rofl it sounds like...no wait they already put that...HA sounds like..nope wait put that one two...hegh if you think about it..sounds alot like...GOD DAMNIT!
man i see alot of people bashing theremin but im telling you it doesnt matter how it sound. i played a party this weekend just me and my acoustic and every drunk there was impressed by my headstock tuner. imagine if they wouldve seen me playing one of theses things? "how...how do you think, he's like doing that? wheres the sound coming from?! WTF? is he magic?"
That is GREAT theremin playing!!! I am a musician myself, predominately into keyboard instruments. I know that the theremin is a hard instrument to play, for I tried my hand at it in a science museum in Louisville, KY, probably in 2010. I also like the output sound on your unit. The one that I played probably just had a square wave output, and was kind of harsh. Worse yet, theremins don't seem to do well as solo instruments.
You not alone with Cat allergies mate. They iritate my throat something chronic. Asthma and sneezes. Theremin could kinda sound like a very large cat puring.
@DarkJoker7 A moog etherwave theremin costs about 400 bucks? Most professional instruments cost a lot more! You're right about not many people playing it though (except for sound effects), perhaps because it's quite a tough one to master.
@flutitas22 Your TV emits radiation. Your cellphone works on microwaves. You're bombarded with more radiation every second than you even realize. Research it. Its very fascinating.
omg i was waitin for the whole Paul Scream "Hey judey judey judey judey ahaw!" ... dont judge i tried my best to type his screams out o the top of my head
Awesome skills, very smooth playing, though not a particularly pleasant-sounding theremin, I'm afraid x_o
And I understand your cat problem completely. Cats are just so petable and lovely :) Try carrying with you some anti-bacterial gel, it does wonders to keep the allergens from your hands, and consequently your face, eyes and stuff.
That's so cool........I totally forgot the Theremin existed for a while, and now I want to get one, lol. I have NO clue where I'm going to find one though.
@TheScottishDragon I'm not a musician, right. But I do music for fun, using synths and mainly computer software. Believe me, I don't see the use of this shit instrument called theremin. It reminds me the old SF stupid movies. At least do you agree with that right?
@S0v3r3ign69 Just the idea of the instrument is cool. It uses the electrical waves, and the distance, to create pitch, and different tones. and also different volumes of tones. It's just kind of cool. Yeah, I guess it does kind of sound like the old Sci-Fi sound effects, but not all of the do either. just some of them. some of the nicer ones sounds more like musical things.
@TheScottishDragon Yeah yeah, I got your point. However was not my intention to offend you or your work (If you are a theremin player). I guess the concept is cool, but also is cool jumping from a high skyscraper without parachute. I actually dislike the sound of this instrument that's all! Have a nice day buddy, and try to get some crack cocaine and smoke it! Was not my intention to offend you! Love peace and grease!
@S0v3r3ign69 this is not the usual sound of a theremin. Check "Masami Takeuchi plays "Swan" on Theremin" in Youtube, you'll see how it sounds under a master virtuoso.
@S0v3r3ign69 It's actually from 1919, and is the first known electronic instrument. I like synthesizers too, but I understand their origin and respect them. Without the Theremin, most of your synths wouldn't exist.
@tehpersian Why choosing the hard way? Getting real instruments, playing and recording such things is more expensive, time consuming, and you need more people. Is better to use your time and money getting creative. This is the future my friend, wake up! Computers and software is the way for many domains.
i understand the whole aspect of left and right and and what to do, just couldn't get the notes to be on pitch, especially when going higher up, it's a fine line of hand tenseness and being relaxed.
it is, I had one oh, about 7 years ago use it just a few times for just the shear noise of it. It is wild but I just couldn't get the, getting the notes. I play guitar, bass and little keys but this is playing AIR.

Bollocks will the superposition of two signals (one varying and one stationary) not cause a change in frequency. The frequency you hear is the beat frequency. fb = |f1-f2|. Change f1, and fb will change. To change a radio frequency signal by a few Hz is a very easy and very small change, yet the same change is very noticeable at audio frequency. The fact that some circuits may use other methods for certain reasons does not mean that just addition does not change the frequency.
Without exception, the linear addition of two inaudible frequencies will never yield an audible difference frequency. Many theremins, including the original design, use heterodyning, that provides the generation of new frequencies by mixing or multiplying two oscillating waveforms as a result of the angle sum and difference identities as described by Abū al-Wafā' Būzjānī, a 10th century mathematician.
