of regulation. I think this should be mandatory for all females in the Army.

  • do you have any advice if you have layered hair. cause im an explorer for DPS rite now and we have to do a bun. but i struggle with it all the time cause my hair is layered. i am going to let my hair grow out but that could take awhile for my shortest layer to grow

  • can you do the sock bun in army basic or does it just have to be a bun without the sock until youre done with basic?

  • Hooah...

  • u could just make a real bun/topknot

check out itsjudytime's top knot. if you put it at the nape of ur neck it follows regulations

  • or just cut your hair sgt??? the army doesnt want you to look good for a combat zone...

  • @SuperTNEZ I don't think the bun is to make you look good, I actually think it's more practical instead of having short hair that's not up. When you have your hair down, it can get in your face.

  • @ThissIssMyUsername the bun is to ensure that your hair stays with in AR 670-1, since you cant wear a pony tail like the USAF, and your hair has to look as professional as possible at all times.

  • @makfuller I know. Random lol

  • great video

  • @1987MrsC HOOAH!!!! Now your are ready for BCT. (RL)

  • just tried my first sock bun, aced it! you made it look easy, hooah!

  • Are you allowed to use any hair product for basic or is it all natural? Do you have to pull it up as soon as its wet?

Like once you get a shower

  • That was sooo cool. I've been practicing how to do my bun exactly but I have short hair about an inch or two below my shoulders and it keeps falling out little places everywhere. I'm definitely going to practice this! thank you (: And do they make you do the sock bun at basic? Or can you do any bun you prefer?

  • thank you ! so helpful. i definitely will practice this.

  • They dont care that you cut up a sock?
