Realistic TRC-430 by Radio Shack CB Radio - Overview and modulation adjustment location

Hello I have this CB The trc 430 it's a great little radio.A Friend of mine has one similar to this one but when he talks on the radio then lets off the key the radio switches automatically to the next lower channel for example if He's on CB Channel 19 and he talks to some body after he's done talking and is waiting for the reply he has to switch the CB back to 19 rightaway to hear the other party.What would cause that?I tried my Mike from my TRC130 on his and mine worked perfectly.

A quick question here, if i increase the modulation what exactly does this do?
