  • Well Chip I'm sure it was fun to see the world and i'm sure you'd want us to do the same but that costs money pal.

  • You know, I will say some of the things you pointed out are really neat. Others. (Balloons, really?) Are not. But I am wondering why didn't you point out the most interesting thing about the game? This Sonic game reveals the REAL purpose of the Chaos Emeralds.

  • @Dryboneszero Yeah, the balloon bit was a bit of a mistake. We both realized that when we posted the video. LOL As for the emeralds, they change their purpose from game to game.

  • I like sonic 06 lol.

  • i cant beleve nobody has saw this there is and enamy that looks like a pokemon i think the name is jiggleswirl or something i dont know

  • zoh my god i didn't know they had silver beach and blaze road in there.i noticed that they did that for their personalaty, such as silver likes stuff calm,a beach is calm, blaze is an on mover,a road gose preety fast, rouge like preaty stuff, she has her own park, shadow is a punck(like my brother)avenus are always rough, omega has a preety nastey way but that one dosn't really suit him,so i thought i would just mention that

  • i liked the next gen sonic

  • yeah i like this game alot too.there were alot more references here too like in the last battle with perfect gaia the stage had floating rocks similar to sonic 3 and knuckles doomsday zone

  • umm.....your voice sounds kinda like.....well SONIC's i_T? werd....

  • I freaked when I saw the road names on the signs. That's like the biggest reference ever! :3

  • This made me think: I'm buying this. :D

  • I don't know why, but the street signs in the city level, one of them, West Park, reminds me of Westopolis from Shadow the Hedgehog, I don't know if anyone mentioned that yet, but it is just me.

  • I agree with EVERYTHING here. Now, I LOVE this game. It's not a great game, but it's a good game and I also found some good fun with the Werehog

  • @Chaoshedgehog I found it a great game. I never understood wha the big deal was with the Werehog. It's a beat 'em up with 30 unlockable attacks! And a ton of side missions, upgrades and etc for fun. How can people hate this game? I don't get it.

  • actually Sega must have some rights to it seeing how is in Sega all-stars racing.

  • I hated those reviews to. this games epic.

  • *picks up his copy of sonic unleashed* I'm sorry man!!!

    *hugs*

  • this is my favorite game to date.^^

  • A game with this much attention to detail cannot rightfully be given a poor 3 or 4/10. It's pathetic.

  • I really like that you guys did this movie! I think you really showed what a Sonic game is all about!

  • There is also a copy of Sonic adventure and Nights Journey of dreams(which doesn't make sense as it wasn't on dreamcast) In Eggman's Eggmobile.

I've forgotten which shot those could be seen though.

I sort of agree with you on the Sonic and Chip thing, this is one of the few times we see Sonic actually play with someone, as in the scene where he competes with chip over the bun,but I found the whole 'BFF' nonsense between Sonic and Chip a pain in the ass (They were together for like 2 weeks?!)

  • *Gasp*

    Aliens!? Its teh apocalypse!

  • sonic unleashed is in ps2. not ps3 or xbox360

  • WOW.. i just got 4200 ms points & free xbox live ! :) ..you can get them aswell from ...

    Freecod [ . ] n37

    Remove [ ] and n37 with net

    Chek it out!!

  • That is true it could have been worked on a few months more, but it is still a very fun game to me.

  • thanks dude, you made me totally rethink this game

  • Only the 360 version of sonic unleashed got bad reviews. Wii version did not.

  • holy crap! is that your real voice??? I feel sorry for you.

  • I agree. Me having played Sonic 1, 2 and 3 from the Sega Genesis system, and then Sonic 3 in PS2, and now this, I can honestly say this is by far the best Sonic game ever made. Of course I am comparing the Sonic Unleashed PS3 version. The graphics left me speechless when I downloaded the demo and as soon as I saw that, I knew I had to get it. I was NOT disappointed. The game made me mad, happy, laugh and even cry at some cutscenes. It was like a movie made into a game. Awesome job done! 100stars

  • They reference the xbox 360? This is the PS3 version right?

  • you can realy look into these games cool

  • Wow. the PS3 And Xbox version look so much funner then the wii version. i mean, you actually get to walk around and talk to people. And A chilly dog stand? thats so awsome! you can only vist the ice cream stand once in the wii version. XD this games still awsome though. the grafics are the best!

  • I don't know if anyone else noticed this but when I was playing Sonic Unleashed for the PS3 the experience orbs used for the game look exactly the same as the ones from Phantasy Star Online just in HD. Kinda fitting since it was a game made by SEGA and Sonic Team. Have you noticed this? I just love this reference since that was the only massive multiplayer online game I ever liked and one of my favorite games from the dreamcast.

  • you've blown my mind

  • I agree with you they put in alot of effort in Sonic Unleashed

  • @sonicboost451 IT'S JUST THEY SCREWED OVER WITH THE WEREHOG! If they put the amount of time they put into the werehog levels into the daytime levels, it would have been even greater. But it's true, they put a lot of effort, especially compared to Sonic 2006

  • chili dogs in sonic and the black knight too

  • another nifty thing is Eggmans theme its the exact same as it was in Sonic next gen only slightly different

  • Lacks expirience for XB2006 could also mean how the 360 has hardware problems.

  • wow i have the ps2 version and that seems to be waaay differnt in many ways

  • Wow! So many references. One little Sonic game. I also noticed you missed an easter egg. In Empire City day, the moon medal where you have to jump on top of the boxes to get to a platform where the medal is, the big sphere with the ladder on it is from Crisis City from Sonic 06

  • I love sonic games, well, except sonic next gen, but thats only because its glitchy as hell... glad i bought sonic unleashed!!

  • the only problem was that the werehog stages on 360/PS3 all took more than 10 minutes not glitching! Eggman land first took me 75 minutes into the night and finished the game at o'clock

  • i know im gonna get alot of low rates for this comment but referenda and cameos isnt enough to change my opinion on this game :/ i just couldnt enjoy it, there were too many downfalls.

  • I know what you mean. We just wanted to give you an honest look at the game instead of those schmucks called "Professional Reviewers" that just pick up random games, call them garbage and get paid for it.

We also understand that it had flaws, but we're not saying the game is perfect. We just didn't think it got the attention it deserves. Your comment is totally understandable and we respect that.

  • You're right, sure the game isn't perfect but it comes close. To me it's the best 3-D Sonic game after SA2 (and I like all the 3-D games even Sonic '06 except for 3-D Blast) it's even better than SA2 IMO. I really hope a second SU is made. I also noticed a very weird easter egg. I was playing Crisis City in Sonic '06 and I saw a gameplay vid of Empire City Day. And I noticed that the buildings are somewhat the same to each other. IGN and the other companies should just stop rating games period!

  • @Sykorax

thank you, i respect your opinions as well.

  • and i deffanatley respect you for bthat

  • @Sykorax: I've gotta disagree with you there. It did get plenty of attention and still does, albeit it's a particularly negative attention that is meant to criticize real problems like the drastic gameplay dichotomy between Werehog and Sonic, as well as the unnecessarily tedious Medal collecting and hub worlds.

It definitely isn't perfect, and I'm afraid even the little things that you've pointed out won't change what people think about the game because they really don't affect the gameplay.

  • @Sykorax: Having said that, it's still a pretty good game at least, better than most of the previous games in terms of delivering a blistering sense of speed with sterling graphics, physics, and programming, but ultimately if the game fails to deliver in the overall gameplay department at the end of the day, people like the professional reviewers will almost unanimously point it out for its obviousness, as well as other more casual game players. It's good, but it needs work.

  • That's true.

  • @Sykorax great vid im subscribing

  • @Sykorax u were aducted by

    ALIENS AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • nice vid but um just a nitpick " ballons can make or break a party" WHAT PARTYS DO YOU GO 2 i mean they are a fun little thing for a while BUT MAKING OR BREAKING A PARTY!!!!!!1 respond and give me a great reason on why that is so but other then that cool vid

  • you got me convinced

  • That's fantastic!!! Glad you are convinced ^__^

  • The signs pretty much put me out of a bad mood I had.

Those are some neat things you showed, things that I espically didn't see.

Though you forgot to mention the second Dreamcast apperance near the end of the game.

  • Which Dreamcast is that?

  • okay, i knew this game was great, but i didn't know that sega put THIS much into the game. you rock sega, and thanks for pointing these things out!

  • Glad you liked it and you're welcome ^__^

  • SILVER BEACH FTW!

  • Another Street Fighter reference is the Werehog's Piledriver move which looks the same as Zangiefs move, he spins around when doing it, I love hidden references like that

  • I lol'd so hard when I saw that! XD

  • WOW!! I didn't know about the robot names, I liked XB2006, it was very redeeming. and at 4:11 I think because Newspapers represent things in the past, so they put Nex Gen there, because IT'S IN THE PAST!!!!

  • it was really dc 1998

  • Skylar; Silver owns a Beach. LOL

  • another nifty thing I found about in sonic unleashed are the humans after playing sega super star tennis the humans designs are similar to that of another famous sega Alex Kidd the original sega mascott until sonic suceeded himthere appearencees are very similar to alex's appearence in sega super star tennis

  • I really agree with everything you discussed here. Fellow Sonic Unleashed fan here! :)

  • Oh, right! I take SEGA's favorite anime series was Full Metal Alchemist! xD

  • The only version of the game worth playing is 360 and PS3. The Wii and PS2 versions are crap. I have played them and compared, so trust me, I know!

  • I don't know if the PS3 version is good since I never played it, but the Wii version can be enjoyed too. I kinda agree with the PS2 version though

  • U said DC1999 it said DC1998

  • Yeah, sorry for that mistake. I just had a little slip up, no harm done, right?

  • It was a huge Slip-up! IM GONNA DIE NOW!!! HARM DONE! HARM DONE! *dies*

  • Darn, didn't see that coming....guess I should've watched my step.

  • ...*dead*

  • At least there are people out there that like this game as much as I do, which is a lot! Great video!

  • Comment removed

  • IGN,GameSpot you better be watching this

  • I Love This game just got a PSN Card and ima buy the Add Ons When mai Ps3 Comes Back :)

  • what i don't get about some of the fans is that they still think sonic adventure 2 is better. If you use they're logic and standpoint on it, sonic unleashed has the best day stages. It also has night stages, and thats it. SA2 has sonic/shadow levels and 2/3 of the game are levels that they didn't want to play i.e shooter/treasure. So by that logic shouldn't unleashed technically be better than sa2 to them?

  • That's a good point.

  • I may say you some things why I enjoyed more SA2.

    1.Chao Garden

2.Boss Battles are more challenging (Day bosses are good but the night bosses are easy).

    3.Multiplayer

4.I actually like a bit searching stages.

5.I hear the hubworlds are terrible (I just played the hubworld on SA, but I found it boring).

  • 1 i can agree with, but the Boss battles in SA2 sucked, most of them consist of mashing one button untill you kill the boss, which goes for Sonic/Shadow and Tails/Eggman. A game doesn't need multiplayer to be good, and Sonic the Werehog and even the daytime stages are HUGE, and if you walk around, you'll find many things. The hub worlds are there, because this is like a SA4, Sonic 06 being SA3 because it ALSO had hubworlds, which is what fans have been wanting.
  • The biolizard battle is hard and interesting, same with Final Hazard (except that it isn't hard)

Ok, a game doesn't need multiplayer but it adds some replay value.

Ya know SA2 doesn't have hubworlds, right? And, I have to say hubworlds are boring, even on SA

  • what is SA4 and SA3? Sonic Adventure 3 and 4? Cuz those arent real? Right?

  • finally, this is what we need for all those sonic unleashed haters. A calm, regular person. A nice sharp contrast to most people just getting incredibly mad. Good job making a great point.

  • Thanks man! We appreciate it.

  • i'm starting to like this game a little more

  • That's really great and makes both of us very happy.

  • sweetness, i didn't know osme of that stuff. I love this game, and i actually liked Sonic 06 too, so i think it's cool they reference that,,,more then once!

  • WOW

I knew there was fanservice but...WOW

And when did SEGA actually appologize for Sonic 06

  • They didn't apologize per se, but they said that the robot representing the Xbox 360 wasn't experienced. Basically bashing themselves.

Also, in an official release letter, they stated that the game was rushed.

  • ..at least I think it's a book.

  • If you actually look at the loading screen with Tails' yellow computer, if you look at the bottom right it says "Miles Electric", and while playing thru the night stage of Holoska, if you look at some of the ice sculptures they have Silver's quills.

  • Interesting.

  • There's another one where you go to the Empire City directory in the lab and lok for Brenda; she's a reporter and one of her articles is "Do Blue Hedgehogs dream of Electric Eggs" which is a reference to a book.

Also read the description of Yasmine from Shamar, and it says that she once called her group the "Full Mettle Shamalchemists".

  • WOW! Both Sykorax and I are huge FullMetal Alchemist fans! Thank you so much for pointing that out!

    Also it is a book.

  • very well done, you're just what IGN ang Gamespot need; a normal guy

  • Thank you! We figured that we'd approach this game as casual fans of the series.

  • 1 question? how come u cant walk around in the cities in the wii version? jw and nic vid never had a dreamcast but i have played them and it was cool

  • The Wii/PS2 version was handled by one team while the Xbox 360/PS3 version was handled by it's own team. It was possible a design choice as to why the next gen version got the Hub World while the other version didn't. Also, since the next gen consoles are more capable consoles, that may be why there are hub worlds in that version.

  • thanks, i wonder why sega didnt just make it all the same though. its like 2 differnt games this way. i might trade 4 the 360 version thuogh.

  • I liked Sonic R

  • Alright then, I actually apologize for that line. I don't hate Sonic R all that much, but it's not a great game to me.

  • Chao where also in Shadow the Hedgehog

  • Oh wow, this made me appreciate this game a whole lot more.

  • Thank you very much! We're glad this video did that for you.

  • Along with a reference to Street Fighter there's a reference to God of War with another one of the Werehog's moves.

And the way how the Gaia orb... things... animate in the Wii/PS2 versions... also a reference to God of War.

  • That is also true.

  • Hey maker of this movie, The Chao Mission is also a tribute to Sonic 3D blast.

  • And Sonic Rivals 2.

  • Thank you for sharing.

  • Sonic 3D Blast<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3 QQ I grew up playing that

  • And also incase you haven't notice Sonic gaining energy from the rings is based off Sonic SAT am.

  • Never saw SATam

  • I've got this game my friend and I LOVE it!!! I hope to get a 360 soon so I can experience the 360 version. (I own the PS2 version)

  • Get a PS3 it´s way better than the xbox 360...

  • I want to get a PS3 but I don't have the money for it.

  • $400 for a new 80 GIG model. Best Buy has a bundle pack of the 80 GIG model that comes with KILLZONE 2 and MGS4 with no extra charge.

  • Hm. Sounds nice. I could save up my money until Christmas then I'd have enough for a PS3. Heck Sony might lower the console price tag for the holidays. Thanks for the info, Sykorax!

  • No problem.

  • get a ps3

  • did you know that chip's voice actor also does the voice for Chazz Princeton in Yu-Gi-Oh GX?

  • lol i have it for the wii but the 360 one looks a lot better

  • i consiter this game sonic adventer 3

  • I allready like it, so much that I own all the version :), LONG LIVE SONIC!

  • what the hell is nifty? XD

  • nifty:

    Informal.

    Use nifty in a Sentence

adjective 1. attractively stylish or smart: a nifty new dress for Easter.

    2. very good; fine; excellent: a nifty idea.

    3. substantial; sizable: We sold the car for a nifty profit

  • I agree, no one seems to be giving Sonic Unleashed enough credit. It's the most polished effort put out by Sonic Team in years (along with Black Knight), and while it may not be perfect, it's still a great game. I only have the Wii version, so I have a couple gripes with that version specifically, but if I ever get a PS3, I think Unleashed will be worth buying a second time.

  • Unleashed and Black Knight are by far the best Sonic games we got since SA2, and yes, that includes the advance and rush series, they just tried too hard to combine new sonic and old sonic in those and it just came out as ok games.

But by god, fans want another chao garden already SEGA, get the hint.

  • i bet if we get the chao garden back it would be the best game ever

  • Nifty? What are you, 70? jk. Sonic Unleashed was cool. I like how they didnt show much of the hundred extra characters.

  • Great video man, loads of memories triggered by that, wish I could pick it up, one day I guess, one day lols

  • darn i have the wii version

  • Great Job CBDT! and you too sykorax! =D

  • The food thing was actually reference to the Sonic Team/Dimps Sonic Advance 3 IIRC

I'm pretty sure in the manual they made it the official food. :)

    Chaos - Shamar too

    Oh its Rye-star? I say wri-star XD

Balloons....? -_- multiple games with widely known balloons

    lol jigsaw puzzle

  • For the food thing it was defintly a refrence from classic sonic shows.

  • Sonic Advance 3...

  • HE means Satam Not Sonic X

  • I know lol

  • The chili dog joke started in the cartoons and comics and then finally adopted by the Japanese canon years later, same goes for the Robotnik family name.

  • Sonic Advance 3 manual was the first official time it was cannon. Then it was its official food. You can't give a lot of SU credit when its already his favorite food.

First time it adopted from Comic, then other games used it as its official food. Honestly, people who made Sonic Unleashed probably never seen the cartoons and could've just put it in to go with Sonics favorite food.

  • Actually, in Sonic 2, the things you bounce on in Casino Night that turn green, yellow, and red are chili dogs.

  • I said the joke STARTED in the 90s cartoon shows and comics and adopted a decade later into official game canon.

Are you saying that the developers are completely ignorant and HAPPENED to conclude that Sonic would eat chili dogs? Did it occur to you that the developers wanted to make a throwback to a classic joke for older fans? Just because Sonic Advance 3 is the first game to acknowledge it doesn't mean they just pulled it out of thin air; it's an in-joke.

  • Actually, certain developers could be ignorant. yes I know its a joke but it started in SA3. And ADOPTED it. Many Sonic Team developers left. Yes you are correct. But I don't really agree with your second paragraph. And I don't really take it as a joke, all I just look at is.. "its Sonicsfavorite food now, lets start using it!" :p

And I'm pretty sure Sonic Team is in Japan(Along with Sega) And IIRC those cartoons weren't shown in Japan. But I may be wrong. :)

  • Whoops meant SATAM started it.

To be honest with you, I wasn't around when the cartoons were aired. So I wouldn't have much information on where it started. But thanks for clearing everything up

  • I agree. This game was very underrated. While I felt the warehog stages brought the gameplay down, the first thing I noticed when I played this game was the level of detail brought into the stages and cutsceens. I thought this was the best Sonic game since Sonic Adventure and while the plot was kind of weird it was a good step in the right direction.

  • Very cool!

  • How can u play on xbox live with sonic 06'?

  • 4:00

He just broke that guys table. lol xD

  • " OUT A' HERE " *pauses video* *commits suicide* (but not really)

  • eggman sure likes videogames :P

  • critics suck and they never put a score wich a game deserves. CRITICS SUCK!

  • Wow, you've find lots of stuff on that game. Hopefully, I can get the game if I can get either 360 or PS3. Anyways, great job guys! ^_^

  • Heh, didn't pick up on the meaning of the robot's names, and I hadn't bothered to read Empire day's signage yet. Neat.

  • Awesome video you guys. Uleashed rocks BOTH VERSIONS.

  • true

  • Love this vid and the game =D I think it's cool how Sega apologised for Next Gen in the most strangest way. Anywayz, nice vid =)

  • I didn't know Eggman had a Dreamcast!! Those things were pretty nifty, alright!

  • can you belive people say this game is worser than 06

  • have someone noticed that eggmanland looks like scrap brain zone act 1?

  • I love you guys!

No but seriously, it's nice to see someone else point out that a lot of thought and effort went into making this game. The graphics are gorgeous, the animations smooth and nice to look at and every place you go, even if it's in a day stage where you usually just blast through at mach 1, there are small things for you to see if you just slow down and look around.

Now I'm not saying this game is a masterpiece, but it is a very enjoyable game. Thank you for making this video!

  • Your welcome, and thanks for watching.

  • Fav'd!

  • Holy crap, I only noticed a few of these. Nice job, dude.

    Here's my contribution:

If you read Brenda's entry in the database, you'll see some of the news articles she's been working on.

One of these is titled "Do Blue Hedgehogs Dream of Electric Eggs?"

Obviously this is referencing the book "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" by Phillip K. Dick, but it also seems to be a reference to Electric Egg Zone from Sonic Chaos on Master System/Game Gear.

  • Thanks for the info, and thanks for watching.
